I enjoyed "Blues Breaker " and "Let Me Out" but I thought that the " Starfleet" track had some great guitar interplay but let down by naff lyrics. I suppose I would be interested in buying but not at a stupid price tag. The naff (haven't heard that word in ages haha!!!) lyrics are hardly Brian's fault though!! ;-)

Ummm, who wrote the lyrics? Paul Bliss... (he wrote the music too) You do know it's a cover of a TV theme and nothing to do with Brian, yes? ;-)

I did not know that! I know that Brian's son loved the show and assumed that he had a go on what I assumed was an orchestral theme only. I was falling out of insane fandom at that time as I sort of lost interest with Hot Space and The Works, and pre-internet, not a ton about Brian's solo efforts. appreciate the knowledge!

This set sounds promising (based on the initial post). The re-releases seem to become better with every release. He is now even talking about outtakes whereas in the BTTL box we had none of that. The AW set already had some new stuff so I definitely see a positive trend.

You're very welcome!! :-) BONUS FACT: Paul Bliss' work was done latterly for English language countries. The original Japanese production had different music.

Star Fleet ending credits song (by Paul Bliss and covered by Brian):
The theme song for the original Japanese show was by the Japanese band Bow Wow, and when they moved to England and changed their name to Vow Wow, none other than Neil Murray joined the band. He recorded and toured with them for a couple of years before joining Black Sabbath and later the Brian May Band.

Thanks for posting that, deathtoming, and for the prior bit of info, mikusguitatius, I honestly had no idea that the music and lyrics were written by Paul Bliss. I had the vinyl at one time but obviously didn't look at the credits very well

He promises: "It won’t be just a remaster- we’re remixing everything from highest definition transfers from the original multitracks . You’ll still be able to hear the old mixes, but I’m excited about what we’re cooking up now. All the original material - every detail rescued - magnificently remixed - and much more !!! And lots of moments of EVH in his prime that nobody ever heard before. Wish I could unleash it all now - but such is the state of record production now it will take until meet Summer to turn it around. It WILL Be worth the wait - I promise !!!" This is the first I've heard of the original mix being included alongside the new remix. I was a bit worried it'd be the new mix only. Glad it sounds as though the original versions are gonna be included as well. Of course as with anything Brian says I'll take the contents list with a pinch of salt until it's actually announced for release!

I think, with this one, he'll be including anything and everything, given that the entire original mini-album was less than 30 minutes long. It will take quite an effort to make a credible box set out of that.

But to be fair the last two sets still only had two CDs of stuff, and the Back to the Light bonus disc was hardly full to the brim.

Three tracks, on the other hand, could be a bit of a stretch.

I can only kinda sorta make heads and tails out of what’s in that link, but what I can understand looks very interesting. I might actually buy this set!

“Japan Special” on that second disc sounds ominous, I hope I’m not going to have to import this to get everything!
EDIT: Yeah, the website seems to imply the second sessions disc is exclusive to Japan… Also I’m not seeing any sign of the original mix in there anywhere?

I'm still trying to work out if there's any exclusive content on the Japanese only version. The listing seems to be implying that they will be getting an exclusive 2CD edition, but I can't honestly see him giving the Japan version that much bonus content, and all of those outtakes won't fit on a single CD for the worldwide market, unless the tracks are just snippets, which would be quite annoying.

Or are they just saying that the SACD is Jap only? I guess we'll find out when the announcement for the worldwide release appears.

There was obviously an issue with the previous link. Maybe it was posted too early? I think we should just hold on until the official announcement, hopefully in the next few days.

edit: Oops, a translation was posted while I was typing this out distractedly! So this information is redundant but I'll just keep it up in case it's clearer for whatever reason.
I took a look at the original Japanese-language website and can clarify a few things about the Star Fleet release:
- the posting date of the announcement is June 1st; it's early morning on May 31st in Japan as I type this, so I think that's the only reason they removed the announcement
- the SHM-CD format (note that this is not a SHM-SACD) is exclusive to Japan, but that is nothing special as that's basically the default CD format that Universal Music Japan uses for their Japanese releases. You can't get new Japanese Queen releases that are not in SHM-CD format.
- the 1-CD version ("Star Fleet Project + Beyond") with 9 tracks is for worldwide release on July 14th
- the 2-CD version (as above, plus the 23-track "Star Fleet - The Complete Sessions") is exclusive to Japan
- digital single release of the "edited single version" of Star Fleet will be released on June 1st
- the box set (2 CDs as above, plus red LP and 7" black vinyl) is available worldwide; there is no domestic Japanese version of this set, so Japanese customers will have to get imports
- bonus items: B4 poster (most online and physical shops in Japan), A4 file folder (Tower Records exclusive), "visual sheet" (Amazon Japan exclusive)

So basically going by that, the only thing exclusive to Japan is the SHM-CD formated CDs and the posters?

I can't see Japan getting this Session CD exclusively, surely the whole point of this release for the rest of us would be said disc. It just means the rest of the world has to purchase the box set to get that second disc if they want to purchase domestically. That said, my local Amazon has been selling Japanese editions of the recent Brian solo and Roger solo releases, shipped and sold locally from Amazon. It may be worth checking out that route, depending on where you live.

And if that's the case, they'll likely only have CD 1 on Spotify, not CD 2, but we'll see. By the way, I just want to say I posted my "clarification" list before I saw the translation you put up.

Yet again we have to buy stuff we don't want (vinyl) to get stuff that we do, thus inflating the cost. Why can't this be like the other two releases, with a 2CD version or a box set? I'm wondering if it would actually be cheaper to buy the Jap 2CD set, than a box set full of useless (to me) tat.
