Sometimes it feels like Queen Productions is actually just a single employee who is forced to do everything including video editing, marketing, accounting, etc. I can't add anything to what's already been said about the music video, but I wasn't impressed. It's time for Brian and Roger to hire some professionals AND hold them to professional standards. For comparison purposes, here are two decade-old animated music videos. Both from indie artists - not one of the wealthiest bands of all time.

Holy hell, this takes me back. This is an incredible music video and a testament to how AI will never replace human intent.

Yeah-- the cover of the Cool Cat single comes to mind as well. Hell, hire a fan who will treat the project with the care it deserves.

Until the music video was released, I had read the introduction to the video and thought that AI would only be used to restore old photos and footage with clarity. (It is possible that I misunderstood because I am not an English speaker.)
Personally, I feel that the music video was terrible when I lifted the lid. I am not angry at the use of AI for this work per se. They have always been open to adopting new methods." No synthesizer" was an iconic phrase for them in their youth, and I am now convinced that their strength lies in their successful embrace of synthesizers. With their intellectually inquisitive minds, I knew it was only a matter of time before they would experiment with AI-based projects.
I know that we are in the infancy of AI technology and that any technology can be refined through trial and error, but when I watched this music video they released, I personally did not see AI as having a positive effect, only a strange one.
As has already been mentioned in this thread, it is not uncommon nowadays for even poor indie bands to release great music videos that get people's attention. Even rock legends Queen used to add even more charm to their own songs with a number of unique music videos." Save Me," which also featured sentimental animation. It is just sad to me that they are now giving the go-ahead for something like this.

Thanks for the info, as I just purchased the mp3 download. I also just purchased the 2017 "News" box set for $112.56 with free shipping. I still feel slightly guilty for purchasing the 2017 "News" box set for basically one useful CD, but the cost is well under $25 per disc for the real box set, so I do not feel like I have been price gouged. www.amazon.com/dp/B0758ZN38H?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title... only 13 left in stock currently.

It looks like the video started off with the idea of animating the words - the first 'world' and the glitter ball turning into the world etc looks as you'd expect. Then with the deadline looming they panicked? Some of it is OK, some of it really isn't. Might have been nice to animate the other members in mock ups of them featuring on the album cover. Although I do always defend these recent promo videos as a tool for people unfamiliar to the teaser songs seeing it in their feeds and watching during their lunch break, this one is misguided. Some nice ideas, but essentially a rushed hodgepodge.
As for the boxset, to add my 10 cent to some of the great observation already posted in the thread, I'm really excited. Of course, new remixes live or die on the tastes of those doing the remixing. In this new TNCD I notice there are elements missing or not as loud as we're used to, but overall, it sounds crisp and more 'Queeny' than the original. The original, incidentally, that I absolutely love. So a guarded thumbs up from me. Not sure about the inclusion of Mad The Swine, but will let it go as this is a ground-up reimagining of the album. Certainly less jarring than suddenly having Too Much Love.. added back onto The Miracle.
Some of those live things are the absolute jewels here though. Remember when we all went crazy when that first 30 second preview of the live Fairy Fellers.. appeared? I'm preparing for the same thing here and I'm just going to go along with it and am looking forward to feeling that same rush again. Me aged 7 sat listening to this album for the first time full of wonder, we meet again.

I find it surprising that the video is made in such an amateur way. It's not just the failures that AI still generates, it's that there is no idea, no concept. The disco ball certainly already existed, but it only became popular in the late 70s, with the rise of disco music. It's a shame, because the song deserved a video made by professionals. Another missed opportunity.

Video generative AI is impressive technically but is not ready for prime time. Certainly not for a band at Queen’s level, who should have the money to pay for something half decent (made with human professionals involved) or the sense to just not bother. Maybe if they partnered with OpenAI or a similar company the result could have been more refined (assuming the AI experts know how to better craft prompts and have access to the very best models).
(Edit: Says me with the AI-generated ‘Freddie as the Mona Lisa’ profile pic…)

If they wanted to they could have hired the guy who made the game "Faith", who is a MASTER at rotoscoping. It comes off as if they're a broke indie band, which they're most definitely not.

As for my two cents into this release, I'm so unbelievably happy with this. Imperial College 1970, an official release of Hangman (despite it being live), and all of the other live goodies make up for the absolute dogshit AI video. If QPL does a boxset for Queen 2, I hope that boxset will be just as good (if not better) than Queen 1.

Does anyone noticed that designers digitally re-compiled the whole backsleeve collage from original photos? I'm not sure they would go to those lengths. to my "photographic" eyes, this appears to be a straight re-edit of the original artwork. This appears to be a 3-step edit: ♦ RGB adjustment levels - reduced R ♦ applied a HDR filter to convert "film" to digital ♦ added contrast

Looks to me like the back cover was done from scratch, and quite a few of the photos benefit massively 👌

I'm away from home until Monday so can't use any tools but this looks like a recomposition. The circle is cleaner, Brian is more centered (look at his shirt at the bottom and the red spacing on the left.

I do think the final montage has been releveled to remove some Red channel Do you think it's possible some of the photos have suffered vinegar syndrome, so they've reduced the red channel across the whole thing? It's not a suprise the standard of this is higher, photography interests Brian, so he's probably more likely to check its a good standard before signing it off.

Does anyone noticed that designers digitally re-compiled the whole backsleeve collage from original photos? 1973 vs 2024If they were able to use the originals, it's good that they weren't completely destroyed when Brian's house was flooded. I posted this pic in the thread about that flood: The image on the left is from the video taken after the flood, and it shows a pic of Roger that was likely used on the collage. Of course, more than one copy can exist, and the one in the video looks like it has been purposely cut up, but I imagine many photos from that era were stored in a similar spot in his house.

The b-side is the instrumental/backing track version of The Night Comes Down. Since 'Face It Alone' only made #90 in the main UK singles charts, I wouldn't expect anything amazing for this one. However, digital charts are a different matter entirely.

Could this be the Imperial college full set list? From the sotherby’s auction. Looking at the clips of the book, it seems that QPL acquired the Freddie manuscripts as some of them are clearly from the auction items. Adding to this, Douglas Puddifoot's photos and contact sheets were in the Sotheby's auction, and then withdrawn. I wonder if these items ended up with Queen Productions? Many of the photos from that session were used on the back collage, and you can even see markings around the photos they decided to use, including the two of Roger's face that I put in my quoted post.
