The use of autotune killed my interest. Still makes me sick. Each to their own, but I still think that's a bit of a extreme reaction, and you're missing out on a clutch of tremendous material if you're dismissing the whole box set because of it.

I don't think it's possible to be completely sure without being able to hear the drum tracks in isolation, but it sounds to me like heavily processed drums, not dubbed samples.
They're absolutely the original drums with modern mixing. Proof? If you listen to the 1991 remix of Liar, the snare drum sounds much closer to the 2024 version than the 1973 version. It's sort of an in-between for both. I've included some YouTube links with timestamps to demonstrate my point. You can hear the DNA of what would later become the 2024 snare. @ 4:18 - where have those bongo drums been for the last 51 years ? I don't think I ever noticed them before.

I've always noticed them in the 1991 mix, same with the shakers. It was the most interesting part of the 1991 remix to me.

The drums just sounded too artificial and stuck out like a sore thumb for me to persevere with it, along with a few of those other remixes on the subsequent albums.

There's some diamonds in the rough. The 1991 remix of Somebody To Love has a ton of unused vocals, and the Trent Reznor remix of Stone Cold Crazy is genuinely just awesome.

I’d forgotten about this.
As a NIN fan I usually like most of what Trent Reznor does. Imagine what he could do with Queen II 😎

Love 99% of what is in the box set and have enjoyed reading through everyones views. I need to give it another good hear when I get the house to myself but love the band talking and working around the tracks disc - even if its not 100% in the moment/at that moment but is new to me never heard. I have never heard Hangman but sorry it was a B side at best to me and see why they worked on other tracks for future albums but good to have and good quality. Some have Great King Rat as a highlight and so if you are one of those I have made a video for it and what better time and hope you find it a treat.
Sorry, I hate to talk down on the work of a passionate fan, but I'm of the opinion that all generative AI is low effort, soulless slop. It was bad with TNCD, and although you gave more attention to detail here, it still feels soulless and hollow. I appreciate the effort you put into naturally integrating the footage, but it's still just devoid of any creativity or artistic intent. (In comparison to say, All Dead, All Dead's fantastic video.)[ Your effort is clearly more visible than QPL's video made for The Night Comes Down, but I dislike both. I'd rather get punched in the gut than kicked in the balls, but I don't appreciate either. No problem not for you (some) I get it and knew my head was on the chopping block putting it up on a Queen forum. If I could get even brian and Roger to perform and let me film them I could add more - said with hope not a dig to anyone. Its not AI working on this its a human using AI from my own work creating the images first. Thanks to those who loved it and a Jesus video is coming soon (so cricket box ready ) and I fully understand those who dont like it and I would feel the same just flicking me eyes at it not being involved but to bring something new to the table it has to be created some way (we cant keep using the same clips and draw in new eyes) - not talking about my effort from my PC but the stuff Queen themselves put out. For my boy music and pictures go together and wont just hear something it has to be viewed. Im old school Walkman doing stuff for love of Queen and now seeing how things will be with the kids. I thank Queen for the new mix making Queen about now for him not dusty old CDs on Dads shelf. As someone mentioned above to older fans if they said it was a new imagine for 2024 I think some/most would warm to it more and not hear the orginal and then the new and compare whats good or not. Anyway love and love of Queen to all.[/div]
Question to anyone. Where have you put your Queen I CD on the shelf in your Queen collection? I thought it would sit it next to Queen (original) before Queen II but I have placed it at the end next to (from memory) Rogers last Album. Another question if I can. Do you have your Queen CDs on a shelf then the solo stuff on another or do you have it all together in date order as come out. Date order is how I have it - not that anyone asked All have a great time and roll on Queen II

Agree with the Lord. Dont let the odd bit of autotune get in the way of some gems in the box set. Take out the first disc and put in the orginal if anyone needs to and it will feel like your Queen plus some bonus stuff that your(ones) money buying is helping bring out the next thing you might love.

speedy - above edited to correct quotes. I hope it's right now. Folks, please try not to merge other people's quotes into your own comments, otherwise it gets confusing as to who said what. 🙂

can't seem to find the thread.....
is it exclusive to ONE streaming outlet?
the lack of a physical surround option when the mix IS ALREADY DONE, is just insane

Simple minds are releasing their New Gold Dream and Sparkle In the Rain albums in Dolby atmos on Blu-ray limited edition through the SDE website in February. Shame that Queen aren’t doing something similar .

Am I alone in finding the cleaned-up De Lane Lea versions superior to the Trident takes they used for the album?

Am I alone in finding the cleaned-up De Lane Lea versions superior to the Trident takes they used for the album? I think the Trident opportunity was great for the band, but bad for the first album. Keep Yourself Alive lost its way as a commercial entity which is what it needed to be, and they learnt their lesson for Seven Seas.

Keep Yourself Alive lost its way as a commercial entity which is what it needed to be, and they learnt their lesson for Seven Seas. there's a misconception about whether the first LP or single could've ever been commercial hits. they couldn't. in any world. the single was completely out of step with what was deemed radio friendly in '73. take a look at the charts from that year and there's nothing even remotely similar making the top 10. as for the LP: I don't think the recording process/timeline had much to do with the (lack of) success. Take a look at all of the other major rock acts from the period: Genesis, Yes, Deep Purple, Free, Elton John, Bowie, 10cc, Eagles, Thin Lizzy, ELO, and Rainbow : none of them produced a commercial success first time out. There are exceptions whose debut LPs breached the top 10 (Zep, Floyd and Sabbath spring to mind) - but they're an exception rather than the rule.
