When you look at the QI Box Set... it looks beautiful, the idea is here, the right thinking is here! : studio recordings, out-takes, tracks recorded during live gigs. The only missing thing is the video material (early shows / interviews / promotional video-clips and promo rushes). Then you read the track-listing and you recognize the old patterns : tracks that had already been released for a different QPL's project, scattering few tracks over one CD which should not take place if Brian is such a pro-environment person. Well said. You missed the worst of QPL’s patterns: the instrumental disc, which is such a low quality value add it’s unreal. They could - should ? - add a surround mix of the album but I suspect they know that this wouldn’t move the needle when it comes to sales that much, so the cheap option wins. Never change, QPL… I must disagree, for me instrumental versions were always a gem. You can hear so many interesting details that are somehow usually lost in the overall mix. Personally I would love to have an instrumental version of EVERY Queen track

Wait a minute, speaking about instrumentals disk and then I realized something: "SSOR..." is also on the "backing tracks" CD, but its already an instrumental, will it just be the same track? Also, technically, "backing track" often used to mean just the bare instrumental bones, without overdubs and solos, not the full instrumental, so are we gonna get that or proper instrumentals?....

What you're talking about is the "Basic track" term. The first thing musicians record for the song in the studio. The bulk of the song.

Usually a backing track is what tape artists use when performing, in other words: a track containing everything except the lead vocals.

Just watched the video (fluked the timing).
Hmmm....
Sums up my feelings about AI - deeply impressive but often utterly unconvincing.
The less said about the psychedelic trip at the end, the better

Anyone watched the video yet? Personally, I really like it, especially the totally psychedelic animation at the end.

In my opinion, the video was terrible. At first, I thought it was ok with Brian and John’s photos moving, but the ones of Freddie and especially Roger look so lifeless and fake, especially Roger’s eyes.
And I know this is nitpicking, but if they’re going to include footage Rainbow, why didn’t they crop it to 16:9 or make the rest of the video into 4:3? It looked so unprofessional.

Quote from Press-Release:But the band insisted on using a recording from De Lane Lea Studios rather than attempt a new version at Trident. They smuggled in their demo multi-track tape in a newly labelled ‘Trident’ box in order to mix the song for the album. that's really not the case though. are they rewriting history? everything I've ever read/heard to date says that they DID record TNCD at Trident, but hated it so opted to use the De Lane Lea demo instead.

Agreed. Plus, logically, the first order of business is "OK, let's do the songs you demo'd"

That video... good god. Reading Rudi's book, originally the I'm Going Slightly Mad video was going to feature a robotic Freddie Mercury singing the song and the management and band went along with it, but Freddie had his doubts. "Isn't it a little cold?" He asked Rudi for his assurance, and Rudi unconvincingly suggested it might be okay, maybe. However, it didn't sit right with Freddie and after a few days, he came up with something so much more memorable, artistic, original and humorous. Despite him being in the late stages of AIDs, it was this care for his craft, which separated him from so many other artists.
So why haven't Queen productions continued with this spirit? There's thousands of artists around the world, who if given £10k and a month, could have come up with something so much better than this shite. If the AI animation was good - I wouldn't have such a problem with it. But it looks crap, is something anyone can do on their phone with the right app and is god damn disrespectful and lazy to the legacy of Freddie Mercury. Oh also, whilst I've got you - stop fucking autotuning Freddie's voice.

I didn't like the video, however every decade has its complaints, in the 80s drum machines, use of synths, much echo in guitars, in 90s digital recordings and photoshop in album covers, now is the A.i.
Everything is tool and everything depends how is used.
I would prefer they had approach some artists like they did in MIH films, at least some videos were really good.
I hope in the future the use of A.i. in their videos will be much better

The video does look very unprofessional doesn't it, like a fan has created an AI music video with an online photo lipsyncing site. They've not even chosen a good photo to lipsync, as Freddie's mouth is obscured and pulls the mic along with the mouth movement. They signed off on that as okay....
I wish they kept it just for the Psychedelia animated looking section.
some aren't too bad, Brian may getting make up on.... is probably the most convincing.....Oh well, typical Queen, the budget option.

The beginning was fine, but the moment Freddie's picture came around, I was horrified. It looks completely unhuman and quite unlike Freddie, his mouth even glitches a bit. For someone that was ""specializing"" in AI, this looks horrendous.

Was it worth to wait so long with the premiere of the video if it turned out to be crap? Photos spoiled by AI mixed with video footage of the concert in Rainbow. It would be better to restore the deleted clips of Keep Yourself Alive and Liar than to release such an obvious fake.

I would say pay decent money to an animator, or forget a music video and just animate the lyrics, basic, cheap and gives something for music channels to show.

That certainly was a video. I didn’t HATE it, but I think I’ve fulfilled my duty as a fan by watching it once, and I have no plans on watching it again.
I think the best of these “new videos for songs that didn’t have a video” was, hands down, All Dead All Dead.

"That's TV" It once played "Being for the benefit of Mr Kite" over stock footage of a guy playing a violin in a field. Beautiful local channel content. But point taken...

Is TNCD the only Queen song that has a completely different drum sound on three different versions (excl Hollywood remixes?) - original mix, De Lane Lea demo mix and 2024 mix with potentially the 2024 demo mix being different too.

Hmmm the video's not great but it's not as offensive to me as it seems to be to some people here. I wonder how these decisions get made these days? If theyre gonna use AI they should pull out all the stops and really make it look good.
On a positive note, the pitch correction, while noticeable, sounds markedly better than prior things they've done with it. I still don't want it there, but it isn't overwhelming.

To be fair, that's from the psychedelic portion and there's a lot of weirdness happening at that part. Altho that screengrab is particularly disturbing.

Are they coming out of a vagina at the end?
Perhaps the AI that created this music video analysed every song, every video, every album cover, every lyric and every note ever played by Queen and said to itself, “if there’s one image that encapsulates this band, it’s got to be them sliding out of a giant psychedelic vagina.”
