yeah, next single will be Modern Times...
and, I saw the video of Night Comes Down this morning... it is a mixture of photos, getting life with IA, and also images of Rainbow backstage and the actual show. Not bad...

10. STOP forcing us to buy vinyl! Does the environment not matter, Brian? Couldn't agree more. This will be the third time I've had to buy vinyl I can't play.

The fact that The Miracle sessions disc was so good has made me excited for this. I hope they do a 2 disc version, I'm not sure I can justify £200+. Ask and ye shall receive: queenonlinestore.com/products/queen-1-deluxe-edition-2cdBut the box isn't that much - it's under $200 Canadian, never mind GBP. For six discs and a 100 page book, I'd say the price is pretty fair.

5. Is San Diego an audience tape? I'd imagine it's a stereo soundboard, not unlike the Sleeping on the Sidewalk from November 1977 on the NOTW box set (it was mentioned in one of Gary Taylor's books as being a board tape).

A second single? Really? That seems odd too.
It's not like either track is going to bother the chart, Radio 1 ain't playing them. Is £14.99 × 2000 generating so much profit that it's a purely commercial decision??

I wonder if any of the other takes of MTRnR will have Freddie on vocals?

Thing is the disc says it's from August 23. The press release even mentions Roger's handwritten invitation saying their "private showing" on an August 23 Sunday Fair enough. But we also haven't seen a photo of the tape or its box. The fact that the press release goes out of its way to state that 8/23/70 was their first London gig is puzzling, to say the least. 1970-08-23 is the first London gig, as previous shows were in Truro and Penzance. The 1970-07-18 date in London is AFAIK not substantiated by any proper evidence from the time: no entry in Roger's diary, no invitation, no setlist, no poster, not even internal paperwork... unlike any other commonly listed dates from the early days that do have several pieces of evidence behind. The educated guess is that the said date is a replicated error stemming from the fact that Queen played at Imperial College on that exact date one year later and also on a nearby date in 1970.

Intriguingly Roger just said on BBC Radio 2 that The Night Comes Down was going to be the third single at the time!

Interesting that they've decided to rename the album Queen I, but this is clearly an indication that a Queen II box set is on the way I hope that’s the case, but it could just be for the sake of clarity.

I haven't commented on this yet but this is an impressive set. I've felt very angered though by certain fans who are moaning at what has been delivered today! There is a lot of new content on here, and the sound of The Night Comes Down is undoubtedly an improvement. I didn't notice the autotune on my first listen, and I don't think I can now. I know the songs so well if I don't notice, I'm sure 99% of fans won't either. These box sets seem to be getting better and really there isn't much more I would've wanted. Really the things that fans want are things that as some have pointed out on here, probably don't exist. - The existing recording of Polar Bear might be the best, the same quality was used in the extract on Rags To Rhapsody documentary a few years ago.
- Hangman probably only exists as a rough run through so a live recording in 1976 (nearing Queen's live super stardom) will probably be superior.
- The fact that something is coming from 1970 is unbelievable especially when I thought we'd never hear anything. The quality may not be good and the band may be under rehearsed, but the fact we're hearing something is special.

I'm especially intrigued by that last one. I've long wondered what it would be like to see them when they were a college band.

Cheapest I've found including shipping is 163 Euros which works out at $240 plus the very real probability of Customs duty on top. Cheapest I've found that included shipping and pre paid customs was 195 Euros. I'm definitely buying this monstrous beast, but I'm trying to find the cheapest way to do it. I don't need it on day 1. Amazon Canada doesn't even have it available yet. I've yet to buy from Queen Online and not had them charge me VAT.

But currently it's $170 US, or $230 CAD. Definitely far less than 200 GBP.

I've been intrigued for a long time especially when Roger says how Freddie sounded like a sheep; i.e. he had the power but not the voice. This area of Queen history has me glued now, it's been upped since the Sotheby's auction last year when there were handwritten setlists and lyrics which completely changed timelines. There could be stuff in the book which none of us ever knew and it could be massive. It's the little things like knowing for sure now See What A Fool I've Been existed early on in Queen history. I wonder what else we'll discover. I'm excited!

Here’s a question to start an argument!…
Should the Bohemian Rhapsody film version of ‘Doin’ Alright’ be included in the Queen 1 Box Set?!? (Perhaps as a downloadable extra maybe?)….it does contain some of the original recorded parts!

Freddie's vocals on TNCD are autotuned It's specially clear to me on the 2:42 to 2:50 mark. Compare it with the original and you'll notice that the lines were a bit flat, and now it's pitch perfect. I like the new sound, but would have preferred if they didn't mess with the pitch, at least not on the original record, the demos are another story. My thinking exactly!!! As soon as I've heard it I went back to the original 73' LP, gave it a listen and they've for sure meddled with the last "and it's night again" and the original harmony sounds better. They just could not resist, couldn't they ?!

Everybody- I will be working on a "purist" 1973 vocals mix! I am not a fan of the pitch correction, so I'll be flying in the vocals from the original mix I'm close to finished with TNCD and I'll post that on the YouTube section in the forum once it's done. I'll do the whole album as it comes out. manymilesaway, do you need the clean copy of the original UK 1973 pressing ?

The thing that stood out to me in the press release was the mention of a lot of acoustic guitar in the outtakes. We found out recently that there is acoustic guitar in My Fairy King so I can't wait to hear if there are instruments or backing vocals buried in mixes that will be able to be heard clearly.

They did it with the Miracle outtakes disc and the Mr. Bad Guy "special edition", and it might ruin all future archival releases for me. These aren't alternate vocal takes, this is an act of revisionist history!

Calling the album "Queen 1" instead of "Queen" just seems wrong to be me.
They should have kept it's original tittle.
