Protopunk sure did, and Deep Purple was already going in that direction with tracks like Speed King and Highway Star. I really object to calling Highway Star "protopunk". That's hard rock through and through. Speed King might be more debatable, Highway Star isn't.
EDIT: to elaborate: the use of a harmonic minor scale, a surprisingly complex chord progression that is not strictly diatonic, a classical-inspired guitar solo and a baroque organ solo. This is anathema to punk, not paving the way to it.
I was nver into punnk , I find post punk UK scene far more creative and interesting, but again not cup of my tea. I think without being a fan that , Iggy Pop Stooges maybe is proto punk. My assumption about SHA song is, during that period only one song of Roger was included,so probably he wrote it with TF. He and the others decided that TF was better for the album. As he suggested to Brian to add to SMM the stroomtroopers in stilettos on the title, he probably did the same for the album title. The song was shelved and when the time was right it was reworked.

Anyone in Europe ordered from the official store that received theirs already? I got a DHL note in the post yesterday since I wasn't home, so, just wondering if that could be it.

No extra charges on delivery" statement on the invoice actually means something.

I’ve just one question about the super deluxe boxset: since it is considered a limited edition, how many copies of the boxset were printed/released? many thanks 🙂

I'd like to have the whole box as for the miracle. I think it should be this way. With news of the world it was different but it was 7 years ago... things have changed maybe.. Even The police released on this summer the whole boxset of Synchronicity on Spotify

Agreed! where is admin when he very need It's the eve of the release, and clearly some people already have it, although we do ask that they respect those that are awaiting delivery by not giving too much away. I really don't see comments like "Liar sounds awesome" as a problem, but if you don't want to see spoilers, it would probably be best to log out of here until you've got the box yourself.

We do our best to keep our eyes on things but sometimes we can’t get to something as quickly as possible. And, as the good Lord said, a comment of something sounding awesome isn’t a spoiler.

In all the excitement of the box set coming, I have a newfound appreciation for the Queen I era now, I’ve been constantly playing my original LP of the US release of the first album and the de lane Lea demos. However one may think of the adjustments made to the rerelease, it goes to show really just how fierce they were in the early days. I don’t think I’ve ever appreciated more, it reminds me of when I was a teen listening to these albums over and over again. Just a little post for positivity’s sake

Listened to the vinyl today. Sounds superb. I just don't hear any autotune. Freddie's voice is so clear.

The banter at the start of Mad the Swine (Trident Take 3) is absolutely hilarious. Brian actually referred to Freddie as Bulsara I guess this was recorded before Freddie had his name changed from Freddie Bulsara to Freddie Mercury. Such an interesting piece of history.

What i was wondering having heard new snippets of the remastered DLL demo's, didn't they have those back in 2011 for the deluxe treatment of the albums and went with Brian's acetate instead? Indeed, this seems to suggest the masters were found in the last decade or so. As stated on the liner notes of the 2011 remaster issue: "The only known original source of these recordings is a 12" acetate belonging to Brian"Now, I would like to point out that there could be a caveat here. Given how notoriously secretive and well guarded Queen have been over the years about what's in their archive, what this could have very well meant the whole time was that they didn't have the master 1/4" stereo mixdown master tape, but they could have had the multitracks the whole time yet didn't feel like making a new mix from scratch at the time the 2011 bonus EP stuff was assembled. And I say this, because it never made sense to me these claims that the master tapes were "lost," and yet it had been the De Lane Lea multitrack tape of "The Night Comes Down" that was used for the Queen album (snuck in the studio inside an EMI tape box, as we recently found out!), which had a clear difference in the way the mix sounded compared to the acetate version, especially noticeable on the drums. So, I find it unfathomable and illogical that they would have had somehow "lost" those master tapes taking that song into account. Just my two pence here...

I don't buy for a second that the De Lane Lea demo master tapes were lost, Queen's VERY FIRST studio sessions, and then just immediately found. I think it also very well could have been the case of QPL not FULLY knowing what was in the archive. For example, they thought the NOTW multitracks were lost but then the NOTW boxset came out, so surely that's not true. Perhaps Queen's original assets were just a mess for decades and they didn't know that they had the multitracks for the DLL sessions until further investigation into the archive.

For instance, "God Save The Queen" was thought lost, and certainly wasn't "available" when they re-mixed ANATO for 5.1 DVD-Audio in 2001/02. But had been since found on the same tape reel as "Procession", and was properly re-mixed for the 30th anniversary DVD in 2005, and subsequent Blu-ray audio release.

Heard the full album remix yesterday. Those bastards baited us hard. They release the worst remix and saved the best for later. Liar and Great Rat King were STUNNING. I don't even care if the vocals were autotuned, they absolutely blew me away. Overall, I'd give it a solid 8 or 9 out of 10. I hope they do this with other albums, it's THAT good. Haven't heard the other sides yet, will edit my post upon doing so.
