That's extremely disappointing. For a lot of people, this will be a dealbreaker, as the book in a box set is the right place to publish such things. Are they trying to lose buyers ? It's priced like a deluxe, premium, thorough, even complete product. And yet....

the book sounds like it is another book of photos with very lttle text, so again, nothing like the tome's that come with the Beatles Boxsets. Apparantly everything that was written for the book was removed, but will appear somewhere - most likely online I reckon. Such a shame. I bet xxxx would have loved for his work to be in printed format. I know I would. That's extremely disappointing. For a lot of people, this will be a dealbreaker, as the book in a box set is the right place to publish such things. Are they trying to lose buyers ? It might be for me...

Probably a dumb question, but wouldn’t it be possible to reverse engineer the “autotuned” vocals back to the original pitch by isolating the line itself? Rather than just copy and pasting the original vocal track? Considering that we have an extensive collection of the remixed material coming out, would it be that difficult? Just curious No, not possible. Pitch correction is a destructive process, and leaves artifacts. Plus- it'd be impossible to manually pick out every single multitrack harmony and "untune" them without the project file for the remix.

Actually, the earliest use of pitch correction is on the 5.1 mix of A Night At The Opera, where Brian retuned some of the guitars in BoRhap. First on Freddie's voice was Live At The Bowl in 2004.

You mean on Fat Bottomed Girls ? Wasn't that just an overdub, like on Live Killers (and virtually every live album ever) ?

I ask you, would you buy the box if autotune had not been used? or neither? The price of the box seems expensive to me but it is less than the 200 pounds you say (in my case, it is less than 200 euros).

As with anything, "no" could mean "not yet," as the march of progress continues onward. But there are some things where simply is no undo button, and autotune is one of them. It's kind of like combining ingredients in a recipe for a cake and trying to separate them again. No doubt some reverse engineering could be possible, but it will never be exact. The best and easiest solution is to fly in the vocal from the existing version.

I have indeed tried before, but not with Queen I. There's a tape issue on the multitracks for November Rainbow '74, and QPL didn't fix it. I made this thread about it, but unfortunately the pictures no longer work. To sum it up shortly, due to that tape issue, you can see exactly how much pitch correction was used, and by flattening the line, you can restore Freddie's original pitch. Unfortunately though, the vocal still sounds a bit strange due to the damage that the pitch correction process does. This test was done by Nicky T.

You won't make Brian and Roger poor by not buying a box set. Mp3s of 63 songs from Queen I box set is less than $20. Surely, paying $20 is better than unlawfully downloading official copyrighted work for "free" ...

It's priced like a deluxe, premium, thorough, even complete product. And yet.... They haven’t included the book because they couldn’t find a way to auto tune it! quite the opposite, in fact. if Archivist is in charge of the printed content, you can expect that; for autotune substitute labelling, factual or typing errors the very antithesis of autotune for the written word.

No. Firstly, the illegal downloads will be Flac, not mp3. Secondly, principle. Not supporting substandard products

You haven't bought anything from Queen / solo in 20 years? Well, interesting music has been released since then: Live in Budapest, The Cosmos Rocks, Fun on earth, Rainbow, Hammersmith Odeon, The miracle box, News of the world box, etc. Have you heard all those records?

wow, so much hate for a box set that hasn't been released yet. Those who won't buy it, that's your right, but don't announce it publicly especially that you will be download it from torrent. To buy or not to buy is everyone's personal business.

However people should not provide links, methods, etc of anything that isn't legit.

Yes, I have. Everything.
As other collectors I fed up with some rubbish they released around that era so I stopped buying Queen items. Even I have to say that I sold 95% of everything. I´m still having some items and stuff but nothing interesting in these days

I´ll search a torrent with no problem.
Obviously anyone can have their own opinion about this, but in the end, it´s not their business of what I´m going (or any other person) to do. To buy or not, to download or not this item, won´t harm anyone here

To buy or not to buy is everyone's personal business. I disagree. If people WANT to announce their intentions (either way), that's free speech. The "free speech" card never lands well. Nobody's suggesting anyone shouldn't have free speech, which is defined as government restricting your right to it. That's therefore a straw man argument. If you're on a forum dedicated to a band, chances are you're in the top 0.001% of fandom for that band. And if you openly declare that you aren't going to buy a niche product that has been specifically catered for people like you, before it even exists, for non-economic reasons - in this case a box set where 5 of 6 discs have new material from ~50 years ago - then people have every right (ahem, free speech) to opine that something isn't quite lining up. You yourself declared it to be a "substandard product" - how can you possibly offer that comprehensive review for something you have not yet heard 98% of ?
