....i hope it's not his last hurrah.... he's 72, and granted that's knocking on a bit, but as long as he can stay healthy he could do it for another ten years. Yeah I know I know..... but then look at the Stones... Steppenwolf.... I dunno, and others...
I won't go and see him because I now live in America, but I would make the effort if I was still in Scotland. The news of this album is welcome!

He might have the health to hit the road for several years, but it looks like he's happy to play Queen's greatest hits forever with Adam and he hardly bothers to sing two songs, so it's a surprise to get an album and tour dropped like this. Perhaps he was too bored during his quarantine. I wouldn't bet he'll do it again. Too bad it's UK only. I hope he'll have at least one concert filmed and dumped on YouTube or sold in any format.

I’m definitely looking forward to it but I’m not spending $40 ($21 plus tax and shipping) for vinyl. If it gets a US release I’ll buy it then.

If it is, that would be great! If not, still great! I think it's the best cover art for any artist I've seen at least the past two years - simple colors and composition, but with a lot of subtlety and detail to them upon closer inspection, it fits in well with the title without seeming forced, and it is striking enough to catch the eye with a maximum of visualization in a minimum of actual graphics. I think I may have to get the LP just for the bigger sleeve...damn you, Roger Taylor! ;-P

How long after we’ve all pre-ordered the standard CDs and vinyl will the press release about all the limited edition versions come out?!?

It's solo push from both RT and BM which is why I bet not any good releases from the Queen side..........

I don't want to seem unfair or anything, but I don't trust Roger being all that brilliant on a solo tour today. I think that, outside of his Queen performances, he won't be too great singing and whatnot. My only reference being the Cross reunion gig in 2013: pretty sure he didn't rehearse much, if at all. My humble opinion anyway. How long after we’ve all pre-ordered the standard CDs and vinyl will the press release about all the limited edition versions come out?!? Right on time for you to be unable to cancel your preorders!

I would just suggest that Roger will probably try to do something different with his sets. He’s always put on a good show, and most of the time they’re pleasant surprises, so I imagine he won’t let down those lucky few who get to see him.
Wish I could go – I’m sure it’ll be a more intimate affair – but traveling overseas from Philly is not in the cards for a while yet…

Rather bland, non-descriptive song titles, if you ask me...

Rather bland, non-descriptive song titles, if you ask me... unless it's 14 individual tracks from the separated multitrack of ONE song? Outsider - ロジャー・テイラー Expected 2021/10/1 1 Track 1 2 Track 2 3 Track 3 4 Track 4 5 Track 5 6 Track 6 7 Track 7 8 Track 8 9 Track 9 10 Track 10 11 Track 11 12 Track 12 13 Track 13 14 Track 14

Or maybe it’s about a railroad switchyard and Roger is a conductor named Outsider who has to write special songs about each of the 14 tracks

Best actual news of the year so far. Actually, best actual news of the last two or three years.
Now I understand why he mentioned he was revisiting some of his earlier work. Either he's reworking some old songs, intends to play them live or both.

At this point, I wouldn't rule out a troll release with all tracks named "Track #XX", half of which feature Roger just babbling variations of phrases such as "Politicians suck", "Fun fun fun!", "Buy 'Live Around The World'"...

Right on time for you to be unable to cancel your preorders! I did think the same. Not sure when Roger last did a solo tour, but he's definitely slowed down in the last few years, particularly handing over most of his backing vocal duties to Tyler Warren. Tyler will be playing drums on the tour so I guess Roger will just be singing as he did in The Cross. His vocal range seems to be becoming less by the day and I never thought he had particularly great stage presence - in reality, who would compared to Freddie? Any guesses on which of his Queen songs he'll be playing? Hoping for a few deeper cuts if it's a more intimate gig. Drowse and Tenement Funster would be great to hear, The Invisible Man unlikely but would be amazing. Expecting Ga Ga, A Kind of Magic, TATDOOL...

Should be a great buzz I’m not you, but I know that if Roger announced a gig within driving distance of me I’d probably go – especially as this his first solo tour in 22 years, and I doubt he’ll do another one in another 22…!

His solo shows in 98 were good...94 decent too.
Even without "Deep cuts", the set list tends towards the eclectic just because it's his queen tracks...
I'm in love with my car, Tenement funster, man on fire, ride the wild wind. Plus generally am interesting cover, and even the bugger queen hits tend to get an overhaul.
Shame he's not coming within 2 hours of me (and even that is midweek). Yes, I know that there are plenty of countries he's never done even one show in, where thousands of fans would dearly love to see him.

My humble opinion anyway. The Cross wasn't even great 30 years ago. There's not much he could do with the material - it was mostly derivative rock then, never mind now. Bowie did a much better job with Tin Machine.
Roger's solo stuff is way better overall - far more creative, varied, and dynamic.
He's not Phil Collins in a chair. If he can stand up and sing, I'll be happy.

Been looking forward to a solo tour since 1999, which were the first set of gigs I ever went to see and used up a large part of my student loan for travel costs!
I know it won't be the same as it was then, his vocal range has dimished somewhat and the band is vastly different (with a couple of unknowns who sound a bit hipsterish having played with Goldfrapp) but I'm pleased he's kept Jason Falloon because he's a cracking guitarist and Spike is Spike!
Pleased with the new album being officially announced but I hope he doesn't do what he did with his last solo effort and recycle previously released songs on it but I think he will (found some track timings and the last track matches Journey's End) and that may well be a turn off for me but I'm going to keep an open mind and hope for the best.
I'm seeing the Manics in the same month as Roger's tour as well, who are the only other band I'm half bothered about seeing these days. Had to buy my wife tickets to see Echo and the Bunnymen for her birthday because I only ever end up going to see bands I like!!! (which is the Manics 90% of the time)

(which is the Manics 90% of the time) I’d be fine with Journeys End as long as there’s context for it. I was actually also fine with The Unblinking Eye on Fun On Earth, though I would’ve preferred the full version; the abridged version was stupid. And I didn’t care for the live version of Say It’s Not True, it sounded tinny and out of place. Everything else is perfect though! I swear!

Hard to believe someone with such a multi-instrumental talent isn't more well known. His and Neil's Queen stuff on YouTube was awesome, and Tyler's rendition of the complete Permanent Waves album by Rush is also well worth checking out.
