While browsing on YT, I found David Bowie's band Tin Machine and their cover of Lennon's Workin' Class Hero (covered exactly ten years later by Roger for his EF album). Bowie's version starts with small drum intro, which remindes me Brian's Resurrection. Do you thing Cozy was influenced or is it just common way how to start a song with drums?

This is "Formula One" (Gary Moore on guitar!) from Cozy's 1983 album "Octopuss". Not saying that you aren't right, but I think this song is seminal to "Resurrection".

The guy who co-wrote the song actually lives near me. I only found out it was him a few years back.

Yes that's him, though I should point out the obvious that he is a her now, hence the name change. Great guitarist though.

Interesting news, for me guys, thanks a lot! I didn't know that Brian's solo work and writing was so influenced by (or shared with) Cozy.

The Formula One song screams FBI by The Shadows and later Brian.
