Here we go guys... today i use my Canon on a precious book i have. The results is the pics of the complete master tapes of all the albums in studio. For who don't knows, the master tape is the result of the mixing of the multitracks tapes. Once you have the stereo (sometimes mono, not for Queen) master you must proceed to the mastering operation. This operation is fundamental because balance the EQ, dynamics etc... for every support (vinyl, cd, tapes, sacd etc...). Every support has is own type of mastering. So... everytime you read Re-Mastered on a cover is just take the initial master tape and prepared again for the new support. Re-mastered is NOT re-mixing. For that you must start from the original multitrack tapes. 15 jpg pics at 300dpi. For some of the photos i use photoshop just to make readable the writings. Queen Master Tapes

Amazing stuff! Interesting that:
Hot Space seems to have an alternate tracklist... judging by the timings and some fancy guesswork, here's the best I can muster, but if anyone else has any guesses, I'm open to them!
Side 1: Action This Day Las Palabras De Amor Cool Cat Body Language Back Chat
Side 2: Put Out the Fire Dancer Calling All Girls Under Pressure Life Is Real Staying Power
And also Princes of the Universe was supposed to open AKOM, with One Vision closing it. That's pretty cool. It's also nice seeing the definitive dates.

I was unable to scan with my a4 scanner so i use my reflex. Some pics must be adjusted to remove some little distorsions. This is the best i can.

Had they made Action This Day the first track, the album would've been even more panned than it was. But replace it with Soul Brother and you've got yourself a different album. Hindsight being 20/20 and all that.
Action This Day, Life Is Real, and Cool Cat are all a couple seconds within one another, which also can slightly vary after mastering - but it makes sense to have the more upbeat song as track one. But still, yikes.

In Peru, AKOM LP starts with Princes Of The Universe and ends with One Vision. It also has a unique sleeve like the AKOM 12". Needless to say it is a much sought after item. www.discogs.com/fr/Queen-A-Kind-Of-Magic/release/6120799

Ahh, so one of the recent official releases? The Italian ones maybe?
There have been so many I can't keep up.

Some more thoughts:
Queen II side 2 - looks like those are dB markings, as they're trying to get the levels right. And with the given date of 1-19-74, it looks like it took another month or so to sort it all out. The March 9, 1974 Sounds has Freddie saying they'd finished the work on the album "three weeks ago," but of course the interview could've been a month old at that point.
(More Of That) Jazz - interesting. Also interesting to see "Prime Jive" written in pencil. It seems they fought about that one right up til the last minute.
Hang On In There, Chinese Torture, and Stealin are tagged onto the end of The Miracle, but not My Life Has Been Saved. This separates the tracks they wanted as B sides from the afterthoughts.
Innuendo's mastering was done on 9-25-90 - a lot earlier than I'd imagined. I've read that My Secret Fantasy was demoed in November, so if true, add it to the small list of tracks begun after Innuendo was completed.
Nice to see Innuendo was mastered analog (at 30 ips even) even if it was recorded digital. So this means Made In Heaven was the only Queen album to be mastered digital.

Very interesting! Thanks a lot.
Does anyone noticed a note about 'Tear It Up' without fade out with duration around 3:45 on 'The Works' master tape?

Innuendo (the song) is one of those, and the mastering was done on 1990-09-25. Innuendo (the album) was compiled on 1990-11-29 and mastered digitally at Metropolis Studios, London by Kevin Metcalfe, assisted by Crispin Murray.

Yes, that's intriguing... I know the production masters of A Kind Of Magic were sent to several EMI territories (including Argentina) on 1986-04-22, before the cutting engineers proposed the alternative running order and with that an early fade of the title track of about 15 seconds. Then, on 1986-05-06 a telex was sent to those territories asking for the masters NOT TO BE USED. We should check if the Peruvian LP has this longer fade in A Kind Of Magic.

Right - it's just the one song mentioned on the box.
So it was mastered analog first, and then digital? What's the point of doing it analog first if it's going to become 1s and 0s down the line anyway? Was there certain outboard gear that could produce the sounds they wanted for that track that couldn't be done digitally at the time?

Well, I'm pretty sure the reason for Innuendo particularly was to get a backing track ASAP to work on the video, which was edited analogically on those days.

That could well be, like the explosion effect at the end of the "Explosive Version". Or maybe it had something to do with that they needed the audio in time for the promo video and because editing this particular video was mostly done on the computer, they needed it in 0's and 1's.

Still wander why they done the Explosive version of Innuendo lol. Because it's a bomb of a track. No seriously, it's like their BoRhap of the 90s.
It can be like a puzzle:
"The Miracle" ended with "Was It All Worth It" which already sounded like a goodbye to the fans.
Freddie sung about the cruel world at the time. If you switch "The Show Must Go On" with "Innuendo" (beginning and start) it even makes more sense. It was the last Queen album released when Freddie was still alive.
With the album "Innuendo" their show went on and everything ended with the song "InnuENDo".

"Too Much Love Will Kill You" was also mastered analogically, right? It's the only such case in MIH. How many post-AKOM tracks were processed like this?

I think Too Much Love Will Kill You was also mastered analogically, as I remember David Richards saying the single edit was done splicing the tape with a razor as in the old days.
