That is stunningly beautifully detailed!
I normally would not comment as I usually don't give two shits about photography.
I hope this is interpreted as a backhanded complement.

It isn't Hubble or the JWST, but it's mighty impressive that you have the gear and wherewithal to do this yourself.

Beautiful already! You've managed to get a lot of depth in your images!
What a coincidence, last night I looked at the Orion Nebula through a telescope for the first time (a 90/910 achromatic refractor I recently bought. Not especially suited for astrophotography, sorry)! Obviously no visible colour, but very clear and brighter and more detailed than I'd expected with a 15mm eyepiece (about 60x magnification).

Orion is a great winter visitor. For most of N/W Europe it's visible from around November - April, rising an hour or so after dark. Anyone with binos can see it @25x it's even worth a look

No, it's on a (sturdy!) AZ-mount - a sufficiently stable EQ-mount was way outside my budget, a tracker even more so. I just do visual observing, so it's not a problem. Should I ever want to move on to astrophotography, I'll have to invest in a good EQ mount and motor. Still, I might be able to pull off some lunar photography, maybe even planetary.

Depends if you're intending to use a DSLR or scope to image. On a DSLR you can get a MoveShootMove for around €150 and this will support upto 3kg in weight.

anyone with Binos, Scope or DSLR wanting to locate these two M81 (Bodes) & M82 (Cigar) galaxies can be located almost overhead. Starting at the Plough extend an imaginary line out from Phecda below Dubhe. This line should extend the same apparent (Westerly) distance from Dubhe as Phecda is (Easterly) This pair fits easily into the view of a pair of small binoculars.

Amazing! The fact you can get a photo that shows the spirals with amateur equipment is fascinating.

Amazing! The fact you can get a photo that shows the spirals with amateur equipment is fascinating. cheers. a decent dlsr will do it. it's all about the "glass" though. any camera that with a Bulb setting and an iso of 800-3200 will do the job, but no matter how good your camera, a crap lens will make life difficult. I've now got 2x Takumar lenses - 200mm & 300mm and at f/4 they produce nice sharp stars.
