There's a reference to Seven Seas of Rhye in Lily of the Valley:
Messenger from Seven Seas has flown To tell the king of Rhye he's lost his throne

I've sometimes wondered if the line "The days were endless we were crazy we were young" in TATDOOL is referncing to the line "When you're young, and you're poor, and you're crazy - young and your crazy..." in Tenement Funster. Maybe it's a bit far fetched, but they're both Roger's, and both lyrics deal with the idea of good things/moments in life. Go figure...

While reading over the lyrics of 'It's Late', I came across the line "Now you tell me you're leaving / And I just can't believe it's true". I started humming along to the first line, but then in my head I imagined a little arpeggiated run up the piano before I got to the second line. Then it hit me: "Now you say you're leaving me / And I just can't believe it's true / You're my kind of lover..." It's almost certainly coincidence – the act of a person telling another person they're leaving them, and that other person being in disbelief is certainly not unique to either 'It's Late' or 'Your Kind of Lover' – but I found it funny that after almost 30 years of intense (sometimes too intense) familiarity with both songs I only just now noticed that. I'm sure someone else knew about it long before me, though! So – any other interesting callbacks or tie-ins to other songs you've noticed? 'Soul Brother' doesn't count. This probably just shows how thick I am, but it took about 30 years, and someone to point it out, that the instrumental intro to A Day At The Races is the riff from White Man (or vice versa). Also, the first chords in Brian's slow version of Hammer To Fall are very similar to those of It's Late. So much so, I almost leapt out of my seat when he started to play it at the Royal Albert Hall, thinking it was going to be It's Late, which wouldn't have been a good idea as I was seated right above a very steep set of steps! I remember thinking the same whilst listening to tapes from that tour !
There are a couple Hot Space tour recordings where Brian gets very close to playing the It's Late intro in his bit before Now I'm Here.

Brian really digs the A -> D transition using that specific voicing. You can hear the same riff one octave higher on both A Kind Of Magic and We Will Rock You as well. All ripped off from Alright Now by Free, of course... Was Paul Kossoff the first to use this specific chord shape, though ?
Either way, it's hardly a ripoff if it's merely a chord. That'd be like saying every usage of a C major scale is a ripoff of Mozart because he used it in a piano sonata.

In 'The Loser in the End', there's the sound of a door closing after the line "All she gets is Goodbye Ma". In 'Mother Love' after the line "Mama please, let me back inside", there's a sound which I think is supposed to represent a door slamming shut. Although it's not a musical reference, I believe the album cover of The Miracle could be a reference to something Freddie said in one of his David Wigg interviews. He expresses frustration at Queen being like a "four headed gorgon" and in the same interview mentions the only way for the band to survive going forward is if they all have an equal share of the songs. Perhaps the idea of the gorgon came back to Freddie when they agreed to share writing credits for the album? I've always thought it was a bizarre choice for an album cover - my theory would at least make it a somewhat logical choice. i think the Miracle LP cover makes for very clear symbolism: The band are telling the world they're entirely collaborative and equal.

Its Late in ‘82 would’ve been something else… It’s Late in Japan in ‘82 would’ve been something SOMETHING else…

In The Miracle (even though "All God's People" was still unreleased at that point):
If All God's People could be free To live in perfect harmony It's a miracle

The Invisible Man was mentioned briefly in A Human Body. Then he got his own song on The Miracle...

I don't know what it is, but, Don't try Suicide & Body Language both sound similar to me, mainly the chorus...not the lyrics, just the music even though theyre a different tempo..i don't know? Maybe "Suicide" influenced the writing of "BL"?

I hear faint backing vocals after the start of the ethereal “organ” solo (after Brian sings “and gone” in the second chorus), when the “organ” swells and peaks (oo-er), like someone (probably Brian) is humming along with it. It’s very faint though.

Plus the very obvious Bicycle Race/Fat Bottomed Girls (duh!), and No More Of That Jazz and I Want To Break Free (12" version), which includes snippets of every song on their respective album. Isn't there another 12" version with snippets of songs on its album? The instrumental version of Machines (or Back to Humans) had some earlier songs mixed into it like Ogre Battle, Flash, and Play the Game I think. But none from The Works. I loved that mix and used to play it all the time!

In Some Things That Glitter, song from Q+PR TCR album if you forget, May wrote: "Don't wonder how, don't ask me why".
In Cosmos Rockin'm which from the same album is: "Don't ask me how and don't ask me why".
It's in verse, which was added later, because in original Roger's demo Whole House Rockin this verse and the next one about cosmos are missing. Problably they were added by Brian to make the song more Cosmic? :-)

Roger`s two sharp pencils(get bad) has nearly the same bass rift as Another One Bites The Dust! Just been listening to it and I thought it was John playing. I know John had a helping hand on Strange Frontier with re-mixing and a guest , but this could be a non credited guest spot.
