I'm in the US. I want to say that I picked up a copy of Made in Heaven on Halloween night in 1995. A local record store where I went to college opened up at midnight for a handful of new releases, including the self-titled Alice In Chains album. I'll never forget listening to Made in Heaven for the first time...that was a moment I had anxiously waited for four years.

It is an amazing album. I will never ever forget the first time I heard it.

I still vividly remember the first time I heard the album. I was at uni in Edinburgh and had waited for its release for weeks. I bought it from HMV and rushed straight home and put it on. I knew from the press releases that the two solo tracks were on there but was not prepared for what I heard when track 2 began. I thought it would just be a ācopy and pasteā job from the solo album but I couldnāt have been more wrong. The backing track absolutely blew me away. What also struck me was the fact that they had clearly re-edited his vocals, so bits of vocal lines from one verse were now in another and other parts had been edited slightly. Thereās also one line in the solo version that was slightly flat, and that had been fixed (or removed) as well (at 1m29s āyes, made in heavenā). All in all, itās become my favourite Queen track of all time.

Does anyone know when and why "Made in Heaven" was chosen as the album title? Was there another working title when it was still in production? Was it simply called MIH as it was the original title of the "Mr. Bad Guy" album before it was changed? Well, One year prior to it's realese The album was debated as " Penultimate". It was it's title.

I remember hearing about Penultimate as a working title for a late record, but wasn't that Innuendo? I am also not sure about the quality of the sources back then. Memory fades away...
Cheers,

I know there were a lot of fan suggestions in the fan club magazines and on QueenHeaven (I think?) back when it was confirmed they were working on the album, so maybe thatās where it came from?

Here's a true story. I had a dream a year or two before Made in Heaven came out. In this dream, I was in a record store and lo and behold the final Queen album was out! I looked down to find out what the album I had been wondering about for years was called. And I was surprised to find out the title was, "Bocce, Bocce."
I think Queen made the right call here.

True story - when I worked a college summer job for an electric utility, I once set up a a bocce tournament for my boss's family party, because I was done counting traffic lights for the utility.

Can anyone tell me why the original introduction of the song āLet Me Liveā was banned (thrown out) and they released what everyone knows?

Can anyone tell me why the original introduction of the song āLet Me Liveā was banned (thrown out) and they released what everyone knows? I recall it had too many Janis Joplin phrasings of "Take another little piece of heart" ... and was a lawsuit waiting to happen ...

I wonder how Roger and Brian could have screwed up like that.

Personally, I think they were over-cautious in removing it.
For a start, Joplin didn't write it, so has very little copyright say in the song.

God, I should've been keeping up on this forum. That's such bad news that SebastiƔn left this place. I only got back into it once "relieved from duty by my employer. Hard times.
But Queen-erick or not, he was such a favorable person on the old QZ and was an astute "student of the band".
I know there's not much to banter about these days aside from the recent auctions that I won't even touch, but as a bastion of Queen knowledge, it's sad to have lost Sebastianbastian

I thought they might release something for the 20th anniversary of MIH but nothing came of it.

That seems to coincide with the same way they cover their "warts". Hence the Mish mash fake studio banter compilation of NOTW. I'm certain that any real fly on the wall stuff would've amounted to lots of repetition on overdubs What they put together was simply interesting. Like the Magic Years... a review. I wonder about the early made in heaven stuff too. I wonder good, wonder bad. What if it was terrible? What if it was fantastic? Hahaha. We'll probably never know As for John where's the MAN FRIDAY AND JIVE JUNIOR remaster? That song was killer. Far more rhythmic and bumping than anything QUEEN did (with the possible exception of AOBTD) and though it has touches of Evelyn Champagne King's "Love Come Down" it also has new invigorated sounds which you kinda heard that guy Bruno Mars

I suspect everything they have in the archives will be released some day but it probably won't happen until Brian and Roger have passed away.

I agree that Joplin estate would have no case as Joplin didn't write it. The song was written by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns, and originally recorded by Erma Franklin in 1967. So, the creators of the song (or their representatives) could have sued them in 1995. The song was well within the copyright laws.
The original melody line "take a little piece of my heart" is pretty much note to note (and word to word) to what Queen removed from LML.
So, I can understand why they removed it. Afterall they had just recently sued Vanilla Ice for Ice Ice Baby for similar rip-off.

Understood, but the only reason given, that I'm aware of, was from the fan club and explicitly mentioned Joplin. I accept that Jacky isn't a noted copyright lawyer, but presume she WAS passing on what she'd been told....

But this explains why it's so widely "known" that Joplin estate was going top sue them.
