Yeah, I like the mellow atmosphere of Drowse too Drowse is a highlight on ADATR. It just washes over me and usually stops me in my tracks. Some of my favorite lyrics from Roger too. 10/10
I think Drowse is fantastic, it's among the best on the album alongside Somebody To Love, Teo Torriatte, The Millionaire Waltz You And I and Long Away in my opinion (OK I should've just said the whole album!). Drowse is probably the best song he wrote at that point. And looking at everyone he written still in the top few I'd say. Lyrics wise they are incredibly strong a huge improvement from The Loser In The End.

I love Drowse, unusual mellow vibe from Roger - Â the slide guitar is uncomplicated, but I like it. Yeah, I like the mellow atmosphere of Drowse too Just something about the song that doesn't resonate with me.

Haha, funny how two of the worst songs to us are Freddie's.
I wouldn't be so hard on "Delilah" considering it was just indulgence towards him for obvious reasons. "Body Language" however, it's hard to believe it's in the same singles discography from the same artist that gave us "Bohemian Rhapsody" only 7 years earlier. Easily Freddie's lowest low and perhaps the point where he started to return to greatness.
I kinda hate thinking about best/worst songs because I like virtually everything they've done, but please add my vote to "Body Language" just to even things out a little.

Rain Must Fall has no redeeming features for me, and some of the melody sounds suspiciously like a well known disco record.

I didn't intend to comment before, because there isn't any Queen song I hate. But there's one song I don't really like - I Want To Break Free. My issue with this song is that it's very lazy and it doesn't show even 10% of what they were capable of - just some synths everywhere and two vocal tracks, which probably takes a few minutes to record. This itself isn't a big problem, there are other songs like that. But there's another factor - it's one of the most frequently played songs on the radio. And when I'm with my friends or family and suddenly this song comes on the radio, I always feel a bit ashamed, because everyone knows that I love Queen. But it's definitely not because of songs like that. It's because of all the sophisticated stuff they did, their vocals, guitar orchestrations, songwriting skills, versatility, classical and vaudeville influences, etc. IWTBF has none of it. Of course it's very popular because of the video, which is very funny. But the song is very weak. And I have no problems with live versions. I think the brilliance is found in its simplicity. Sometimes it's not what you add. It's what you leave out that makes it work. The use of synthesizer and drum loops is another discussion. But love or hate it, the song was very successful and was certainly of its time. Well, not here in America. You almost NEVER hear it on the radio over here. So if I want to listen to it, I really do have to put on The Works. So unlike you, I haven't been exposed to it ad infinitum like Another One Bites The Dust. Otherwise maybe I might feel the same way. For that matter...I never hear Radio GA GA on the radio here in America, either.

It was definitely many years ago so my brain has forgotten specifics...

The songs I don't care for have really changed over the years. There was a long period when Body Language made me cringe, but I've really come to appreciate that fact that it's just so Freddie how can you not laugh along with it. The songs that I've really come to appreciate are some of Roger's early songs; Loser in the End, Tenement Funster Drowse, & Action This Day . Even Ride the Wild Wind is one that really like because it's so evocative. Teo Torriatte is another that of late I really enjoy, it has such a captivating melody.
My list;
Brighton Rock (I know, I know) Fight From The Inside Friends Will Be Friends. (it's so contrived) Give Me The Prize Sweet Lady All God's People The Hitman

This'll be a tough one, because at a certain point in my life, I remember declaring to one of my slightly more musically educated friends about 19 years ago, that Queen was one of those bands that didn't have a bad song in their catalogue. RIP, said friend. I have since revised that opinion after education and exposure to more music, but I still think everything Queen ever released as a foursome had some good reason to be released, if nothing more than taking a chance at doing something different just for the heck of it.
My least favourite Queen songs at the moment are, in chronological order: - Jesus (never really liked it, musically or lyrically) - She Makes Me [Stormtrooper in Stilettos] (mixed feelings about this, a bit too cumbersomely marching for my taste) - We Will Rock You (brilliant idea of a song, but for the extreme overexposure) - More Of That Jazz (always thought it pretty boring as a composition, but I like the attitude) - Rock It [Prime Jive] (too much rock'n'roll nonsense for me to find enjoyable) - Body Language (although I've come to appreciate it's silliness more in the last 20 years) - One Year Of Love (not a bad song as such, but I always felt Freddie was struggling with this one, feels too high to get the right emotion) - Gimme The Prize (too much connected to Highlander to make for a good standalone song, and again, Freddie's struggling with his voice here, which annoys me) - Don't Lose Your Head (again, too much connection to Highlander for a good standalone song, and the lyrics are a bit silly) - Stealin' (just because it's part of a jam, doesn't make it a good song) - Delilah (yeah, a silly song about cats is what Freddie wanted to do, but who says you have to like it... and I'm a cat person) - The Hitman (kind of similar problem as with Gimme The Prize, but this is a better stand-alone song... still tend to skip it)
Mind you, the two Innuendo tracks absolutely belong on the album, and fit like a glove, for better or for worse. Seems like AKOM is my least favourite album, though it was the one I bought first into my collection (after the Greatest Hitses). Oh well.

I'll raise you Body Language, White man and Sweet Lady I don't agree with the latter 2. White Man is one heck of a powerful song, lyrically and musically. Sweet Lady is indeed not one of their best songs, but from 2:07 there's a better part but the ending is bad indeed. No puns intended, just my opinion

White Man is huge! Skip over Get Down Make Love Deffo worst ones gotta be Blurred Vision & A Dozen Red Roses For My Darling. I mostly agree with YOUR opinion! It's the only bad song I really can't stand, and the other bad songs are 12"extras, so it's not a shame when they're bad as songs. They're just extras for those who are interested and like it, but not album-worthy as they've worked out themselves too.

I am not a big fan of Get Down, Make Love, Pain Is So Close To Pleasure,Don't Try Suicide, The Hitman, I Want To Brak Free (live version were much better)... I really hate and skip Body Language, My Baby Does Me, All God's People, Delilah, Cool Cat (without Bowie something is missing).. But I do like No More Of That Jazz, Khashoggi's Ship or Invisible Man so my taste might not be the same as most of you :-D

I am not a big fan of ....I Want To Brak Free (live version were much better)... I've always thought the studio version (both album and single versions) were far superior. Yeah, live you get Brian playing the solo and it's more organic, but Freddie more or less sounded like he was shout singing at some performances. It's just a little grating on my ears, honestly. But the studio version is magical.

I am not a fan of " Don't Try Suicide", with the Police style guitar riff going on ,it is a real poor track .I would have stuck "Human Body" in it's place on "The Game".

I don't care that much for that song either, but for me it is mostly because I find the message/way they handle that touchy subject in the song to be kinda weird and maybe not the best. Keep Passing the Open Windows, although I don't think that song is that great either, at least handled the similar subject matter in a somewhat better and more positive/encouraging way IMO.

Yeah, the lyrics to DTS are really ham-fisted. When I first heard that track, must be twenty years ago, I grabbed the booklet and must've read them three times over because I just couldn't believe that the same people responsible for, well, almost every Queen-track up to that point really, wrote that stuff. It's what I'd expect from a high schooler with no particular literary talent who had to write a poem about suicide(-prevention) for a class assignment or something. I'm not sure I'd call it the worst Queen-song, but the lyrics are absolutely down there among the very worst!

Set aside the lyrics, and the song is actually a fun jam. I guess it was supposed to be light take on a serious issue, but anything serious shouldn't be taken lightly. And the line that is the worst is "nobody cares." Tell that to someone who's depressed and they're liable to pull the trigger right then and there.
Ah well, Freddie wasn't perfect. We already knew that.
