Still probably in my top 5 of Queen albums, even though now I know that a lot of it was not really "the last recordings of FM" but just scraps of tape from 1980-1991. Same. Sometimes pulling back the curtain and explaining away the mystique can hurt something, but in the case of Made In Heaven it only enhances the understanding and experience of it.

Greatest Hits (NZ vinyl).
First heard it on cassette at some guy's 13th birthday party, and was hooked on "WWRY".
This was likely 1986 - I could have brought AKOM as it was out at the same time (and in hindsight if I had ended up with the orange one it would have been a more prudent buy).
(Fun fact - same guy was stabbed to death last year on a meth-fueled rampage).

NZ seems to have a meth addiction far worse then most other places I've lived and travelled in bar Scotland.

For many years, I felt that I was late to the party because my first Queen purchase was the Jazz album when it was released in 1978 (considering those fans that were able to join the band on the outset of their album journey back in 1973). Reading this thread certainly makes me feel old! I had first been hooked on Queen when Seven Seas Of Rhye was in the charts. I distinctly remember helping my Dad wash his car and it came on the radio. Even at the tender age of 7, I remember thinking "who on earth is that?!?!". It just sounded so different to anything else and the quality of the production also grabbed me, as did the outro. These were the days when we used to hook up a tape recorder to the radio and record the charts on Sunday evenings. As such, I did have all of Queen's singles on tape for many years but it wasn't until the Jazz album that I actually purchased one of their releases. Queen II and SHA came shortly after and I never looked back, eventually amassing a huge collection that I sold in the early 90's. I was lucky enough to see the band 5 times with Freddie but I always perceived the likes of 'The Royal Family' as the real, super fans who had already seen the band on many occasions in the 70's. Gutted that I missed out on the '79 tour! I was 15 when I saw Queen for the first time (Leeds '82). Anyway, I digress....

Ahh, we can't be lamenting the things we missed in hindsight for any number of possible reasons - let alone simply not being old enough ! The fact that you experienced as much as you did in their prime is pretty incredible. By contrast, I was minus one years old when they last toured Canada.

Pretty sure it was QUEEN GH (HOLLYWOOD) the one without FLASH, UNDER PRESSURE and BORHAP
I believe they were switched out for a longer edit of something and then Body Language, I Want To Break Free for some damn reason.
Boy did it get a ton of mileage on my discman. I was amazed by the savory soundscapes and listened intently over and over. I exchanged with odd friends for stuff and it eventually got pretty scraped and dropped around. Doesn't skip last I checked but it's beat up.
At the time I had no idea what BoRhap was called. It was just "that song" or that song they sometimes play on the radio. It was an Era without such proliferation of easily accessible information unless you had a fast pc and some guidance.
Next Queen Disc I got was ROCKS I as it had just been released. The voices confused me. Especially Brian on a few songs. It was all a learning experience
Good times. I can recall so much vividly from hs
