I happened to watch a new episode of Top Gear tonight and at 6:08 they played the intro of Father To Son. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000t95h/top-gear-series-30-episode-1The BBC must've had access to an instrumental version as where the first vocals should've began it faded out on the guitar strum. The first time I've heard Father To Son like this. Does anyone know any other songs exposed like this? |

Brighton Rock was used quite effectively in Baby Driver. Spoiler alert if you haven't seen the film (it's quite extraordinary, highly recommended).

I thought Tear It Up in the latest Acura commercial was strange and actually sounded good.

Father To Son also used in an early episode of US TV series Limitless (based on the film of teh same name) a couple of years ago.

Brighton Rock was used quite effectively in Baby Driver. Spoiler alert if you haven't seen the film (it's quite extraordinary, highly recommended). Edgar Wright has also used Queen songs in Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs the World. |

I only listened once live and then once more to find the time to post the link on here. I'm still surprised they chose to play a song that literally only a small proportion of the audience will have heard of on a prime time global TV show. |

Quite possibly some of the presenters / producers are Queen fans and as they were doing an article on Dad's cars, I guess they thought it was fitting. You're right in that most people probably wouldn't have recognised it, but it was a nice little nod to those of us that did. 🙂 |

A fun fact about Baby Driver is that he chose the music before creating the scenes. The entire movie is one giant music video. And how wonderful that he thought to use Brighton Rock for the climactic finish. |
