Hello everyone. I wanted to clarify the situation with a strange video clip. It's about We Will Rock You (Fast Live). As we know, this video was released on Greatest Flix and Greatest Video Hits 1. The band has several "live" music videos created in support of live singles and albums, such as Love Of My Life (Live Killers) and Somebody To Love (Five Live). I would like to understand what it was released in support of?
Version 1 (My): In the fall of 1977, the band released the single We Are The Champions and made a video for it. On the back of the single was We Will Rock You, a song that has yet to become a rock classic. After the tour in America, the song began to gain popularity, and perhaps for this reason it was decided to provide a video sequence, but the slow version did not fit, because it was not performed completely at that time and was too short. They took fast version from Houston, cut the solo and added some small effects at the beginning and sent this video to TV, later these effects will be cut for some reason for the Video Hits 1 release. But in early ' 78, German TV made its own promo video for Rockpop, where it again used material from Houston, the audience clapped to a slow version of WWRY. Finally, around this time, the band is shooting their own music video for WWRY during the filming of Spread Your Wings. Thus, according to this version, I believe that WWRY Fast was a kind of substitute for the main promo video, which they shot almost six months after the release of the single!
Version 2: According to the website queenpedia.com, the WWRY Fast video was taken from Houston specifically to promote the single from Live Killers, which was released only to the American public. On the one hand, this is very logical, because the synchronization of the single version with any video of 79 is basically impossible. On the other hand, all the reports of ' 79 were shot quite poorly and mostly with one camera, the only multi-camera shooting was done in Japan, but there are bad vocals. That leaves Paris. Apparently between Paris and Houston they chose Houston
Thank you in advance for your help
