My beloved Queenlive.ca site has reached a milestone - today it received its millionth visitor, which was none other than our good friend Chinwonder2. I launched the site in 2007, but it really goes back about five years before that, which is half a lifetime ago - it started as a college project, as I was studying to be a software engineer and web designer (which is clearly not the life path I took!). My coding skills weren't particularly great, but with html and javascript I managed to cobble this thing together with the help of a friend - Andrew who ran the (sadly long defunct) " Ghost of a Smile" site. I coded most of it by hand, and was happy with the results. Upon the initial launch, I recall I only had it done up to 1977 or so, but the rest of the years were soon populated. I've received emails from thousands of people over the years from all over the world, some saying they have photos or even tapes of Queen shows, and others simply offering a kind word because they enjoyed this little time machine I'd put together. Most recently I received an inquiry from a major symphony orchestra wanting to use a ticket stub as part of their promotion for a concert. It's really been a wonderful thing, and it's rippled out there probably even in ways I won't ever fully know. A million views may not sound like a lot in this day and age where a cat video can achieve that in under 12 hours on YouTube, but the concert history of even a major band like this is a pretty niche thing, so it's a proud papa moment for me here today. But the design is dated - frames are very passe. I'm working with a friend on a re-design, and I aim to launch a newly revamped version of the site in 2025 (along with literally 10,000+ unseen photos that are on my hard drive, with much help on that front from beyondthemoon). Thanks to everyone who's been a part of making this thing what it is. Here's to v2.0 and the next million !

Congratulations!
You are one of the few that survived the 00s. I remember so many geocities sites and fanpages when I was a kid and queen was QUEEN-FIP. HAHAHA
insane to think of it now

Just amazing 🙌 The Queen community as a whole would be a lot different without your site. Immense thank you for keeping this going for as long as you have, and huge congrats on the milestone! Can't wait to see what kind of upgrades are being planned 🙏

Congrats on the milestone, you've earned it! What a great resource queenlive is, I must've been responsible for at least a thousand of those million hits over the years! Thanks for all the effort.

It is a very iconic website for me. I am still using it. It's a really beautifully thought-out arrangement. He is well versed in it. It's incredible that the number of visitors is already one million

Massive congratulations Bob. I've spent hours on your site over the years and you may well remember that you kindly made an offline copy for my brother who by that time had gone into a care home with no (at the time) internet access. The offline option was utterly invaluable to us both. Some man...........and congratulations and thanks again for all of your contributions to the Queen community.

What more can be said except congratulations on this massive and momentous achievement, and thank you for this invaluable contribution to the Queen world! I can only imagine you getting a copy of the "Queen Live" book back in 1995 and thinking, "I can do better than this!" Every band should be so lucky to have such a thorough, detailed, and honest examination of their live career. (Now if only we could get someone to do the same for their studio sessions...)
Bearing in mind how much time, attention, and devotion it's taken you to do all this – have you thought about digging into the solo and/or Queen+ tours? (Considering your busy dance card, I'll preemptively guess that the answer is an emphatic and well-deserved "no"!)

Love your site, Bob. I've spent countless hours reading, browsing thru the years and imagining everything, listening to the audio around the shows, looking at the pictures. Amazing site.

(Considering your busy dance card, I'll preemptively guess that the answer is an emphatic and well-deserved "no"!) Then it does indeed give me great pleasure to offer, as wholly and unambiguously anticipated: NO It's taken me years to finally get to the point of even getting my library of Queen photos partially organized, never mind solo and later tour artifacts. I haven't listened to or documented most of those periods with an even remotely similar level of zeal. Martin has that stuff more than decently covered at queenconcerts.com anyway ! But if a torrent of knowledge about their studio sessions came to be, I'd be first in line to put that resource together, a la beatlesbible. In fact, I've been gathering notes for such a project anyway, maybe to be launched as a YouTube channel (years ago I even recorded a theme song for it, in case it ever transpires). Your "last song standing" threads have me feeling extra inspired in that direction lately. We shall see how this all lands.

Congratulations on the milestone !
Your site belongs to the list of my 12 favourite sites. I've been visiting it almost everyday, often multiple times a day, for almost 10 years now. I guess, statistically speaking, I contributed to at least 3000 visits.
Not sure if any other band has a website devoted to a band's concert history, but even if there's such a thing, queenlive.ca is certainly the most comprehensive of them all.
It won't be loo long before the next million.

Well done, Bob. Good that you're always looking forward....at the backward-facing stuff! Yeah, it's a fun juxtaposition, innit ? That's the joy of studying any form of history - there's always some kind of discovery around the corner, and the old becomes new again.

I’m so glad your site is still up and running while so many others have simply disappeared. It’s the first place I go when a Queen-related live question pops into my head. And I still check it for updates, hoping beyond hope that a live recording of the one Queen show I saw (DC in 82) will suddenly appear. But after over 40 years of nothingness I’ve just about given up hope on that tape ever surfacing.
Thanks for all the time and effort you’ve put into it!

Congratulations Bob! Through all my visits to the site I met you before we even met on QZ! It is still “the” go-to site for anything Queen live related. Thanks for all you do for the global Queen community. As you can see from the replies it is much appreciated by so many.
Look forward to the next iteration and thank you again for your labor of love.

You are one of the few that survived the 00s. My god, I'd never even thought of it that way. It also makes me feel creaking ancient !! You didn't just survived the 2000s, you outlasted Queenzone! I remembered bumping into your library of a website as early as 2008, when your Live Killers analysis was listed on the external links on the album's Wikipedia page. For a kid who's only knowledge of Queen live was from Wembley '86 back then, it was an eye-opener seeing how much shows Queen had done. Congrats on 17 years & 1 million visitors, Bob!!! To another 17 years and a million visitors more!
