If you are familiar with Brian May's sound creation, please lend me your help.
The album version and the 7" single version of Hammer To Fall, I believe he plays the guitar solo by switching the phase of the pickups on each version.
The single version has a thicker sound and multiple recordings, which I believe is the phase-in sound of the rear and middle pickups combined.
In contrast, the album version, this one moves to the Bm chord after the chorus. There, he plays a long solo that was omitted in the single version, and I can guess that the first half is a phase-out sound combining the middle and front pickups, which Brian often uses in his solos on other songs. I think this is because you can hear the rather thin, screeching high notes that are characteristic of this setup.
However, it returns to the original key at around 2:33, and I cannot determine what kind of switching is used to play the solo from this point on. Personally, I think he is playing with middle + front pickup and phase-out sound, as in the first half, but it is also a full sound, so it sounds like a phase-in sound combined with the rear.
Which do you think it is? I would be happy to listen and compare and let you know what you think.
I am using a translator, so please tolerate some strange expressions.
