Talk about these American Queen compilations from 1992 here.
I find it weird how the 1992 Greatest Hits is still is print and not Classic Queen, as a result it's better-known as the one without Bohemian Rhapsody.

The GH 1992 had slightly different tracklist, since the rights for the original GH in USA had at the time Elektra records. So they dropped some tracks from 70s and put them on GH 1992 and did the same in Classic Queen (Somehow GHII).
In mid 00s the Platinum was released, in meantime Queen and Hollywood records acquired the rights of GH original, the musical was in USA and a TV advert for Jaguar revived IILWMC,Platinum went n#1in itunes USA and a promo single of IILWMC was released, so it was included as extra along with two live songs from On Fire. That compilation was GH we will rock you edition.
Through the years GH wwry was charting well along with Platimum. There were several colored or regular special editions which still keep the album charting.
In a way the 1992 has given its place to the well known GH 1981.

Ah, Classic Queen and Greatest Hits, my first Queen compilations ever. Also got the VHSes – what a delight. Between those two videos and Live At Wembley '86, I thought I had it all.
There are some odd choices on the two compilations (knowing what I know now, I would have done them completely differently) but overall I'm a fan of them. And I know I'm in the minority on this, but I much prefer the Classic Queen edit of The Miracle than the standard version – the bass-driven jam at the end was always too awkward for me, and condensing it by 30 seconds helped make it more enjoyable.

The first time i encountered the US GH was at a friends' house in probably about 1993/1994. At that point i knew the regular GH and GHII cd's and was immediately drawn to them. The kid had the US GH and the regular GHII. The first thing i asked was, why the hell is I Want To Break Free on both? The strange tracklisting of the US GH also puzzled me. I now own em all and understand why it was what it was.

I thought these two releases were amazing. Plus, I prefer the version of Under Pressure on Classic Queen much more. As far as I know, this is the only place where this version exists. Please correct me if I'm wrong. On the streaming sites, even if it has Classic Queen, they just include the regular version which pisses me off.

I owe a lot to these two albums. My first album was Greatest Hits and it absolutely captivated me. The album still feels like home to me. I bought Classic Queen soon afterwards and I looked upon it with the same appreciation and awe.
Yes, I suppose the Greatest Hits was odd not to have Bo Rhap, but I suppose it was a marketing ploy. "Hey, so you bought Greatest Hits and you're still missing Bohemian Rhapsody? Guess you'll have to purchase Classic Queen now! $$$$$$!"
