It was never officially announced to begin with, but it's certain to exist as it's been mentioned by official sources. However, they have a finished box set that they seemingly do not care about as much as they should.
Perhaps if we were to nag on social media, we might get some replies and/or make the wheels turn but that's a stretch.

If it exists, and as has been rumoured, is finished and ready for release, then why wouldn't they release it? They must have invested time, effort and some money in completing it, so you would have thought that QPL would have wanted to regain some of that investment.
Personally, I don't think it was ever anything more than rumour and speculation. They may have had plans for it, and those plans may have formulated into a theoretical product, but I don't believe it went any further than that.

I am not entirely sure, but I think JSS did mention that there was work being done on anthology box sets divided in early years, middle years and last years. This was back in 2001-2002, not too long after the FM collection had released. I suppose they would have contacted him to obtain a number of recordings that were only in his possession for that effect.
Of course, you can see that their greatest effort to release archival studio recordings since then and until now was the 2011 40th anniversary editions. So far, it doesn't look like we'll get anything nearly that relevant this year.

A few of us came up with a date for the release, all from different sources, which was strange. I hope we do see it at some point, but it's Queen...

Well, if there's bugger all "Queen" coming out for 2021, their 50th anniversary, other than the re-re-re-re-release (ad infinitum) of Greatest Hits, I guess The Beatles can have my £110 then for their 6 disc "Let It Be" boxset, with 100 page book rammed with info and interviews (not just a smattering of poxy photos), original album mix, remixed stereo, surround sound Bluray mix and 3 CDs of recording sessions.
Queen ain't NEVER going to top a Beatles release (unless it's on "LESS value for money").
