February 16, 1975 (Avery Fisher Hall; New York, New York, USA) - first showSunday at 8 PMSetlist: Procession Now I'm Here Ogre Battle Father To Son White Queen Flick Of The Wrist In The Lap Of The Gods Killer Queen The March Of The Black Queen Bring Back That Leroy Brown Son And Daughter Keep Yourself Alive Stone Cold Crazy Liar In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited Big Spender Jailhouse Rock God Save The Queen Mahogany Rush were supposed to support Queen, but couldn't make it, so John Quarn filled in. 2,750 people were at this show (Ryan's link doesn't have the attendance, but I assume the attendance for both shows were the same). Originally, only one show was planned at this venue. A second one was added since tickets sold out quickly. Ivan Kral, a Czech musician, recorded a little bit of this show. 3 minutes exist, but only a few seconds of Father To Son have been shown to the public. On the video, he had watermarked it, so Bob Harley made an attempt to remove it (Quality: B-). www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSI_1pgt91k 2 seconds of a slightly higher quality and uncropped version of the footage can be seen in the trailer for Night Lunch, a film by Ivan Kral. There are lots of things covering the footage though (Quality: B-). www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9xF04Hvnoc&t=6sSources: queenlive.ca, queenconcerts.com, Ryan Newton, IvanKralVault

February 21, 1975 (Capitol Theatre; Passaic, New Jersey, USA) Friday from 8 PM - around 2:30 AM Setlist: Procession Now I'm Here Ogre Battle Father To Son White Queen Flick Of The Wrist In The Lap Of The Gods Killer Queen The March Of The Black Queen Bring Back That Leroy Brown Son And Daughter Keep Yourself Alive Stone Cold Crazy Liar In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited Big Spender Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll Jailhouse Rock God Save The Queen
Kansas and Argent were supporting Queen. Kansas's set went fine, but Argent's was a disaster. During their performance, their equipment broke down. They fixed it after 2 hours. For some reason, they came back for an encore. You couldn't even hear them since the booing was so loud. Finally, at 1 AM, Queen came on. The funny thing is, the show was supposed to end at around 11 PM.

Kansas were supporting Queen. A picture of the ticket stub has "7" written over the original "8". I'm not sure if that means that the time changed, the person wanted to throw off people, or they were just bored, but the first option seems more likely.

Kansas were supporting Queen. After this show, Freddie could barely speak. He went to see a throat specialist at the Philadelphia University Hospital, and got diagnosed with throat nodules. It was recommended not to speak or sing for the next three months. But since the band were already on their way to the next show, he decided to go along.

February 24, 1975 (John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; Washington, D.C., USA) Monday at 8:30 PM Setlist: Procession Now I'm Here Ogre Battle Father To Son White Queen Flick Of The Wrist In The Lap Of The Gods Killer Queen The March Of The Black Queen Bring Back That Leroy Brown Son And Daughter Keep Yourself Alive Stone Cold Crazy Liar In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited Big Spender Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll Jailhouse Rock God Save The Queen
Kansas and Mahogany Rush were supporting Queen. Queen almost missed this show. Freddie missed soundcheck for this show. Queen got on stage a bit late, but apparently did a great show. A day after this show, Freddie checked with another specialist and they said that it was only swelling. He checked with one more and they also said it was swelling. But the first diagnosis was in fact, correct. The band cancelled a few shows to let Freddie rest. After this experience, there would be days off between shows. His nodule problem would become a bit of a problem in the later years, but he refused to get surgery since he thought it would affect his voice. The cancelled shows were:

Mahogany Rush were supporting Queen. According to people at the show, one audience member kept yelling for The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke. To make him quiet down, Freddie played about 10 seconds of it on the piano. After Flick Of The Wrist, John rips his trousers, and Freddie points it out to everyone. He says, "Bass guitarist John Deacon, oh he's there. He's split his trousers! Have a look! A little nice bit of fun." Brian adds, "That's a real treat." Before they transition into In The Lap Of The Gods, Freddie says, "Okay, right now while we do this strip act, we'd like to do a medley for you. About four pieces, three pieces from our album called Sheer Heart Attack. Also we'll do a snatch of Killer Queen. So here it goes, 1, 2, 3, 4!" John changed his pants during Brian's solo. This show was released in 1975, but since it was on vinyl, it was cut down to be only 45 minutes. April 19, 1975 (Nippon Budokan; Tokyo, Japan) Saturday from 6:45 PM - 8:30 PMSetlist: Procession Now I'm Here Ogre Battle Father To Son White Queen Flick Of The Wrist Doing All Right In The Lap Of The Gods Killer Queen The March Of The Black Queen Bring Back That Leroy Brown Son And Daughter Keep Yourself Alive Seven Seas Of Rhye Stone Cold Crazy Liar In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited Big Spender Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll Jailhouse Rock See What A Fool I've Been God Save The Queen ~14,000 people were at this show (it didn't originally sell out, so complimentary tickets were given out, so the band wouldn't be embarrassed). This is Queen's first show in Japan, a place where they had a lot of success. When they arrived on the 17th, they received their own "Beatlemania". Footage of their arrival can be seen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3bzZex_6m8. On the 18th, they had a press conference and got gold records for their album, "Sheer Heart Attack" (footage of that can be seen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3bzZex_6m8&t=185s). They did a soundcheck past 11 AM. Before the show, the band were told that the audience would be very quiet and stay calm, but in reality the opposite happened. Sumo wrestlers were also hired to keep people off the stage. This show was apparently recorded for TV, but no footage has been shown to the public. During the show, the audience rushed up to the front of the stage screaming. Freddie was very clearly overwhelmed by the amount of people there. After Ogre Battle, Freddie tries calming the audience by saying, "Listen! Shuush! Quiet! You're going to have to be careful. Calm down a bit. We're gonna be here for a long time, so don't rush so much. Don't rush the front of the stage. Take it easy, okay? You know what I want? We're all gonna have a good time." Nothing really changed for the next song: "I'm getting a show of my own! You're gonna have to quiet down a bit, so people don't get hurt. Please, take care of yourselves. Just behave and listen!" Freddie has to shush the audience before singing the first verse of White Queen: "You'll have to listen. Hush!" At some point during their stay in Japan, Roger was noticed at a shop, and the owner exclaimed, "Ah, you Queen!" The owner then took pictures of him for the next ten minutes. The best recording of this show is a merge of two sources, with Son And Daughter cut (Quality: B+/B-). www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQU4YicrwEM. The show is around 1 hour and 43 minutes long. The next day, they have a traditional picnic, but they have a bit of trouble sitting properly. Freddie gets scolded by the head of the tea ceremony because of that. Footage: www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3bzZex_6m8&t=336s. They also get interviewed: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mI6oZUAbM0. The band does a soundcheck at 2:30 PM. Brian plays a bit of Teruteru Bozu during this concert. Freddie riles up the audience before Keep Yourself Alive, and causes a scene in the audience. Before Liar, Freddie says, "I don't know how you're gonna get back to your seats, but take it easy. Don't fight. You can stand up, but don't push." Later, during the breakdown, he says, "Listen, you gotta stop all this fighting. All you gotta do is clap your hands and you'll be left alone. You don't have to fight." The band accidentally ends up in the key of D, and Freddie tells them (somewhat away from his mic), "Wrong key!" Brian also addresses the problem: "Thank you, you've been very kind. I just hope nobody gets hurt. I really hope you have a good time, where nobody goes too far, okay? This features Freddie again. It's called In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited." This show has the first known instance of Freddie doing a vocal exchange with the audience. The band can't leave the venue for an hour, since a lot of fans were waiting by the dressing room. The best recording of this show has Son And Daughter cut, and has See What A Fool I've Been and God Save The Queen missing (Quality: B/B+). www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbnN4sKrekk The show is around 1 hour and 46 minutes long. The band does some rehearsing for the concert at around 3 PM. Brian apparently practiced Nanatsu no Ko during their rehearsals. Roger's drum playing tonight is amazing, and Freddie notices it: "You're doing well tonight, Rog." Tonight's audience would be the calmest audience for the Japan tour. Freddie begins singing the second chorus of Killer Queen, before remembering their live arrangement. In Freddie's vocal exchange, he tells the audience, "I'm gonna teach you some English words." For some reason, he chooses to say "shag out". Before the next song, Brian says, "I don't know what to make of that. We quite don't know what to make of all it. We're a little bewildered up here. This is Queen's final show of their "Sheer Heart Attack" tour/first Japan tour, and because of that, they want to end it off with a bang. This would be the end of "early" Queen, since they would "mature" by the next tour. The show was originally planned to begin at 6:30 PM. The rarely-heard song, Hangman, is played tonight. Tonight are also the final performances of In The Lap Of The Gods and the full version of Great King Rat. This show was also recorded on video, but it's unknown how much was recorded. Freddie gets very excited before Keep Yourself Alive: "And now this is where you join in with us. You can clap your hands to this next number. We'd like you especially to join in. You can stand up if you'd like, you can stamp your feet, you can have a good time! This is called Keep Yourself Alive!" The band come out in kimonos for the encore, getting the audience even more riled up. The best recording is a merge of Stark's remaster of the "Song Brothers" audience recording (Quality: A-), and the "In The Land Of The Rising Sun" source (Quality: B+), which is complete. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXDzaWm7uIQ The show is around 2 hours long. Only about 16 minutes of footage of the entire show have been released to the public (sometimes it's been said to be from the 19th). Chinwonder2, Ryan Newton, The Real Wizard, and "Yamaguchi" (a Queenzone user) all helped to find the best sources, point out certain song footage, and sync it to the audience recording. The compiled footage (which can be seen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3bzZex_6m8&t=492s) has Now I'm Here (including an alternate angle), Doing All Right (cut), In The Lap Of The Gods (cut + alternate angle), Killer Queen, The March Of The Black Queen (cut), Son And Daughter (cut), Keep Yourself Alive (cut + alternate angle), Stone Cold Crazy (cut), Liar (cut), In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited, Jailhouse Rock (cut), See What A Fool I've Been (cut), God Save The Queen (end credits for the film). The band would leave for London the next day. Sources: queenlive.ca, deathtoming's Japan 1975 thread, Ryan Newton

November 14, 1975 (Empire Theatre; Liverpool, England)Friday from 7:30 PM - 9 PMSetlist: Bohemian Rhapsody (*operatic & rock) - *: tape, since it never fully performed live Ogre Battle Sweet Lady White Queen Flick Of The Wrist Bohemian Rhapsody (remember the medley Boh Rhaps mean "ballad", since it'd be boring to keep putting "ballad") Killer Queen The March Of The Black Queen Bohemian Rhapsody (reprise) Bring Back That Leroy Brown The Prophet's Song Stone Cold Crazy Doing All Right Son And Daughter Keep Yourself Alive Liar In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited Now I'm Here Big Spender Jailhouse Rock God Save The Queen Queen's relationship with 'Trident' wasn't going too well, since they didn't have enough money. Roger was told not to break any drum sticks, and they weren't able to give John a 2,000-pound down payment on his house. They needed a new management, and went with Elton John's manager, John Reid. He told them that he would solve their financial issues, and wanted them to make the best record they could make. A US tour from July to August was being booked around this time, but since they were all arenas (too big for a not-so-popular band), they were cancelled. And so began the recording session of "A Night At The Opera". Roger recalls that this album was "make it or break it" for the band. Brian also recalls that they would have almost certainly broken up if the album wasn't successful. Scarcely played songs: Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon (Japan/some US gigs), Son And Daughter (full version; early UK shows), Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll, See What A Fool I've Been, Hangman (either in "medley" with Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll or full), Shake, Rattle and Roll, Stupid Cupid, Be-Bop-A-Lula, Father To Son. This is Queen's first show of the UK "A Night At The Opera" tour. 2,300 people were at it. Mr. Big were supporting Queen. Before the show, Queen recorded the video for "Bohemian Rhapsody" at Elstree Studios just outside London, costing 4,500 pounds. It took them four hours to do, so they had to rush to the show. Originally, only the November 15 show was scheduled, but this one was added due to ticket demand. DJ Kenny Everett, someone who had played Bohemian Rhapsody on the radio over twelve times in a single weekend, created a introduction tape for the band to use. Freddie would throw flowers into the audience at many shows on this tour. Bohemian Rhapsody, The Prophet's Song, and Sweet Lady are played for the first time tonight. The band almost trainwreck Sweet Lady, but they fortunately recover. The best recording of this show has some speech after Sweet Lady missing, Keep Yourself Alive cut, and God Save The Queen missing (Quality: B-). www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mmFoHbz1_A The show is around 1 hour and 30 minutes long. Mr. Big were supporting Queen. During the soundcheck, Brian's guitar was creating lots of feedback. They eventually found the problem, which was a hidden cable in the generator system. The soundcheck was delayed, but the show went on in time. This is the first known performance of Brighton Rock. It mostly replaces Son And Daughter, with only one verse of Son And Daughter being played. Big Spender isn't played for this first show. David Wigg, a journalist, shared this story about either one of the Manchester shows in a 2020 podcast: "I went to the concert and I went backstage and Mary [Austin] was there. And they were roaring, calling him back for more, and he came out of the side platform of the stage into the dressing room, picked up an iron and threw it through a full length mirror that he dressed in front of earlier. And I said, 'Freddie, Gosh! You're obviously not superstitious. That's seven years bad luck in my family.' And he said, 'Well that means I've got another seven years to live, haven't I, David?'" The outburst was caused by a faulty microphone on stage. In an interview, Roger says that the band found out that Bohemian Rhapsody had hit number one on the bus to this gig. He recalls that they celebrated by having a lot of drinks. John S Stuart has an explanation about this venue, once looking at the pictures: "The Capitol Theatre in Aberdeen was not a theatre - it was a cinema. It was not one of those multiplexes as we know today - it was one of those 1930's Grand Picture Palaces, an art nouvea cathedral to the moving image, complete with classic cinema organ and everything. At the time these photographs were taken it was one of the largest indoor venues in Aberdeen. It was one large auditorium (stalls, balcony, circle, upper balcony, etc.), and when bands like Queen or Quo came to town, they would raise the large silver screen to re-create a small stage. I remember at the time a Francis Rossi [of Status Quo] quote upon seeing it, he said something along the lines of 'we couldn't fit the bloody drums in there.' I am fairly sure it is Aberdeen, and with the pink cinema seats, the small cinema stage, and the closeness of the audience to the band I would pretty much bet on it." Mr. Big were supporting Queen. Brian has a bit of trouble getting into the drop-D tuning at the beginning of The Prophet's Song. Freddie also sings a bit of Frère Jacques during the middle section. According to a fan, Freddie (likely during Liar) was "doing arm and leg dramatics in sync with the chords and fell off the drum platform right in front of Roger Taylor. Momentary embarrassment! But he looked up, being on the floor of the Apollo, and just grinned a big cheeser as if to say 'well, the roof caved in there, eh?'" Someone stole Roger's drum cymbals at this concert. The best recording of this show is a bit weird. A 93-minute recording (Quality: C) seems to have some parts patched in from a higher generation copy, or maybe even a different concert. The latter can't be proven, though, as we have no other recordings. A 77-minute recording (Quality: C+) is slightly better, and it's supposedly from the master tape (which is very questionable, as there is a fade out, and some parts are missing which were on the other one). The intro tape, Ogre Battle, The Prophet's Song, Stone Cold Crazy, and Now I'm Here are cut. Bohemian Rhapsody (operatic & rock) and God Save The Queen are missing. Quality: C+/C; www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VrBV-fxjpU. The recorded show is 1 hour and 33 minutes long. Mr. Big were supporting Queen. This is the final show of the A Night At The Opera 1975 UK tour (minus the Christmas show). The band may have done a third encore at this show, but the recording cuts out at the end of Big Spender. This show was recently released on its 45th anniversary. In the recording, you can hear the audience screaming at people in the front to sit down. The best recording was remastered by Ed from the Dogs of Doom (Quality: B-), and with at least Jailhouse Rock and God Save The Queen missing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtJj8Nb53Iw The recorded show is around 1 hour and 31 minutes long. Setlist: Now I'm Here Ogre Battle White Queen Bohemian Rhapsody Killer Queen The March Of The Black Queen Bohemian Rhapsody (reprise) Bring Back That Leroy Brown Brighton Rock Son And Daughter Keep Yourself Alive Liar In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited Big Spender Jailhouse Rock Seven Seas Of Rhye See What A Fool I've Been God Save The Queen 5,000 people were at this show (according to Wikipedia, since Ryan's video is blocked for me). This concert was broadcast on BBC2's "Old Grey Whistle Test". As it was for TV, Queen shortened the set a bit. They began with Now I'm Here instead of Bohemian Rhapsody, as they knew that Now I'm Here worked well as a show opener. Freddie, Brian, and Roger all had the flu at this show. The band are also nervous at this concert, as they're playing to a lot of people either on TV or in the audience. Brian's and Freddie's parents met at this show. They lived close to each other for over sixteen years, but never encountered one another until now. This show had increased Queen's popularity. Freddie tells Roger, "Sock it to 'em, Rog," as he begins playing the intro to Liar. At the end of the song, Roger misses his cue, and Freddie messes up the lyrics by singing "Everything you do is sin" twice. After Big Spender and Jailhouse Rock, the filming crew left. After coming back to do a second encore, Brian says, "This is where we start, I think. We're on our own now, OK?", referring to the crew that left. Tonight's performance of Seven Seas Of Rhye is.... not the best, as Freddie's voice isn't that developed yet. A few minutes of the soundcheck can be seen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsBZKppPBj4. Unlike the Rainbow releases, the official release of this concert has many overdubs and pitch corrections. Chinwonder2's video ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq61Iqat65o) compares it with the original broadcast. The quality of the footage is A+ (they patch up the messed up Liar part with some Son And Daughter footage). The original broadcast's audio has been posted by Raseraa, mostly using the official release's footage (except for the messed up Liar part, which comes from the BBC broadcast). I probably can't link it here, but you can find the video on their channel. The show is around 1 hour and 9 minutes long. Sources: queenlive.ca, queenconcerts.com, Raseraa, Wikipedia

Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon was likely played at this show, so I'll include it in my assumption of the setlist, based off of other known setlists from this tour (which happens to be about the same as the 1975 tour one). In a 1977 interview, Brian said this about the British and American audiences: "Here the fans are more reserved until they have reached a point where they can explode. In the States they are ready to explode at the beginning. They will give you anything you want - once you gain their favour." Cate Brothers were supporting Queen. Only 3 minutes of this show have been released on YouTube. The small compilation consists of: Sweet Lady, White Queen, Flick Of The Wrist, Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, Brighton Rock, Bring Back That Leroy Brown, The Prophet's Song, Stone Cold Crazy, Doing All Right, Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon, Keep Yourself Alive, Seven Seas Of Rhye, Liar, Big Spender, and Jailhouse Rock. The whole show apparently exists, with the first two songs missing (82 minutes long). Quality: B, www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9aabd8U4qo. The show is around 1 hour and 30 minutes long. Cate Brothers were supporting Queen. Freddie introduces Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon as "a typically English ditty." This show was recorded by Dan Lampinski, which is complete. His recording (Quality: A+) was great, but could've been better, as there are some rough edits, and the pitch is slightly sharp. 'Cuztard Pi' remastered it (Quality: A+): mega.nz/#!lhUGzABA!63osJvwVvd8eOzj_Yf14A2LFolcUxThsEY3UFFZLkno. The show is around 1 hour and 40 minutes long. There was also a proposed/partially planned US tour in late summer of '75.

Only 3 nights at the Beacon Theatre were planned, but a fourth one was added due to ticket demand. According to a fan, Queen said that this show was the worst of the tour. Cookies were thrown around, and someone booed at Freddie when he told the audience to shut up. A flash cube was also thrown at Freddie. Elektra Records threw a party for the band after the show. Billie Jean King, Todd Rundgren, David Johansen, Ian Hansen, and Ahmet Ertegun were at this party. Part of the soundcheck was recorded by NBC. Chinwonder2 did a merge of two sources, one of which was restored by Chief Mouse (Video quality: C+/A; Audio quality: B/A). www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDk-rOURJYg A merge of the same two sources was made with an interview (Video quality and audio quality are the same): www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAeDfk4rQ0Q. Barry Krumm recorded a bit of one of the 4 shows. It's not the 6th though, as the recording doesn't match the video. Seven Seas Of Rhye wasn't played at this concert, but since there are so few recordings from this part of the tour, I don't know what nights it was played at, so I'll include it anyway (it was played at the Santa Monica show, but not the Milwaukee show). When Doing All Right is beginning, an audience member says, "I like this song." The best recording of this show is a merge by Ryan Newton, with Now I'm Here's speed fixed by Chinwonder2 (Quality: B). mega.nz/file/3812XYwS#eV0jCCMpg75xPVomfQEaMPtwrEX7m9CEmH5DzaYJqkg The show is around 1 hour and 33 minutes. Cate Brothers were supporting Queen. 3,000 people were likely at this show. A fan who saw all 4 nights said this: "During each show Freddie flipped a deck of cards towards the audience during one of the later songs in the set. He flipped the cards in the air, littering the stage, where they were in short order joined by rose petals and assorted props and forgotten. On the last night, I went down to the front of the stage where I saw the cards up close - there were about 20 or so littering the stage - each card was the Queen of Hearts." After the show, two girls almost strangled Freddie while fighting over his scarf, leaving him with a few bruises. Also after the show, Queen had a huge party at the Poulailler restaurant.

Two pages of copying/pasting and speculation.
Sorry, it's time to lock this thread - it's getting a bit silly.
