Here are the credits for a new product Half of the names are familiar or not so familiar, the rest are new. Interesting! Front cover digitally RECREATED by Brian May. There was no original material / collage / photo edit to work with in the first place ?

Amazon Canada has the 2CD version already for Pre-order. But... USD 51.99 for the 2CD version? Are they nuts or what? It's not even an import. They will ship directly from the Canadian warehouses. I don't get it. I hope that Amazon USA offers it (and the box) at reasonable prices. I am definitely not paying USD 51.99 for a 2CD set!
52$ ? Definitely, they´re laughing at you

I like the instrumentals but... not the vocal. And I realy hate "pitch corrected" versions of "Goin back" and "ICHM" Pith correction on stereo master 24 years ago... LOL Yup, that's definitely taking the pith. 😄

QUEEN... they've long abandoned the NO SYNTHESIZERS label 😉 It's odd but that's just the way it is. No alternate photo Negatives maybe.

I believe it originates in Italy, so will be "in noochay" Yes it is! I'm italian! "In nuce" means "still in its initial state", embryonic, in embryo, in germ... So queen in their pre-queen era!

Interesting to see names that I thought were no longer associated with Queen such as Simon Lupton and Nick Weymouth. Is there a film coming out about "Queen" on the Beeb down the road maybe?

It's a recreation of the original album cover, which was an edit of a Marquee photo. Brian recreated the edit. You can tell it's based off of the live image, because Freddie's stage outfit is more accurate on the "Queen I" 2024 version compared to the 1973 original. There's also more of Freddie's hair behind his shoulder. I detest AI as much as the rest of you, but please let's not immediately jump to AI conclusions with no backing.

Recreated digitally just means they've used Photoshop software rather than a... Photo lab / artist, scissors and so on. It doesn't mean AI is used.

I was mainly addressing the Roger photo on the back which highlights more of his face My theory (based on nothing) is a bunch of them were taken with Brian's stereoscopic camera, so there exists two almost identical photos from slightly different angles, and the alternative ones were used as the originals are damaged / lost. I mean we already know at least one on the back was... I mean we have seen the result of queen productions messing with AI and it wasn't great.

It could mean that the the original photos were rescanned (or even that the original negatives were scanned), and then the collage was recreated digitally.

Um, your theory is based on the assumption that having taken stereo pairs of images, those pairs were then NOT stored together...by someone so meticulous that he still has all his 1950s 7" inch singles in their original sleeves....

Well, The other one was used in the original collage, which is lost. It's the reason he doesn't have a copy of the doll of Roger drumming and had to use a Japanese print in the soapbox post, both of those were in the collage.

I thought Brian was the main artist of the original Queen (1) cover. I'm sure I read somewhere years ago (possibly on his soapbox?) him explaining how he (they?) used a photo of Freddie and did this and that to it to get the effect that we see as the original cover. **EDIT: Found it, I think. brianmay.com/brians-soapbox/2009/10/more-on-the-back-cover-of-queen-i/

Piracy would be if it was for sale somewhere. There was never a smile cd release. Unreleased then imho. But it has stuff on it that has been released, so it's still technically a copyrights breach. Ghost of a Smile is 100% official.

Thank goodness Brian now realizes that a ton of people care. This is no doubt why their archival releases have generally gotten better over the years.

I think it would have been better to offer a CD Box set & the option to have a box set with the vinyl included if that's what you wanted . I much prefer CD'S easier to store , last longer if looked after & in my opinion sound better when played through a decent system. I have got around 10,000 CD's can you imagine storing 10,000 L.PS ? Vinyl has never been perfect with pops and crackles here and there or even skipping. I like many of you don't even own a record player so we are paying extra money to look at a vinyl copy. A choice would have been nice. Instead of that we have a box set around £180 in a time when some people are struggling to make ends meet.

Have to say I much prefer the 50 year old cover to the new one. I made this edit of the Queen I album cover to bring it a little closer to the original. Deeper blacks, stronger purple and brought back the original pink text (Personally, I think the gold text kind of clashes.) It'll be the album art for my pitch correction removal album. I figured, since I'm tweaking the remix to bring back elements from the original audio, why not do the same with the album cover?

If I was good enough to do that, I'd lose the "I" and not have a fake foil effect on the text.
