If you're on a forum dedicated to a band, chances are you're in the top 0.001% of fandom for that band. And if you openly declare that you aren't going to buy a niche product that has been specifically catered for people like you, before it even exists, for non-economic reasons - in this case a box set where 5 of 6 discs have new material from ~50 years ago - then people have every right (ahem, free speech) to opine that something isn't quite lining up. Why do people keep acting like anyone who has a perceived problem with this box is somehow wrong? That's another straw man. There's been plenty of valid criticism of what's been seen and heard so far, including from me.

If you allow me, I will answer. The problem is that people are satiated with absolutely everything. Youtube, mp3 music and all these things are "poisoned gifts". When you have music at the click of a button, it loses all its value, it lacks all the magic that existed in the past, when you had to go to a record store to try to find AND PAY for that record or that VHS that few people had. Not now, now music is free. When something is free, it depreciates. There are many who write here who are not going to buy the Queen I box set, even so, they are going to rate it with a negative rating. The problem is not the music, but the listener, who has a full belly. I definitely think since music became digitised, some of the magic is gone. I was only thinking today how long it was since I had the excitement of buying a new record, and playing it to death until I'd learned all the lyrics, knew all the drum fills, all the nuances that we now notice as minute differences with each re-release. Nowadays, I pre-order a CD, forget about it until it arrives, then rip it to my phone. I usually play the album once through, then, unless it's something exceptional, it goes onto my ever expanding shuffle playlist, so I end up hearing probably one track a week. Technology has made music much more accessible, but the enjoyment of the physical product has largely gone. Not just the physical product, but also the music itself. There is such an incredible amount of music available now (plenty of it good), which leads to a diminishment of the sanctity of the album. After you listen to one great album, another will be released next week and you'll forget about the first one. Huxley was right - we just have too much now.

You´re absolutely wrong. I´m an ex-collector who would love to see (then) (as was said in FM Box) Anthologies, unreleased shows (Earls Court, Hammy 79, Houston) instead of remakes of songs with other artists, re-re-releases of GHs, etc etc like they did in those days. It´s not a matter of releasing something that meet my expectations...Or at least not now...Now anything they release, good or not, i´ll download and that´s it. QP had its time to release intesting thing in the past, but they didn´t...I got tired and decided not to buy anything else. As other collectors decided as I can see...
Queen has already officially released the Rainbow concerts (March and November 1974), Hammersmith Odeon (1975), Live Killers (1979), Montreal (1981), Milton Keynes (1982), Japan (1982), Japan (1985), Rio (1985), Live Aid (1985), Budapest (1986), Wembley (both nights), Live magic..... and some that I have left in the pipeline. But you need Houston and Hammersmith Odeon (1979). And when those two concerts are released, what will be the next thing to complain about? Despite everything that has been released, if you feel that there are two concerts left to be released, you are tired. The Houston and Hammersmith Odeon concerts (1979) are available on YouTube. When Queen puts them on sale they won't satisfy you because you've already seen them. 2 years ago Queen released 6 unreleased songs in the "The miracle" box set. If you treat the 6 unreleased songs like disposable Kleenex, it happens that a month after they are released and you have downloaded them from any application, it happens that you need more. There is nothing in the Queen archives that can satisfy you, because things have to be valued properly. Harsh, but mostly fair (about 2/3 of the pro shot Hammersmith 79 has gotten out so far). In the last decade alone, here's what's been released: Live at the Rainbow Let Me in Your Heart Again A Night at the Odeon On Air News of the World box set The Miracle box set Queen I box set Hours of new music from the archive. Much of this was the stuff of legend decades ago. Of course officially released products are going to have their flaws - hell, Pink Floyd fans complained about the 27-disc Early Years box set. But when someone's predominant reaction to these releases is the negativity, it's just so disappointing to see. Some people can't see the forest through the trees, and live to complain.

Wait, I just noticed. BBC Session 2 from July 1973 (before the album release) is not completely included, presumably because SWAFIB is considered a Queen 2 track.... Meanwhile, from the "Queen I Sessions" disc, we have something called SWAFIB.... Sorry, but I didn't understand a thing. Sounds like the title of the final AEROSMITH song to be released 12 years from now as the drug damage kicks in

At the time Queen released Rainbow, Hammy 75, Wembley both nights, etc I already decided that Queen won´t get my money....So I don´t give a shit about collecting Queen at the moment. The 1997-2006 period was rubbish....Just a few DVDs and the FM Box, the real good item of that era. I already had Rio, Wembley, Budapest, Live Killers....
In 2 years Queen released 6 songs... OK...In the last 2 years, for example, Elton John company (I´ve collected Elton even longer than Queen) has released, Deluxe editions of two albums (Honky Chateau, Madman Across The Water, RSD 2023 & 2024 like Don´t Shoot Me or Caribou (with some new stuff) and other things. Also his company released several coloured Lps for die hard fans
And if we come back to 2020, we´ll se how EJ fan have got more than 70 unreleased studio songs (from 60s) -Jewel Box, interesting live concerts in his Youtube Channel and other stuff which has been new among collectors.
What does this mean? Well, it´s easy. His company DOES know how to keep the "collectors-flame" on. I haven´t bought EVERYTHING, because there were things that I consider useless....But I´ve paid for 90% of released audio/video items.
I wish Queen would have done the same, then....

Anyway...You can try to put dozens or reasons to convince me....Don´t do it. My decission won´t change. Don´t loose your time

I disagree. In my opinion just because an official Queen release is imperfect, does not entitle you to download it for free. "Is your conscience all right? Does it plague you at night?"
It´s ok if this is not fair for you. But in the end, you´ll know that this thing won´t affect me. Both you and me can live perfectly well knowing that I´m still downloading Queen things. As many others here, the problem is that I´m not hiding it...Others I´m sure that won´t rise their voice

(And yes, I´m fortunate to sleep absolutely well, even downloading things...)

70 unreleased Elton John songs? Are you sure? Completely unreleased? I am not an expert on Elton John's career but I would like to know if these are tracks not heard before or songs never heard before (an unreleased track is not the same that an unreleased song). However, I don't understand why you compare Queen to Elton John. Queen DOES NOT HAVE 70 completely unreleased songs in their archives. If you believe that, you are wrong. That's why I told you before that you're waiting for a collection of Queen songs that have never been recorded. Finally, I'm not trying to convince you of anything. Do what you want. Download Queen's new album illegally and for free, if you want.

As I told you before, Queen does not have 70 unreleased songs in their archives. I wonder if they have 7 songs. However, after 1991, Queen has released between 20 and 30 unreleased songs. I think it is a remarkable figure. If someone thinks that they have much more, it is a wrong assessment.

20-30 unreleased songs?
You Don´t Fool Me Mother Love It´s A Beautiful Day A Winter´s Take Face It Alone Let Me In Your Heart Again There Must Be More to Life Than This Feelings Love Kills (Ok I´m gonna count it...) All Dead, All Dead
Even is not near of 20...
(If you count "alternate takes" well I could agree with you...But they´re not 100% unreleased songs, but takes)

No one but you. Forever (3 songs) The miracle box (6 songs). News of the world box (2 songs: All dead, all dead / Feelings). Queen I Box (1 song: Hagman). 24 songs? I'm sure I've forgotten some. How about we compare the number of unreleased songs released by Queen, not with Elton John, but The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake or Aerosmith? We can also compare the number of concerts released with these bands. I think what you can do is download the Queen I box set from somewhere, and then you can complain about how bad the release is and compare it to Elton John or Bod Dylan, if that's to your liking.

Well If you count MIH as 11 tracks...No discussion here. MIH, IWBTLY, MLHBS, HFE were already released with FM voice. So unreleased.........................
Anyway as I said it...No discussion here if you count MIH as 11 unreleased tracks.
Cheers

I don't really see the value in making comparisons with other artists, other than perhaps with the formats of what is being issued. If they don't have the material, it can't be released. Period. But that doesn’t mean I don't think the box sets could have been improved, with live material (where available), or new 5.1 / Atmos mixes.
To use another example, Rush have released several box sets in recent years, so far, from 2112 through to Signals, and there's not been one single unreleased studio track or demo among them, simply because they don't have them. The box sets also forced the purchase of vinyl and were comparable in price to the Queen releases. They did, however, contain unreleased live material and 5.1 mixes, and some of the Signals 5.1 tracks had a different vocal take, but I believe this might have been out of necessity rather than by design, as they weren't marked as alternate versions.
I just hope that the lack of live material on any of the Queen box sets so far, indicates that they're saving them for a potential live anthology box, which DOESN'T include previously released material, or at least a 'Thin Lizzy / UFO' style Live Killers box, including the full concerts that made up the bits and pieces of the original album.

I don’t understand all these controversies around a product that hasn’t been released yet, that hasn’t been studied in detail, listened to.

But when someone's predominant reaction to these releases is the negativity, it's just so disappointing to see. Some people can't see the forest through the trees, and live to complain. I try to look for positives as well (I recall being really thorough in terms of my opinions on The Miracle), but I can see how "live to complain" can be a view of my behaviour. I don't...but I take the point.

Queen actually wrote a song about us fans
I Want It All............. And I want it now
Must have realised that they could cause some shit 35 years in the future (Freddie's sense of humour)

This is what I suspect is the case, with live Rainbow Queen II songs possibly to be included as well?

I'm 100% sure that my opinion doesn't matter to anyone here, but I’ll share it anyway. The studio albums from 1973 to 1976 really deserve a new mix, even if some people won't like it. Sure, the original has more soul and feels closer well you know what I mean, but we need to keep up with the times. Студийные технологии ушли далеко вперёд. And I'm sure Brian and Roger don't want to get stuck out there in old times.

Ted I seriously doubt that they will prepare a box set by 2025. And I seriously doubt that any box set will be released in the near future. I think in 2025-26 we will see a wave of the most boring reissues under the Sony label. And we will be happy to create topics on the subject of what the f**k

It's interesting how long they worked on the box set only to end up with a share of hate.

I think the sound of SHA, Opera and Races is unbeatable.

I think the sound of SHA, Opera and Races is unbeatable. Wrong! Every album worth a remix to improve the clarity of the mix or the sound of particular instrument (every '73-'80) as the first reason. The second reason is to decrease 80's component from the sound picture of albums from '82 till '91. It is necessary not to replace the original mixes, but to have an alternative for listening expirience. For example, Listen to 'The Hero' from Flash Gordon OST and then 'The Hero' new mix from 2011 bonus EP to understand what I'm talking about for the first reason. Listen to 'Foolin Around' from 1985 Mr Bad Guy and then from 2019 Mr Bad Guy to understand what I'm talking about for the second reason.

They killed Freddie's voice with autotune and so on.

I'm just adding one more comment that we'll see on the day the box is released or, at the latest, the next day: "What's going to go on sale next? Greatest hits IV? Let's hope the next thing improves on "Queen I box", which has been a disaster.".

And if we come back to 2020, we´ll se how EJ fan have got more than 70 unreleased studio songs (from 60s) -Jewel Box, interesting live concerts in his Youtube Channel and other stuff which has been new among collectors. Elton's Jewel box is indeed mighty impressive ! But it still isn't a reason to condemn another band for not doing something similar - do you know for certain that Queen have dozens of unreleased songs in their archive ? Side note: people even complained about this Elton box set. Whatever you do, don't click on this link to see the comments proving that some people will never be satisfied: superdeluxeedition.com/news/elton-john-elton-jewel-box/#comments-161063"...superfluous deep cuts," says one person. Egads, what is wrong with people ? What are you doing on the superdeluxeedition site if you're not interested in unreleased songs by your favourite artists ?

And the question is: Are you satisfied with inclusion of 2011 remaster in previous box sets?
