Hi! Anyone have any records from this tour? Live at the Brixton Academy is a recording of The Brian May Band's first show in London on June 15 1993. The album was released on CD, Cassette, LP and VHS in 1994, and remains the group's only release as a collective.

Ok, I remember 2 things very vaguely, one is when a roadie brought out Brians guitar before the band came on it got just as loud a cheer as anything else that night and another is thinking Cozy Powells drums at the start of TYMD sounded really bad because he always did a little roll taher than the bass/snare/bass thing that Roger does and is on the record, it still annoys me to this day!

Maybe so, but musically it kicks ass. I gave it a spin last year and it still holds up well.
I'd say that's the most solid of all the Queen solo albums, at least on par with Barcelona. That was such a great band.

Oh musically it's a killer, no problem with that. And yes, great band! I just thought it was a terrible album cover.

If you have it on vinyl could you please send it my way? I sold mine when needing cash and have regretted it ever since? 😂 Headlong and the Bo Rhap solo section are amazing!

Dissapointing that Brian decided to hold back the re-release of this show. The description under this video says a lot: www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3qqRZhWzDIBack To The Light album is wonderful. Barcelona is just incredible.

It’s a real shame Brian hasn’t followed through with a box set rounding up his solo work. It’s long overdue and it would be nice to have a good proshot concert like Barcelona or something from the Another World tour.

Indeed, it's criminal that this show hasn't been put out on blu-ray.

Back To The Light album is wonderful. Barcelona is just incredible Totally agree about BTTL. I remember first hearing it and thinking what a great Queen album it would have been. Above all, Brian's classic guitar sound was back, and he had Cozy Powell on drums!! What a powerhouse, and what a bloody tragedy it was to lose Cozy only a few years later.

The gig in Hamburg was my very first concert, just 15 years old. What a great night that was! Headlong was a total killer, and after Resurrection the audience was totally exhausted. Love of my life was pure emotion, the audience was singing as if they wanted to blow the roof of. Too bad that Brian did not continue his solo carreer. And I still hope that he will release a gig from the Another World tour one day.

Still hoping there will be an official release from the AW tour someday.

I maintain that had Cozy Powell not died, his solo career would've continued for much longer than it did, and the majority of this Queen+ stuff probably wouldn't have happened. Apart from Last Horizon (which Cozy didn't play on), pretty sure Brian hasn't played a single one of those 1990s songs since. He loved that band so much.
Same reason why David Gilmour can't play much of the Floyd catalogue anymore without Richard Wright.

Not in the 70s he wasn't. He was Ritchie Blackmore's right hand man both on and off stage.
Ask anyone who played in Rainbow what Ritchie was like. It ain't pretty.

And now I'm eating my words, as Brian played a bit of Driven By You on the radio the other day.

He played hard and lived fast, a true RnR legend, and taken far, far too soon.

Echoes is one of them. Surely the reason why Wright came on the road with Gilmour on the 2006 tour was because they knew he was ill. This is the last full performance of Echoes. The last few minutes are basically a musical conversation Gilmour and Wright. There just aren't words.

Back to the Light tour? I was at the Whitley Bay gig, cant remember a thing about it though. I too was at Whitley Bay Ice Rink. My first ever Queen related gig. Totally remember the Red Special being brought out to cheers, the whole thing blew me away.... I was 15 so it was also a bit of a blur for me

I was lucky enough to attend Brian's concert in Madrid and it was fantastic. The band were supertight (especially Cozy Powell!), the venue was a really small club (I guess no more than 1,000 / 2,000 people gathered), the sound was killer. The backing vocalists caught us by surprise, but we got used to them , and they were so nice to look at... The setlist was the standard one, although we were treated to a couple of surprises: Brian sang the intro to Mustapha and he also played a truly magnificent Teo Torriate (I still can't figure out why). I even had the chance to speak to Jim Beach before the concert. I saw his familiar figure passing by next to us, simply taking in the atmosphere and I guess he was checking out on the audience. I shouted 'Hullo, Jim' not really recalling he was Queen's manager. He spotted me, approached me and was most kind. He answered to some of my questions (which were basicaly what John and Roger were doing; I can't remember details but I do remember that when I asked him if there would be a new Queen album he said yes, they were kind of doing something about it). When I told my friends who he was they said I was an idiot, I should have asked him if I could meet Brian. They were right!
