Hello there, I'm Flem, just turned 50, fuck! Absolutely fucking love Queen. Bought a turntable to play my albums, first time since CDs took over in the early nineties. What does anyone think of Queen vinyl albums? I didn't get to see Queen with Freddie live, a bit too young, but I did see them with Adam Lambert in Glasgow, fucking brilliant. I'm loving just how popular Queen are just now, my kids and others are loving Freddie and Queen. Have they ever been as popular? Anyway, I've got my live killers album playing, my glass of wine, so I'm in there. Cheers everybody.

I grew up in the era of CDs and especially mp3s, but I have collected all of the studio albums on vinyl. I bought them mostly for the historical value and artwork (for example, I've got an early DJ copy of the debut album). CD packaging and little album pics on an iPod don't do albums like News of the World and Innuendo justice. They just don't. So I like to frame them in my office. Occasionally, I'll put one on my record player. And I agree. I think that, at least in the states, the band has never been more popular. I wish Freddie could have been around to see the resurgence. Anywho...welcome to the forum!! =)

The initial wave of CDs i bought - between 86 and late 90s were excellent - the clarity of playback being superior to vinyl in all ways but one almost "intangible": Warmth. Analogue recordings have a warmth that is removed by digital reproduction. Move on to the new millennium and the "loudness wars" have taken hold. many remastered/remixed CDs in recent times are an unpleasant listening experience - and Queen's reissues are no exception. I have 320kbps mp3s i made from 1990s CDs that "sound better" than their modern "loud" CD counterparts.

Oh, and something to play them on, of course. I just know that if I started, it would soon become an obsession, like it did with CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, and probably whatever the next format will be, although, I can't say I'm all that keen on digital downloads. I used to love the artwork on vinyl, the double gatefold sleeve, the fold-out poster, the joy of getting a printed inner sleeve rather than a plain one, and the ability to read the lyrics without a magnifying glass. Those were the days!

I grew up on 8-tracks (since late 75), transitioned to LPs in mid-81, then transitioned to cassettes in mid-85 when I bought my first car, and finally transitioned to CDs in late 86 when I started my first full time job after college.

Hey everyone! I was a highly inactive user on the old Queen Zone forums. That place terrified me due to the rampant negativity. Hoping things will be more pleasant here haha. Became a fan in 2018, so bit of a newbie but I have all the concert DVDs, I've been working through collecting the vinyls, and have a small but quality collection of bootleg videos and audios. My favorite Queen album, not counting live albums, is "Queen (1973)", couldn't explain why, it's just the one I can listen all the way through and love all the songs, the album is somewhat unpolished but incredibly unqiue. I got into Queen due to Freddie's voice itself. I sing (musical theatre primarily but I try to branch out) so I'm always studying singers with unique voices, or voices that changed a lot thru the years. Obviously Freddie is ripe for studying. My favorite era of his vocals is the 1979-1982 period, although I love the solid Magic Tour shows a lot, the deeper voice really appeals to me. I recently finished a project, a Queen tribute collection of covers I've done over the last 2 years. It wouldn't have taken as long if it weren't for my voice being pretty touch and go, and also I developed an early vocal nodule back in January which put my singing on hold for a long time. By August it was fully healed and I was able to take more vocal risks again and finish the album. I was always terrified of sharing covers on QZ, but I'll take a chance and share the album here and hopefully some of you guys will find something you enjoy? My voice changes from track to track due to batches of them being recorded at such different times, the ones I imagine most of you all would enjoy come from May 2019 (anything where my voice sounds raspy and edgier, so "One Vision", "I Want It All", "WATC", the ballad/rock sections of BoRap...) anyway here goes: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wUlEAFNykMbradylove.bandcamp.com/album/champions-a-tribute-to-queenWould love some constructive criticism and feedback if you choose to listen, thanks to those of you who do! Looking forward to seeing how things are here! ~Brady

bradyrands, I love it! Great deal of time must have been put into this, because you really aim *and succeed* to make your way of singing suitable for the song. On with the show!

Thanks to those who welcomed me and checked out my Queen tribute, shared it across several platforms and this is the first place anyone's bothered to comment on it in any fashion, including my personal friends who don't listen to much of my stuff anyway, so it meant a lot to me. Thanks!

Hello Everyone,
I am another newbie, fresh from Queen Zone! I am more of a reader of other people's posts, than someone who posts a lot myself. So many people here with an impressive Queen knowledge base. Look forward to learning a lot...and maybe sharing a little along the way. Thank you!

Hello , Iβm another newbie from QZ. I have been a lurker on and off since June and have found some great features here . Loving having access to the Fan Club magazines. Thanks for thatπ
I donβt have any where near the knowledge many here have but I like reading your posts and finding out new facts .
I have never seen Queen sadly but I grew up listening to them through my older sister . She was lucky to see them when they played Wembley 86.

Although I am sad to see QZ shut down, I am thankful the administrators of this forum created a place where fans can still gather to discuss Queen. Thank you for giving up your time to make sure this a safe place away from trolls and bots.
Kudos to all involved.

I'm not sure we would want to copy over an entire multi-page thread with multiple contributors, but there might be a way to archive it in the same way that John S Stuart's posts were archived.
