In a new Interview with Goldmine Magazine Brian was asked if he thinks about the possibility of recording a new Solo Album. He confirms this, but says it would probably be an instrumental album. Here is an article about the interview: www.blabbermouth.net/news/queens-brian-may-says-his-next-solo-album-would-probably-be-instrumental/I would be more than happy to get new music from Brian, allthough I am not too thrilled about instrumentals. Let's see if this will ever happen...his agenda is more than filled...

I'll believe it when I see it. According to that interview, he's not even started on the Another World and Starfleet reissues yet, and next year his attention will be devoted to rehearsals and touring.

As great as that would be, I'd rather hear the live Queen recording he was dangling in January, getting us all excited for a great 50th Anniversary year...

Honestly, an instrumental album would be brilliant. I'm imagining tuneful melodies similar in style to Last Horizon and rich guitar orchestrations similar to what he did on tracks like Good Company and All Dead All Dead. One can only hope!

I saw the same article posted in Blabbermouth but it slipped my mind to both read it and post a link to it here myself. Hopefully an instrumental album from Brian - if/when it comes to pass - will be brilliant. I agree with the sentiments above re. waiting to see if he can fit it into his agenda.

Wasn't Brian working on an album with Tony Iommi? I'm sure I read something about that a good while back.

I would love an instrumental album, if he has the material and right ideas that is. But I don't trust we'll see any significant Queen or related release in the coming year, as usual. There's too much talking and no actual albums ever coming out, save for the wonderful "Outsider". I'll believe it when I see it. According to that interview, he's not even started on the Another World and Starfleet reissues yet, and next year his attention will be devoted to rehearsals and touring. Step 1: Normalize audio Step 2: "Adjust frequencies" Step 3: Slap "Brian May Gold Series" sticker 1 hour tops. We could have done a 99.99% identical job with BTTL, and that's what "Another World" will sadly be like save for a massive surprise. As great as that would be, I'd rather hear the live Queen recording he was dangling in January, getting us all excited for a great 50th Anniversary year... After a couple months of teasing, he finally confirmed that Roger vetoed any potential release of the recording. "It's never coming out, LOL!"

Wasn't Brian working on an album with Tony Iommi? I'm sure I read something about that a good while back. I don't think "working" is the proper word. If I remember correctly, he heard a collection of unreleased riffs from Tony, they agreed it'd be a good idea to complete the songs and record/release them together, and I guess that's it. Once now and then the press digs this story back again, but I don't think I've heard about them actually recording the songs or anything.

Maybe Roger vetoed because of his upcoming album. He was maybe afraid that fans had no more money left to buy his album after the re-re-re-release of GH. But anyway, it’s a great 50th anniversary year for us fans.

With upcoming Another World reissue, what do you thing - is there any chance that he plans to finish his Golden Series with a brand new album? I still hope for this kind of surprise, but I am afraid it's pure dream... But New Horizons single also came out of the blue...

Brian has spoken (last year sometime?) about putting out an album of his favourite classical orchestrations. We know he's touched on covering Beethoven and Dvorak.
I'd love to hear it.

Always surprises me how few tracks Brian(/Queen) had with the Red Special as the 'lead vocal'. Last Horizon is great and he must be quite proud of it. Was a single, toured it with the BMB, Kerry Ellis and even with Queen+, being one of the few (only?) solo tracks to make it on to a Queen+ setlist. I'd love for him to explore further in that direction.
