Which songs do you guys think are the worst starters/enders? I think the worst starter is Party, and the worst ender is Princes Of The universe. Party is musically chosen, Princes Of The Universe is not a song to end with, e.g. “and here we are, we’re the princes of the universe... We’ve come to be the rulers of your world”. The best enders are In The Lap Of The Gods..Revisited and Save Me, and I’m particularly going for deep cuts there instead of choosing the classic Was It All Worth It or The Show Must Go On. I’ve chosen In The Lap Of The Gods..Revisited because of the goodbye setting, with the encore “woo wo lala!”, Save Me also has the right ambiance to it, but is musically speaking an even better song!

Worst: We will rock You, (Rock you / champions works much better as a closer) Seven Seas of Rhye (Queen 1, the slow version) or (If it counts) Yeah! because it's not a song.
Best Death on two legs Was it all worth it
I'm a sucker for those long intros....

But Procession is just like God Save The Queen not really outstanding, in the good and bad way. So yes, a little bit of cheating 😜

Best opener: Procession. It's regal, majestic, and works well to establish "rock and roll in the royal tradition."
Best closer: God Save the Queen. Again, it's regal and majestic. And really brings home the fact that they're a proud British band. Love it.
Other contender for closer is The Show Must Go On. Simply breathtaking.
Worst opener: Party. I like the song just fine (unlike a lot of folks), I just don't think it should have opened the album.
Worst closer: More of that Jazz. Bleh!! Song's okay, but all those damn flashbacks are annoying and kill the mood.

Best opener: Death On Two Legs (what a fucking tune!), Innuendo Worst opener: Mustapha
Best closer: Was It All Worth It, The Show Must Go On, Is This The World We Created
Worst closer: Yeah (A Winter's Tale would have made a good closer, "ooooh it's bliss" as some nice last impressions of Montreux -> fits to the artwork too!)
"Who Wants To Live Forever" would have made a good closer too. Some albums of Queen have a messy tracklist like NOTW, Jazz and AKOM.

Do you have the Tuvalu edition 8-track of The Game that doesn't have Save Me?

At first, I found it odd you chose Princes of the Universe as the worst closer. Of course, I get it. "And here we are." It signifies the entrance of something. On the other hand, it's a hard rocking track that ends the album on a much needed high note especially after the three tracks we had to endure on the first side (One Year of Love, Pain Is So Close To Pleasure, and Friends Will Be Friends). One Vision could have served the same purpose; it would most certainly work as either an opener or closer. So hell yeah, why not switch the two? Still doesn't fix the first side of the album, unfortunately. Honestly, I still do find it odd you chose Princes of the Universe. Regardless, it's still a great song and undoubtedly Freddie's heaviest song of the eighties. It's absolutely brilliant with so many different sections crammed into what, 3 or so minutes? It harkens back to some of his work in the 70s. Love it.

Hehe, I haven't played "The Game" for years on CD but as FLAC and when I put that on my computer I made "Coming Soon" the closer...
I seriously forgot about "Save Me" actually being the closer.

On my remade AKOM i have Princes as the opener, the Highlander AKOM as the closer, and the remade AKOM as the single version, and it works astonishingly well.

You’re also right about the fact we had to endure those three songs, a mix with the last 3 songs would have fitted more! So the fact I chose it was the timing, but it’s imo the strongest song on the album, and what I especially find elevating is the guitars imitating a helicopter before ‘born to be kings’
