There’s many a comment about the quality of recordings both visual and audio, studio and live. I’m wondering if any of you can share your feelings on the vinyl that was exclusive to the News of the World boxset?
I don’t have a turntable. Some fans here may have a turntable but not one of decent enough quality to evaluate the sound the this unique (or not so unique) sounding release.
What’s peoples opinions and your overall feeling the record?

For me, I don't hear any discerning differences between this pure analog cut and the vinyl that was included in the Queen Vinyl Collection box set. I wonder what others here have to say too though.

The vinyl was meant to be unique in some way. It was certainly implied the listener was going to hear the album differently. Unfortunately it excludes many fans if something is made exclusive to a particular format.
I’ve listened to different CD-masters of Young Americans by Bowie and the album definitely has a different feel. This isn’t the Bowie boxset versions, it’s just a couple different masters that were released as standalone discs over the years.
The News of the World analogue cut should stand out to fans. That doesn’t seem to be the case here. If I created a topic on ‘Queen songs that sound like Phil Collins songs ‘ then there would most likely be more opinions on the table.
Are there any Phil Collins fans on this forum, and if so, what were your opinions of the analogue cut of News of the World?

To be honest, I couldn't really tell the difference either. My ears aren't great though, so I'm probably not the best judge.

If I remember, there is always a lot of groaning here and elsewhere about how the vinyl box sets are inferior because they're always cut from digital sources. So Queen to satiate the "fans" they cut it from the ancient analog source, and guess what, the difference was negligible. It's still great to have, especially since to buy a mint copy from 1977 is just as much as the box set.

"about how the vinyl box sets are inferior because they're always cut from digital sources."
Not so much inferior as inherently pointless. But, the "vinyl and analog are always better" and "I can't tell the difference so it doesn't matter" crowds are both simply wrong. Vinyl will always have inferior bass reproduction compared to any digital format - that's just a mechanical fact - and analog signal processing, especially compression, will treat transients differently from digital signal processing, and usually give a different kind of saturation that is often, but not always, subjectively pleasant. This saturation, by the way, is not lost if the analog signal is subsequently digitized in a high quality fashion.
To be clear: there's nothing wrong with liking vinyl. But people make unfounded and unrealistic claims about them all the time, and *that* does bug me.

Here's another unrealistic claim about vinyl - Vinyl definitely sounds more layered where the CD is always just surface. And in my set up, the bass sounds amazing on my vinyl records For me, vinyl almost always sounds better, the one constant exception is the Dolby Atmos mixes and other surround formats. In this area, vinyl can't touch digital

Thank you for the replies. I’ve never heard this vinyl and what you say it does not stand out in particular way.
You’re right, it is great for those that do desire the equivalent of the original cut.
I’ll be keen to listen to Queen when they make it to Atmos mixes. The definitely did an amazing job with the Opera album. Prophets Song is extraordinary.
The recent George Michael album collection sounds amazing, at the first two albums are knockout. I’m looking forward to Bowie that is rumoured to be getting mixed. Station to Station, Blackstar, Young Americans and of course Scary Monsters. Space Oddity is breathtaking in Atmos.
