As I get older I find I can stomach most of the Queen songs I didn't like in my youth (Party, Khashoggi's Ship, My Baby Does Me, Don't Lose Your Head, etc.) but I still cannot find a single redeeming quality about Body Language.
What's wrong with Khashoggi's Ship? That's a great rocker!
It was a matter of guilt by association – I hated Party for years, and Khashoggi’s Ship bled right into it, so therefore… It took until Deep Cuts 3 when I heard the standalone version that I reassessed it.

The Invisible Man One Year of Love One Vision Party Dancer See What a Fool I've Been I know its all a matter of taste, but I can't help but be absolutely shocked that anyone could think of One Vision as one of their worst songs

I wouldn't say it's one if their worst but, as I was listening to OV the other day, I couldn't help thinking what an average/mediocre rock track that was -- especially coming from the band that created such awesome, original songs in the early seventies.

I remember first getting into The Miracle when I was 13. Khashoggis Ship was one of my instant favorites. The Miracle remains a favorite album of mine, actually my 2nd-favorite after Innuendo.

The Miracle is maybe tied with The Works as my overall favorite Queen album. I think it's incredibly solid from front to back and it is LOADED with Brian May shredding up a place. I swear, everyone needs to go back to that album and re-notice how much guitar is on it compared to A Kind of Magic
Also, Was It All Worth It is heavier than slamming into a brick wall and Hang On In There is as good as anything on the album.
Not to go off topic, but I friggin' love the album

Not to go off topic, but I friggin' love the album The Miracle has grown on me lately. I think my whole perspective changed when I saw Bulsara and His Queenies perform the album live in its entirety. Because like you said, there's a lot of great guitar on the album. One of my favorite moments is in Breakthru when Brian May shreds like crazy. I don't think there's a bad song on the album. Even Party is good. My biggest gripe might be the lack of real percussion on many of the tracks. But songwriting wise it's right up there with the best of what Queen had to offer in the 80s.

I'm certainly with you on the lack of real percussion. What a brilliant track Breakthru would have been with proper drums on it. The 12" mix goes some way to rectifying that, but they muck about with it too much in other ways.

There is nothing like it. Unique. And of such a beauty. How on earth can you call that "worst"?

The link to the tutorial is from Basix4, good guy named Matt from QZ. His YouTube channel is the best for breakdowns on Brian's style and tone, not sure if he's on this board. Great player in his own right, hope to see new stuff soon.

Cool Cat Ride the Wild Wind She Makes Me This breaks my heart !
Cool Cat has Freddie channeling his inner Aretha, Ride the Wild Wind has so many wonderful textures and a great build to the peak of the guitar solo, and She Makes Me is minimalism at its finest - Brian's brief guitar orchestra is one of the most majestic moments in the entire Queen catalogue.

my least favs are probably Misfire (kind of boring) Boring !? It's a short two minute piece with how many modulations and left turns ? And the only track in the catalogue where Deacon plays a bunch of lead guitar. Pretty everything that makes Queen great is in that track.
Side 2 of SHA is one of the finest sides of music in their catalogue.

Not counting B-sides, the only Queen track I can do without hearing again is Man on the Prowl. It's where they officially have cashed in their chips as innovators and fall into self-parody. To think it follows one of Mercury's finest compositions in the sequencing.
That's probably the only Queen album side I just can't get through with a straight face.

Mileage may vary, etc etc
For me, She Makes Me just goes on and on and on and on....and on some more. It's like it never ends and never gives me anything to latch on to. I just hear that guitar figure in my head over and over ad nauseum, lol
Ride The Wild Wind - I think it's a very cool TRACK, but personally I don't rate it highly as a song at all. I kinda don't think it flows that well and is just repetitive. It's just a really weird sounding track as well. Very dark and ominous.
A for effort on that one, I'll give 'em that!

I can't believe there are people who dislike Get Down Make Love.
A bit raunchy, but man it's just so enjoyable.
Explosive, textural, and totally Queen.

I've never been a fan of 'Gimme The Prize', 'Great King Rat', 'She Makes Me' and 'All God's People'
Apart of these, I enjoy every single song on Queen's repertorium

I've seen a lot of hate for MOTP recently, which is just odd to me. I always thought it was one of the best on the album, and the piano was immaculate. I view it as a song that doesn't take itself too seriously, and you can tell they had a blast performing it.

The problem with The Works is that it's for the most part derived from their past hits.

Purple Rain came out in 1984 - that's a good song.
No amount of ornamentation can rescue a song, no matter how much fun they had doing it. You can try to polish a turd, but it's still a turd.
There's a good reason why 1980s Queen has a reputation for having hits on albums with filler. Some people even feel that way about much of their '70s output.

I´m one of those who think that in the 70s their albums had quite a few fillers...I find very boring some songs on Sheer Heart Attack or A Night At The Opera.... In The Lap Of The Gods/Bring Back That Leroy Brown/Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon => That voice filters....What the hell? Now I´m Here - Never liked it...And played in 95% of the concerts..... The Prophet´s Song - The vocal solo part...Boring...I skip it always Good Company/Seaside Rendezvous - A kind of music that i don´t like
Fortunately these albums also cointained In The Lap Of The Gods (Revisited), Death On Two Legs, You´re My Best Friend, I´m In Love With My Car, Stone Cold Crazy....

Your post absolutely blows my mind. Every single one of those songs I cherish because they demonstrate Queen's ability to write in so many different styles and do so convincingly. They're also fun and pure escapism, especially a tune like In The Lap Of The Gods that practically takes you to another world. To each their own though!

Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon => That voice filters....What the hell? IIRC it really wasn't a filter. my understanding was that the vocals were recorded normally, then fed back via headphones into a mic'd metal bucket - with the result committed to tape. I've seen a lot of hate for MOTP recently, which is just odd to me. I always thought it was one of the best on the album, and the piano was immaculate. There's a good reason why 1980s Queen has a reputation for having hits on albums with filler. Some people even feel that way about much of their '70s output. When the Works came out in 1984, I was hugely disappointed - there were only a couple of songs (IMO) anywhere near to the same ballpark as Queen's 70s output (IAHL and (possibly) Hammer - although, i'll cut Ga Ga some slack, because lyrically, it's quite a clever dig at the MTV generation). Each successive LP (from 1980's the game onward) traded off progressively more of their 73-78 grandiose quality in favour of quick-fit, hit n run, dial-a-hit cash-ins. It was 1989 before they rediscovered the art of fusing commerciality with some of their 1970s quality and bombast. well, while we're talking about piano: what's with the lazy-ass nature of KPTOW? one of the 70's greatest songwriters appears to have writer's block. did Freddie just hear Joe Jackson's Steppin' Out the year beforehand and think "i'll see what I can do with that"? shame is, had Freddie bothered to write something from scratch it may have been a very good song, but stealing someone else's melody like that, just accentuates the gulf in quality between the original and the sub-standard parody. they say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but the very first time I heard KPTOW, I already knew i'd heard the superior version of that melody in 1982. shameful stuff, Mr Mercury.

Hey man, KPTOW helps redeem Freddie regarding Don't Try Suicide. Lol It's a much better message of hope for someone having suicidal thoughts. Actually, I quite like the song and never thought to compare it to Steppin' Out. I can hear it, but I'm not convinced. KPTOW has more bite.
