I just wish they'd get on and commit to a series of proper special editions of all the albums, rather than them coming in dribs and drabs. I was hoping for DVD-As of them all, but we only got ANATO and The Game. Criminally, QII and ADATR have never had any 'special' editions. I'd be happy for Jazz to have a complete remix, to fix the terrible drum sound, and they must have plenty of live material they could add to the early albums, or even just outtakes, to make substantial editions actually worth purchasing. And don't make us buy bloody vinyl in a box set when we can't play it and don't want it! I remember vividly back in the day Brian saying on his Soapbox that ADATR would be next as a DVD-Audio 5.1 remix. Oh well.....! And wouldn't it have been wonderful? All those twiddly little bits of guitar flying around in Millionaire Waltz!

thanks to khizzy for the quote. for me, this is the key part of it: "there were also some excursions into songs that NOBODY out there ever heard at the time"in reality, almost every Queen fan will have (by now) heard the vast majority ( if not all) of it

Very close to what Brian's Another world extras. Plus Face it alone, for me, only this song is a good reason to buy it.

“….they were able to create a complete set of alternative mixes—things that might have been!”
This doesn’t please me - this seems to be Brian saying that they have created ‘fake’ versions, amalgams of different takes, different working versions at different stages, perhaps even different songs altogether having bits dropped in. I suppose they have done it before on various tracks (NOTW box set) but I’m just not a fan of doing it that way and prefer ‘genuine’ versions as they were recorded at the time.

To be honest, I think we're lucky to be getting anything 'different', and I'll be happy with a disc of alternate mixes, however they create them. They could have just given us the one 'new' track, and bundled in all the singles and b sides. Hopefully the alternate versions will have real drums on them. 🙂

Brooks as compilation of different vocal takes from Freddie.

What I see here, is that without any official information about the content etc, there is some kind of disappointment...
I think is better to wait and see. I am happy with Face it alone. So everything else is a plus!
The only thing that concerns me is the price.

With a tentative September release date, it's just about 8 weeks away!
We will get details any day now.

Well QPL has released so many crap in the past that it´s fair to think like that...isn´t it?

I'd rather have a comp of interesting takes cobbled together, than a single CD of 74 minutes of Scandal flubs and outtakes. I have fond memories of snoring through the Beatles Anthology in the mid nineties listening to Paul bitch about a missing plectrum. No thank you. I realize I'm probably in the minority on this.

I personally think it's refreshing that Brian loved the new Beatles documentary, and now sees value in the before song banter/alternate takes.

Personally don't understand the enthusiasm for this. Whilst understanding that everyone's tastes are different, The Miracle features more bad songs than any Queen album. No one in their right mind would call it a classic Queen album, and it broke zero ground. Can't figure out QPL rationale and putting time into stuff like this while letting their musical highlights (first 6 or 7 albums) die on the vine. Surely there is more demand for SHA or ADATR box sets than this drivel?

Would love for the raw footage of “One Vision” to be given the Peter Jackson treatment. Even if it only lasts 60 minutes. But in the meantime I’ll be happy to hear all the banter they’ll give us.

But once they've decided that this IS what they will release, then the discussion becomes content and release date.

It certainly isn't one of my favourite albums, and I'd much rather have had a special version of one of the earlier ones, as you mentioned. But it is what it is and who knows, this may pave the way for another box set of one of the older albums further down the line. I just hope it's not too much further down the line, given that it's been five years between the NOTW box set, and this one, assuming it will be released this year.

For me this album is "better", when I listen it along with Innuendo and Made in heaven, there is a good music flow. I believe they decided to released it since, the unreleased material is well known, there are many b/sides, remixes & videos. Some b/sides & unreleased songs are better than album tracks. A missed opportunity at the time or they kept them for next album. My guess for next boxsets is Live Killers, The Game and finally Opera. I wish for all the albums to be released.

REALLY hoping for the promos (which were all shot on film rather than SD video) to be rescanned/restored in at least 1080 and popped onto a Blu-ray. AND a nice 5.1 remix while they're at it. Obviously the singles already have a 5.1 mix. I think the title track will be especially beautiful looking if rescanned from the master print.

Keep in mind that for the first albums the band spared the tape to the limit and the amount of outtakes compared to sessions from later albums is minimal. A thousand times more would I prefer something suitable for release as a potential single than instrumental takes of Killer Queen. The new track alone should arouse enough enthusiasm in the community. + as NOTW already got the box set treatment, them releasing sth to please the fans of the later stuff seems like a pretty reasonable move.

I'd love some of the other earlier albums to receive some special treatment, but please, not ANATO again. Brilliant as it is, I've already got about eight different versions of it, so unless there really is a nine minute outtake of Bohemian Rhapsody, I'd rather have special editions of QII and ADATR, thanks. 🙂

Would be a great move if TMLWKY would be included on the Album in the Box Set.

My friend at Amazon Music Spain saw the tracklist for the rarities disc and we finally get to hear Freddie's unfinished tribute to his father "Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deads".

Any more info on other tracks? Did he actually mean a full rarities disc? Is that independent from the raw sessions disc? Any word on a release date?

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude but this sounds like a "my uncle that works for Nintendo said..." story. Did he at least managed to take a photo or write down the tracklist?

That’s a new one on me, sounds like a wind up. The title/phrase was quoted in the Bohemian Rhapsody film, and that’s the only reference to Freddie or the band I’m aware of.
