I remember listening to the audience tape way back when, and it wasn't a good night for him vocally. There was ultimately little that could compete with the Brixton show, so the project was shelved.
With all due respect to Eric Singer (a killer drummer and a lovely man) - without Cozy Powell it just wasn't the same band anymore. Pretty sure Brian only did the tour because it was booked and he had to. Yeah, Cozy's death took the wind out of his sails. I honestly think if he had stuck to the semi-acoustic set for the whole tour, as he had on the promotional dates, and brought the superb Steve Ferrone along (provided he wasn't otherwise booked), it would've been a wildly different and daring approach, while also being a tribute, in a way, to Cozy: you can get any flashy, technically competent drummer (I don't know much about Eric Singer, but he certainly plays drums) to play Cozy's parts, but there's none better than him, so why even try? Well you could use the same reasoning about Cozy replacing Carl Palmer. There is no better than Carl Palmer so why even try. Most musicians are the best at playing their own material or material that they were part of creating, but that doesn't mean they can't be replaced.

Box set looks nice. Blue vinyl is a great choice. But as we can see, they didn't change the approach. Set will be 'empty' as the previous one without any great unreleased material. Probably several unheard tracks on disc 2.
From the first promo image we can see a fair knowledge of Brian's solo career from the production team. Cyborg was a main theme of Rise Of The Robots II, but they used image of Rise Of The Robots original game in booklet.
Today we'll see, if there's a surprise inside the set.

It includes a pin badge of the star hidden behind the red planet. I’ll look forward to Brixton box set and hopefully they’ll include the pin badge from that era - a red special badge.
I agree with CMI that the vinyl color is nice.
It’s something to look forward to. I can’t get rely on postage to Australia, so I’ll miss out on the package with nice artwork, and rely on the streaming service I’ve signed up to.

Finally something interesting! Disc 2 is another world (pun intended) compared to the BTTL one (that I still refuse to buy). I will be definitely buying this one (not the box set, I'll stick to the 2CD version).

I like the boxset and its contents, but a €20 price increase from the BTTL-release and the €50 increase from that inflated price for the signed edition…… I passed on the signed one. Probably a cassette and picture disc to be announced, I’ll use the autograph-upcharge for those.

A tad better than the previous one. I'm not really sure but are the tracks "Slow Down, Wilderness, The Last Great Optimist, I'll Be Prayin' and Business Stings tracks that we never heard before?

Slow Down and Wilderness were on the original. Being On My Own wasn't. Curious that he's put that as an extra track on Disc 1, rather than on Disc 2.

A tad better than the previous one. I'm not really sure but are the tracks "Slow Down, Wilderness, The Last Great Optimist, I'll Be Prayin' and Business Stinks tracks that we never heard before? Disc 1 is 'just' the regular album as we got it in 1998, nothing new at all (but that's not a surprise and not a problem either, that is how the album should look after all) Being On my Own was actually a hidden track on the CD in 1998, curious that it's become 'unhidden' now. Disc 2 has some interesting stuff. Hot Patootie, F.B.i., Only Make Believe and Maybe Baby were B-sides (although I'm not sure if this version of F.B.I. should be different, seeing the version-title) Brian Talks and Business Rock On Cozy Mix were on the UK Business single as a tribute to Cozy Otro Lugar was only on some spanish compilation album and quite hard to get, so very happy with that one. My Boy was only on some compilation album and quite hard to get as well, so very happy with this one as well. On My Way Up & Hammer To Fall Live In Paris were on the Japan-only Red Special mini-album, which is not easy to get nowadays. Cyborg Solo Instrumental Version, Business Stings (not 'Stinks' ;-) ), On My Way Up Guitar Version are alternative versions of known tracks, but unreleased as far as I know. I'll Be Prayin' & The Last Great Optimist don't ring a bell and sound unreleased to me, very curious about these ones. One thing not on this set that was 'released' back then is the promotional edit version of Why Don't We Try Again and the US-only promotional edit of Business, which is not a big deal, but could've been a nice addition.

It’s very expensive for what it is - 2 CDs and a vinyl lp, with a booklet that is just a bigger version of the original cd booklet.
Audio should really include at least a couple of demos or alternate working versions of the album tracks.
It (as should the BTTL box) should also have a visual element (dvd/blu ray) with promo videos, live footage (VH1 unplugged session), EPK, interviews from the time, and the live streamed rehearsal and recording sessions.

Is ‘Being on my Own’ perhaps the title of the hidden instrumental piece that comes a couple of minutes after ‘Another World’ at the end of the original album? If so it seems he’s now just split it out to be separately credited?

And from press release (about bonus disc): Also featured on the disc is a transcendent Spanish sung version of ‘Another World,’ ‘Otro Lugar,’ alongside a blistering instrumental attack on ‘Cyborg’ and a hard rocking guitar version of ‘On My Way Up’. Fantastic live cuts highlight The Brian May Band’s live form at the time: dedicated by Brian to “absent friends,” ‘Hammer to Fall’ starts tenderly before roaring into rock’n’roll life, while ‘On My Way Up’ brims with pep. Three alternative takes on ‘Business’ reveal Brian’s work on ’stings’ for the TV series. And the disc closes with ‘My Boy,’ a heartfelt piano ballad recorded by Brian in 1980 and until now, almost unknown to the public.

Does anyone could clarify the source of claim that 'My Boy' was recorded in 1980s (circa 1982)?

Does anyone could clarify the source of claim that 'My Boy' was recorded in 1980s (circa 1982)? As far as I recall from back in the day is that there were three versions of My Boy: 1982, 1988/9 (Miracle or BTTL sessions?), 1998 (AW outtake - most likely the eventually released in dec 1998 in the Lullabies With A Difference CD). The existence of that song had been a very strong rumour but never confirmed until the official release announcement. I really doubt that the LWAD CD was recorded in the early 80's, but you never know. 'It's A Beautiful Day' always sounded 1990/1ish to me until I learnt that it was from 1980.

+1 for the welcome inclusion of My Boy (although the mp3 that we've all had for years sounds fine anyway!!)

Wow, at last! We're getting 5 never-heard-before tracks and versions. "Business Stings", "I'll Be Praying" and "The Last Great Optimist" may not be covers or cover-like songs ala SWAFIB, but actual original songs. Can't wait!
Apparently, the hidden thirteenth track has always been called "Being On My Own", Brian said so in an interview back in the day.
LOL @ "Another Disc".

I don't want any of the box set editions, and the standard 2xCD is a good price, but I'm still going to wait and see what it is on Amazon. 😄

"Business Stings" is probably just the three different Frank Stubbs tunes together on one track. The press release says as much. So not really "new". I hope the other two are actually NEW songs and not just demo/alternate titles.

Let's see here... Here’s my prediction for disc 2: At a minimum: Business (Rock On Cozy mix)Another World (single mix) Hot Patootie FBI Only Make Believe Maybe Baby On My Way Up (Live In Paris) Hammer To Fall (Live In Paris) Brian Talks (A Tribute To Cozy Powell) Otro Lugar (Another World en español)Should be included and maybe will be though I could see them not being included: Il Colosso What Are We Made Of The Amazing Spider-Man Business and On My Way Up (original Frank Stubbs versions) Why Don’t We Try Again (promo edit) Cyborg (original video game mixes) My Boy (released in ‘99 on a charity CD — Lullabies With a Differences I think – but recorded ca. ‘80-82, so in terms of release chronology it fits but not recording chronology) Would be nice to be included but probably won’t be: His Latest Flame Teasin’ Around Dream of Thee (I doubt he’ll rerelease Furia but this song deserves wider recognition) One Rainy Wish original mix Pie in the sky: Albert Hall Il Colosso demo No One But You demo (the album was originally going to be a covers album called Heroes, hence the three covers on the album and the others across various singles, with NOBY the album closer but then he gave Roger his demo and it became a Queen song, I’m sure we all know that but whatever) Being On My Own full version (no idea if one exists but who knows) Well I got most of the minimum, I guess the Another World single mix could technically be on Disc 1, if Being On My Own is now a standalone track... Curious about the version of FBI. I never really rated the track before, mostly because of the programmed drums, so having a live take of some sort will be nice. Also On My Way Up guitar version... maybe it's like the guitar versions of Too Much Love Will Kill You, Just One Life, or Nothin' But Blue, i.e. an instrumental with the Red Special "singing". Genuinely surprised with Cyborg (solo instrumental), Business Stings (curious title, either it's a verb or, more likely, musical "stings" from the Frank Stubbs show), I'll Be Prayin' and The Last Great Optimist. I didn't think Brian would ever release any previously unreleased songs on any of his reissues.
