Greetings, I was watching this video on YouTube about Queen Rainbow March
And at the end of the video appeared this message: "The 10 minutes of footage that have just seen are from a 16 mm combined optical print. They are extracts from a longer concert film, approximately 38 minutes in duration, filmed in March 1974. which is currently missing. If you have any information about this missing concert footage please go to www.queenonline.com/rainbowfootage " I accesed to the link but it does not exist anymore Does anybody know what happened? Did they found the footage? Thanks in advance

Maybe the link is just old and the page was removed. I concur with the above; maybe there were no responses to the request for the outstanding footage. I was just thinking about that footage the other day; if only a total of 38 minutes of the show was taped, not all of the songs performed would feature in the footage. So I wonder which songs were included, apart from the 2 which have been officially released?

Those 38 minutes are most likely the same songs on the Sheetkeeckers bootleg

Those 38 minutes are most likely the same songs on the Sheetkeeckers bootleg I just checked online as I've heard of that boot. but I wasn't familiar with the contents of it. The timings provided with a track list for the boot. that I saw add up to about 38 minutes so you appear to be correct. Thanks for letting me know.

The bit at 8:50 when Freddie appears in shot to punctuate the end of the guitar solo is probably my favourite Queen moment I agree with you. It’s an awesome moment. I love this footage. Shooting on film with the longer lenses gives the whole thing a much different vibe to the November show. I’d love to see all of it.

I feel like QPL once again is lying to us like they always do. Just excuses on top of excuses for reasons to why the footage is "lost". We all know they do have footage some where in the archives. Just like all those uncirculated 8mm film footage confiscated at concerts. This is what always makes mad is that Queen doesn't give fans new and rare content but when a fan takes matters into their own hands, they try to erase it from existence.

It was most probably the 30-minute 35mm film from the November shows. of course, it (the Nov 19/20 Rainbow edit) was also the support for a few other UK cinema releases: Jaws, Led Zep TSRTS & Floyd Live @ Pompeii.

The only time Queen ever gave us something really really special that was rare was the New York 8mm Film at The Beacon Theatre, 1976. That’s the only rare thing they have uploaded onto YouTube, and afterwards, no other 8mm films have been uploaded by them for some reason..

Something always seemed off to me about that Beacon Theatre 1976 8mm film release because there are probably up to a hundred 8mm films between 1974-1986 sitting there collecting dust in QPL archives yet that specific one is the only one officially shared by Queen. I feel there's definitely something suspicious about this whole thing. I feel a bribe might have happened behind the scenes. If so I hope that guy didn't spend his lifesavings negotiating with QPL!

If they found the footage, it would've been out by now, considering they put the first copy out.

It's worth noting that a year after Queen put out this call for help, a significant upgrade to the footage was used in the Rags To Rhapsody 2015 documentary. If my memory serves me, the camera angles were timed slightly differently to the 2014 official release copy. I can't confirm that at the moment though, so take it with a grain of salt. If true, this could be an entirely different edit? The documentary only shows snippets of Son And Daughter and Modern Times Rock N' Roll, but I suspect that this film may contain the full 38 minutes.
Sadly this upgrade definitely will not see the light of day any time soon lol, been 6 years and that's all we have so I doubt Queen's itching to get it out there.

If I recall correctly, the footage in this documentary it's from the BBC Master Reel itself, QPL has the worse copy that was released on the 2014 release

Both songs were shown in great quality on OGWT in 1974, in which an archive of it exists. So it could be that they've taken an old archive from that broadcast and done some color correction on it to use it on the documentary. The intro just before the Son And Daughter plays is also in the documentary so it's highly likely they used this as a source, as they have roughly the same quality. QPL doesn't have access to the BBC archives so they had to work with what they had when they were releasing the 2014 copy.

I had actually totally forgot that they were on OGWT until Kurgan's recent YouTube upload. Does a better copy than that circulate?

I think he purposely uploaded it in 360p and that he has a higher quality copy than that, but just won't release it, not Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll either. But the same broadcast exists in BBC's archives and is possibly the one used in From Rags To Rhapsody.

And he thought I wouldn’t notice 😂

This is definitely different enough from the official release.

I restored the video with VirtualDub2. I resized the video to 480p and used the plugin Neat Video to deblock/denoise the footage. Then I added some fake film grain to further hide the compression artifacts.

There's a lot of old footage that could use this kind of subtle clean-up, if you're open to doing more of them.
