nice pics. i'm always amazed how resilient Nestcams are - you'd think they get covered in sh*t, destroyed - or both

I don't know what happened to the first photo above and the software doesn't seem to want to let me correct anything. This is an adult Red-tailed Hawk adult that landed on a post/perch in Charlo, Montana in 2019. A Black-billed Magpie flew around it, almost ran into it and wound up swinging around and landing next to it. He was lucky the Hawk didn't do him in right then and there. LOL This one is a different race of Red-tailed Hawk and this one is an immature. And this one is one of the only times I saw this adult, Rough-legged Hawk which was passing through the same area, on migration. Charlo, Montana, fall of 2019

I believe this is one of the newer types on the Hawk photos where there is actually a cleaning devise including a water sprayer and wiper like a windshield wiper that activate and cleans the lens. Pretty cool, huh?

This is the juvenile Osprey photo that didn't post. Trying to see if it will work by itself. Maybe there's a size limit to each post?

No idea what it is, but yes, it could either be the size of the image or the size of the file, although I wouldn't have thought the size of the file would have mattered as it is being hosted off-site.

My dad: "When we get a hamster, what do we name it?"
Me: "I don't know, maybe Doggy?"
My dad: "Yeah, Doggy. And if we get a dog, we name it..."
Me: "Hammy."
My dad: "Yes. We're gonna name our hamster Doggy and our dog Hammy."
I sadly don't have a dog yet. But I will get one in the future.

Here's a few more. Both taken March at Skidaway Island Park, Georgia, USA Love that second one. Yesterday I saw a hawk or a kestrel or something swoop down from a tree and grab a mouse out of a patch of long grass. Of course, it all happened too quickly to photograph, but a great thing to see.

Thanks! I had the opportunity to be driving in rather heavy traffic but beginning to stop for a red light when a Red-tailed Hawk swooped down right in front of my car and grabbed a Pigeon that it was hot on the trail of, grab it and take off without touching the ground nor me hitting it. Talk about slamming on the brakes. LOL!

It's been a wet and windy winter, plus we've been adapting to our new resident... ..so very little "proper" photography, mostly just phone camera stuff. That said, these are ones I'm happy with... There are many others of the dog (obviously!), but I won't inflict them on you...

Here's a few pictures I recently took when it had snowed hard for the first time in years. I think they turned out nicely. They were, as all my pictures are, taken on my phone (Huawei P30 Pro) First: a beautiful sunset with some birds and a tree
Second: a heather plant, I love the depth I can create with the relatively large sensor of my phone Third: another picture of the sunset, this time with a row of trees And last: another tree in front of the sunset, with a sheep shed in the distance

Black Wings Chief Mouse ThomasQuinn jon_innuendo HelloDelilah Chopin1995 pg emrabt The Real Wizard Lord Fickle Raf katydyd5 ted CuppaJoour local Photographic Society met the last Monday - first proper full evening since Covid began. One of the little exercises we did was called Steel Wool. The basis is that a handful of steel wool is inserted inside the blades of a metal Food Whisk, attached to a chain. the steel wool is then set alight and spun round. Here are my results: Canon 200d, Irix Firefly 15mm lens - ISO 100, Exp 4-6 secs, Aperture F/8.0First three are images straight from the camera (no editing, fixing), last two are a simple p/shop gradient applied to the background, and my Dartmoor Milky Way shot inserted to the centre.

Creating a sepia effect Strelitzia, Fueteventura 2019 - again colour pop, but all colours on just the main flower head. HDR applied to bring out more of the buried colour depth Feckenham Millpond 2022 - Long Exposure Milk Effect, added HDR processing to the more boring elements of the image Lotus, Fladbury 2022 - Colour Pop Lastly, the inspiration for my favourite novel - Dracula by Bram Stoker - it's not difficult to see how the place inspired such a great novel. the destruction of the place is one thing Henry VIII can be thanked for. Whitby Abbey Ruins 2022 - raw image, minor editing Whitby Abbey 2022 - the blues. Ruins processed, sky unedited.

it was a cracking two days in North Yorkshire. Couldn't believe it myself - blue skies almost entirely. One person at my local Photographic Society suggested "why didn't you do the Abbey in reds to suit the Dracula theme" to which I replied "because it's far too obvious"
