This morning, we have a new single by Roger, it's called Isolation. And on the credits we see Roger and Joshua Josh. You could hear it here:

New track ... on Spotify this morning. Lyrics relevant our situation today but voice sounds like something around the Happiness period. What do others think?

it seems that it will have some media coverage: Tune into BBC 5 live with Tony Livesey & Anna Foster today at 4.45pm as Roger joins them LIVE for a chat about his current activity...
He will also be on Radio 2 with Steve Wright on Wednesday between 2pm and 5pm and live with Chris Evans on Virgin Radio on the same day. Plus, look out for features with Matt Everitt on BBC Radio 6 and Radio 2 Music News

Nice to see Roger has been busy during lockdown. I expected both of them to record some stuff on their own, although Brian has probably just done what we saw in social media.
An average track, but at this point he might have at least half an album worth of songs. Who knows what this year could yield since they're not touring for the time being.
Strange times indeed...

I really like it. Very catchy strumming. Gets better with every listen.

Just saying: in most boards, when a new topic is posted multiple times, every duplicate after the original is locked and discussion goes on in the first posted topic.

always liked Roger's solo work. he's the bona fide rock and roll star of the band.
this song really takes me back to his earlier stuff. his vocals are very much of the "Happiness" (1994) era. and the "strange times indeed." effect used for the chorus is straight out of 1981's Fun In Space title track. Right at the end there's a couple of little vocal phrasings that are very similar to "Strange Frontier"
really good. also, the tune itself...it's nagging me (but the dark recesses of my aged memory are not retrieving the origins.

Not bad. Roger's work is my favourite of the solo releases, so always happy to hear new stuff. Sentimental, based on these 'strange times'...

I also like RT's solo stuff. This one reminds me Gangsters Are Running This World (the slower version), or (dont' know why) some Christmas song :-D But his voice sounds to my ears so fresh, like in some slower songs he did with The Cross. Anyway, every new song is welcomed, this one is not brillient but good. Btw the "Strange times" part with multiple voices is now my favourite part of this song

I don't mind it, after the first listen. I'll have to give it another, louder, go after work. It does sound like it would fit nicely with some older Roger stuff but it's new to me so I'm happy!

This is growing on me a lot - wasn't that impressed on first listen but I like it a lot now. The chorus bit reminds me of Quality Street and the overall sound is probably somewhere between Fun On Earth and Happiness. Good to hear some nice synth sounds on it rather than that guitar feedback effect that plagued most tracks off his last album.

Hmmmm....doesn't do a lot for me really. Just more of the standard Roger stuff he does these days. It's not bad but doesn't hook me in. Still, good to see him still releasing stuff.

I quite like the song actually, the one thing I don't like is the ending as it sounds a bit pathetic. I know Roger doesn't like key changes but the final "strange times indeed" verse just needs that little something else to make it a bit different to the first "strange times indeed" verse so it sounds like the song is ending or accomplished.
N.B. I was just going to put the initials of "strange times indeed" but I realised it looked a bit inappropiate!

After listening to this for a couple of days, it's grown on me. Would be interested to see what a potential album would sound like.

That would be cool though I have a feeling it would at least be partially a collection of his output since Fun On Earth. Though it would mean a few new tracks as well... You'd probably get Shores of Formentera, Absolutely Anything, Journey's End, Gangsters are Running this World, and Isolation, and then a few new tracks...

Pretty sure "The Shores Of Formentera" might have been a b-side but then Roger never cared to include it in any "Fun On Earth" release, but it's nice to have it on his website. In any case he's got at least half an album already, perhaps more.

Adding to the interview collection in support of this single. (Not a fan of it tho, Chris Evans asking him about his first instrument since 1998 🙄)

That's actually pretty good, IMHO. I find it surprising that it sounds more like the Happiness?-album than any of his later stuff!

I think, pretty much like life just now, it's pretty bland. He has a great voice, but the majority of his output (for me anyway) is pretty drab. I'm now off to contradict myself by listening to Sunny Day.
