This might be my first post here after lurking, but it might be a coincidence rather than any pointed homage from Rog, but this track essentially has the 'More Of That Jazz; drumbeat, one of my personal favourites. Great track for a Friday morning! Good observation! Welcome to the forum. 🙂

Funny thing was, last weekend I was looking up the original Clapping Song to prepare for Rogers cover, not thinking it would come out early. And I thought to myself "We have a dancecraze on our hands!!!" ;D

Well that's all the times I'm ever going to listen to that in my life taken care of!
That loud hailer effect on his voice is generally enough to kill any song for me anyway, it's not just the song choice.

You belt it out on tour every night!

"i was writing most of the hits back then"... That's a bold claim!! “Freddie and Brian were the main writers at first and then John and myself sort of took over in the Eighties. And Fred came up with a wonderful solution. He said, ‘Look, everything is under the heading Queen, so we split it equally.’ Which actually didn’t go that well for me, because I was writing most of the hits by then. But I can’t complain.”but it is accurate. Roger had become the key songwriter; One Vision, A Kind of Magic, These Are the Days of Our Lives, Radio Ga Ga, Breakthru, Invisible Man, Innuendo...all Roger's original ideas.

I agree. It's not that bold of a statement. It's fairly accurate to say that Roger was pulling most of the weight.

It seems as if there’s a new mix of ‘We’re All Just Trying To Get By’ - the version played on Radio 2 today definitely sounds like they’ve toned down (for the better) the overused ‘telephone’ effect!

Hmmm. That does sound like a different (better) mix than what I have on my iTunes.

Hey, anyone having trouble with their pre-orders?
I ordered Rog's album on September 15, and right now (Sept 23) the purchase was cancelled on my credit card bill for no apparent reason - no fraud alert, no messages from the bank about any problem with the transaction whatsoever. But the order's still confirmed on my Order History on QOL.
Three days before I had ordered Brian's BTTL re-issue. Still haven't received it (~20 working days to deliver overseas), but at least that one's still on my credit card bill and I've already got an e-mail from QOL confirming it was sent.
Am I supposed to cancel my order and redo it or just wait? I've just e-mailed their customer service. Do they usually offer competent solutions for this kind of situation?

Update: got an e-mail from them
I don't get the point in doing that. There's a specific kind of transaction called pre-auth. They could've done that. Well, at least it looks like there isn't anything wrong with my purchase.

I have a ticket to see Roger on the Friday at Shepherd's Bush, but it turns out my girlfriend booked a surprise birthday present that night! Would anyone be able to swap a Saturday ticket for a Friday one? x

Don’t know if there is a separate thread elsewhere on the board for arranging meetups at the shows, but I will be coming in from Canada for the Manchester and Plymouth gigs

Any guess about setlist of the tour? Judging by the amount of time they have for rehearsals, we probably get some classics like AKOM, TATDOOL, RGG, IWTBF (?), hope for Tenement Funster and maybe ILWMC (prefer the first one). Maybe Heroes and Rock'nRoll as well. An what about from his solo catalogue? Strange Frontier, No More Fun, Sunny Day and some new stuff (Clapping song for opener would be fun, 'Purple' Gangsters or More Kicks could have work pretty well)...

You'd have though he'd release the album a couple of weeks before the gig - learn new tunes and all that.

I would be glad with something similar, maybe with Final Destination (but i think it is not very likely). I would like to hear HFE even on QPR/QAL concerts, so that would be dream come true. I would put Clapping' as intro and Journey's End as Outro as well, Clapping Song could have similar vibe as WWRY intro during his 1999 tour. He will probably do WWRY as well, afaik he played it during both of his solo tours.

He will probably do WWRY as well, afaik he played it during both of his solo tours. That's right. It was performed during the 1994/5 and 1998/9 gigs and they did a similar version with Brian during the Hall Of Fame induction in 2001. The very first time that it was performed was at the final Cross gig at Gosport 93 (but that version was a little bit different, sort of a prototype of the "final" Roger version). I hope that Roger unveils some "unexpected" Queen track like he did in the past, in the vein of "The Show Must Go On". While this set list is a guess of possible tracks, I hope he does something "new" like "Action This Day", "Drowse" (Acoustic), "Fight From The Inside" (a heavy rock version as the first song would be a killer!). Being Neil and Tyler they will probably do "Rock It" (they covered it a while back). I hope that they being hardcore fans and extremely talented musicians, encourage Roger to dig deeper in his catalogue. Who knows? One two days to find out!
