Obviously the piano and vocals are Freddie's idea, and the orchestral sample I believe came from John. However, I'm intrigued as to who put together the rock section with the 'Seven Seas of Rhye' sample. To me, the drum fills sound very much like 'The Invisible Man', which leads me to believe Roger. However, the use of Middle Eastern scales in the guitar lines are interesting by Brian. Perhaps this section was a May/Taylor collaboration?

Talking about the 'reprise' version, I believe it's mainly Brian's, because in my mind the 'sample operation' is very similar to what we can hear on Still Burning (from Cosmos Rocks). I don't let the drum fills impress me, since the same important rhythmic elements are also present in Still Burning, and nevertheless it's mainly a Brian May creation. Also the arrangements, so 'wall of sound' to the ears are not something I would credit neither to John, Roger or David Richards. Who knows if the final version still has the bass and drums parts recorded by John and Roger at Abbey Road in 1993, as hoped by studio/production assistant Ash Alexander. I want to believe it, also because the rhythmic section is so powerful and this leads me to think of a closer collaboration between the two of them. But, again, the final result it's mostly Brian's.

If I remember correctly, Brian pretty much dismissed all of the work done in those previous sessions. I guess what remains of that era is mostly concepts such as some of the arrangements and song choices, but hardly anything in terms of actual recorded parts.

I suspect that's overstating it - on their part, not yours. Would he really tread all over Roger and John - in the emotional state they would all have been in. I could see him contributing a lot of ideas, but not negating their efforts. If he had negated their efforts we might never have seen Made In Heaven at all. (Yes, I could be wrong.)

Sure, I'm certain it was all civil and respectful of their work rather than "This fucking sucks! Step aside!"
I'm sure many ideas were accepted by him, only that the actual takes and mixing in the album happened after he joined them. I suppose everything went through his filter and there's probably very little that he took in as it was, but rather they reworked it.

I always felt the reprise sounds similar to Surf's Up/School's Out from The Cosmos Rocks. But it also has a Headlong-like feel...
