It's easy to be critical when we don't know what's available in the vaults, but I think his BTTL reissue was somewhat disappointing, giving us just the pre-released B sides. He must have had other takes of stuff, and perhaps could have included a couple of jams with Cozy, which would have been nicely poignant, or he could have given us the videos. And he could have spent a bit more on that sodding wonky sticker! 😄 Well, there's still Brixton in the pipeline. Let's hope he'll give us live bonuses at least to fill up a couple of extra discs for the boxset - such as his South American tour videos, as someone pointed out earlier. I'm still hopeful once he finishes re-releasing everything he'll surprise us with an actual release: anything from the Another World tour. That's a gap in his discography that needs to be filled, and we know in advance there are bonuses available in the vauts, such as the VH1 acoustic performance. Perhaps a decent response to Brixton combined with the great response to Roger's Outsider Tour Live could motivate him to go and close this chapter at last.

We know he shelved the Albert Hall video release of 98. I was there and.... yeah it wasn't the greatest gig ever BUT there was nothing particular bad. Maybe enough time has passed for him to dust it off and issue it. So odd that none of us have seen even a single frame of footage anywhere!! VERY well locked up in the vault!!
P.S. It may not even have been edited... maybe just a live vision-mix on the night for reference with all individual cameras recorded in isolation for a future edit... that never happened??

I was there too - right up in the gods, directly above a very steep set of stairs! It was an odd show - Cozy was missed, and they seemed to stumble around at the beginning of the show with a couple of covers (OK, one was Dance With The Devil), before Business kicked in. I remember when he played the start of the slow version of Hammer To Fall, I nearly jumped out of my seat (and would have fallen down the stairs!) as I thought it was going to be It's Late. I also seem to remember it was a f**king cold night and we were queueing up outside for what seemed like ages. But, it was a good night!

Haha me too!!! I was up in the gods - we might've sat next to each other!!
He forgot to introduce a song I think... so 'introduced' it afterwards (for the video edit perhaps) I have the bootleg so I'll check.
He did seem out of sorts that night... like his mind wasn't on the gig.
As much as I loved Cozy's playing, I loved Eric Singer too (although I'm also a massive KISS fan. so...)
And the whole Conway Twitty thing was VERY misjudged I thought. Pretty cringeworthy actually.

Have to be honest, I never thought Eric Singer was a patch on Cozy. I remember thinking his sound was quite 'thin' at the gig, but it might just have been his different style of playing.
I hadn't seen Brian before, and I never saw Queen live with Freddie (one of life's big regrets - always thought there would be a next time), so I didn't come out of the gig thinking it had been a bit ropey. I was just happy to have seen him, despite the slightly disjointed set list.

I think the original EP ran for about 28 minutes, so yes, he's going to have to stretch that to make a credible box set. Maybe we'll get a three hour version of Blues Breaker spread across three CDs? 😄 When this came out my favorite thing about it was the seemingly raw spontaneity of it all. It really struck me that on all three songs he wasn’t concerned with everything being “perfect” either: I think his liner notes mentioned them leaving in the string break (EVH’s I think) and Brian’s inability to let songs end properly what with the false endings. Hopefully they were recording from the moment everyone plugged in and started playing. I’ve given up hope of ever hearing an entire Queen recording session from start to finish (but my fingers are still crossed for One Vision, lol). Maybe this is the closest we’ll ever get with Brian and his friends.

Never mind "box set", it could all be dealt with on a single Blu Ray! Original mix in HD, new mix in HD, surround mix, virtual mixing desk allowing different takes from Brian or Eddie to be selected. Single versions, other outtakes, instrumental versions. The video, remastered. New video interview with Brian ("Memories of Ed", and so on). Photos, artwork and scans of memorabilia. That's probably true, but I'd rather have the CDs as well, as Blurays are difficult to transfer to other devices for portable listening. 🙂 Fine, add a download code and/or a USB stick.

Honestly, I'd have been pleased with a single cd release of Star Fleet Project, no extras whatsoever, and anything else is just icing on the cake (unless it *only* comes as an overpriced box set). BTTL was already easily available on cd and the reissue adds very little of interest, but as Star Fleet Project was only available spread out over a couple of cd-singles that are, obviously, long out of print, I think *any* Star Fleet release is welcome. This seems like the polar opposite of perennial Greatest Hits-reissues, and I fully expect to be pleased with this release!

Is it me...or you are just starting doing predictions which won´t be real and when press release is shown, you´ll be disappointed (again)? Make yourself a favour...Don´t wait big nice bonuses...Just take a depth look what Brian has released o0ver the last 2 boxes of solo stuff.
What will he release as bonus of a mini lp when you got two snippets from his second proper album and NOTHING for his first, which comprised 5 years of recording?
It´s fine of dreaming...But remember it...You´re talking of QPL.

Wise words similar to the old adage (idiom? phrase?) of “Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.” And I’ve been doing exactly that for how many decades now? But in this case I think that Brian was moved by watching the “Get Back” documentary and seeing/hearing the Beatles creating songs and I hope he wants to give his fans a similar experience. Hopefully he’s seen/heard the feedback of how much we all love disc 2 of the Miracle box. And what better way to give value to (or enough material for) the next Brian May Gold Series release?

It's just a bit of a shame he couldn't have done it with the last two, when there was possibly more material to work with. I still think it's going to be a stretch to make a credible box set out of three tracks. But, we'll see.

And there was also the Resurrection japanese release, a much better option to have it all on the same CD. I remember playing it to death back in the day and feeling so lucky after finding it in a record store. It was the first time I had the chance to listen to Star Fleet Project and was blown away. www.discogs.com/release/1962420-Brian-May-With-Cozy-Powell-Resurrection

so with a fair wind and good will, it's possible this may see the light of day by June 2023? 7 months - for a project for which ALL of the material already exists? That's almost TWICE as long as the entire recording process for ANATO. Unbelievable. only real excuse for this kind of timeframe would be if Brian is actually not aware of what recordings exist, but with an Archivist with such an industry-wide reputation and regard, I very much doubt this can be the reason.

I am wondering if the delay is due to manufacturing delays in vinyl these days. A couple of other bands with new releases that I collect have had to delay the vinyl portion of their new albums releases.
Brian does say this:
"He promises: "It won’t be just a remaster- we’re remixing everything from highest definition transfers from the original multitracks . You’ll still be able to hear the old mixes, but I’m excited about what we’re cooking up now. All the original material - every detail rescued - magnificently remixed - and much more !!! And lots of moments of EVH in his prime that nobody ever heard before. Wish I could unleash it all now - but such is the state of record production now it will take until meet Summer to turn it around. It WILL Be worth the wait - I promise !!!"

That’s what I understood from Brian’s post 👍🏼 I don't hold my breath. I have lost credibility in such statements by Brian. Before releasing the BTTL box, he promised that it would include unearthed stuff from the vaults. Exact quote was: “We've unearthed a few outtakes and bits and pieces". Reading the final track list a few weeks later was such a huge disappointment. Not that he cares, but I have neglected myself from purchasing whatever product related to that release since. I hope that this time I am proven wrong, but based on facts, he loves teasing. He has barked without finally biting many times: about set lists, the early Queen recording, etc.

Here's hoping the remaster improves the mixing, but indeed, the three main tracks have been available on CD for a while if you know where to look. Only "Son Of Star Fleet" has never been released digitally, but then again it could be recreated from the main track... kind of.

Brian says it’ll be remixed (although the original mixes will be available too - so they’ll be remastered)

Only "Son Of Star Fleet" has never been released digitally, but then again it could be recreated from the main track... kind of. Technically 'Son Of Star Fleet' is just the complete 'Star Fleet album version' with the 'Star Fleet single version' edited out in the middle. Vice versa, 'Star Fleet single version' is just the complete 'Star Fleet album version' with beginning and ending (that together form 'Son Of Star Fleet') edited out. The single version however has an extra keyboard part of a few seconds at the beginning that is nowhere available on the album version.

I enjoyed "Blues Breaker " and "Let Me Out" but I thought that the " Starfleet" track had some great guitar interplay but let down by naff lyrics. I suppose I would be interested in buying but not at a stupid price tag.

We might get lucky and it may be released as a 2 CD set, like the two earlier albums.

Yo be honest, and looking the previous releases of the Gold Series, I only expect a CD1 with the new mix, and a second CD with the original mix and Son Of Star Fleet

We might get lucky and it may be released as a 2 CD set, like the two earlier albums. If there's more than an hour of content, that would be a pleasant surprise. I can't remember whether there are 2 or 3 7" edits of Star Fleet, but say there are 3 at 4 minutes each. Add Son Of... Plus the original 28 minutes and that's a solid 45 minutes of content. Adding enough to justify a second disc would require quite a bit....
