Hello:
This is my first post. Sorry if I make any typing mistakes, English is not my native language.
How would you like Roger to release a box set in 2024 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Happiness? Do you think he could be encouraged to re-release one of his most important albums of his career?
Kind regards.

I'd rather a re-release of "Fun In Space" or "Strange Frontier", especially if he can put together a bunch of demos and unreleased tracks. His "Lot" boxset simply didn't cut it.

That would be cool as Happiness is one of my favourite albums and I’ve still to find a vinyl copy at a reasonable price.
I feel like after “The Lot” box set that we wouldn’t see any further box sets from Roger. Wether he would release an Anniversary version of the album, I’m not sure. Id think he’d start with FIS and SF first.

This album deserves an Expanded Reissue, that's for sure. To bring a new life to it. But I don't think this album is very special to Roger as all the others as well... This is something from the past and that's it for him.

In the unlikely event that you can persuade him to go back into the distant past for a re-release (and good luck with that, after The Lot), then in my opinion there are many better candidates.
Queen II for a start...

Queen II for a start... Did you mean Roger Taylor II....? No. If he has time to do an archive release, he can do the work on Queen II. He doesn't have a free "lane" of capacity dedicated to solo efforts

Actually in a way I think he does. I mean anything with Queen he has to wait for and collaborate with Brian and the the rest of Queen Productions on. They have to agree on what to do, how to do it, etc. etc. and that can be a bit more timely. With his solo work, all it takes is him deciding and bringing Josh to the table to tell him what he wants. So yeah there is definitely a free-er lane for Roger to choose should he choose to.
Does he? Doubtful. I think he finished that off with The Lot. I don't think he does anything else archive-wise tbh. Maybe an outside chance of a a 50th anniversary reprint of Testify/Turn on the TV on vinyl or something but nothing with new outtakes etc. At this point I'd rather have him working on new music. Just keep recording and putting stuff out. I highly enjoyed Outsider and the Outsider Tour...

He can choose to work on any Queen material without Brian's permission. Remember how Made In Heaven got started?

Has his solo and Cross material been released in 2013-14 with the Lot boxset? I remember he complained that the record company didn't send him the final product...

The lot included CD`s of all his solo work and the 3 Cross CD`s. There was also 2 CD`s with Roger`s singles and variations and 2 Cross singles and variations CD`s. Also included was a DVD of all the solo and Cross videos. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lot_(album)

i'd give anything for a spec edition of FIS over Happiness any day of the week, but i doubt there'd be enough to warrant it

Brian stepped in and basically started from scratch...which is exactly my point. Roger is not the final arbitrator in what is released by Queen. So sure he could on his own work on a Queen II re-release but before he even did that he'd have to get the idea cleared past the rest of the band, etc. His solo work....he answers to no-one. MUCH easier.

Well, I don't think it's imperative that Roger dig through the "Happiness?" recordings. I think it would be very good if he reissued the album, in all formats, including the b-sides. Something similar to what was done with the reissues of "Fun in space" and "Strange frontier", but improving it. Don't you think that this could be done without much effort?

Hopefully including the full Truro 1994 DVD and / or the Gosport / Shepherds Bush Empire full audio. The live b-sides sound terrific.

It's not a landmark album tbh and not his best. The fact that we got The Lot is a miracle in itself. His solo work never got off the ground and made a splash, unlike Freddie's or Brian's.
We are one month away from the 50th anniversary of their debut album and not a word about, apart from some publications in music magazines and sites.

I think Roger said in a interview when the Lot came out, that all the unreleased and other version of the songs, were included in the Lot box set and that`s why he called it "The Lot". And there was nothing else in the vaults. There may be other "lost" recordings in the vaults, only time will tell.

And there was nothing else in the vaults. There may be other "lost" recordings in the vaults, only time will tell. I think Roger was only referring to the fact that everything previously published appeared in The Lot because there are recordings that are circulating that are not included in The Lot (I remember some tracks from the Strange Frontier sessions). On the other hand, I remember some statements from a member of The Cross, he said that the album "Shove it" was recorded in Ibiza (Spain) by all the members (something that seems to have not been done originally) and he hoped that one day it would be published. Therefore, I think it is not unreasonable to conclude that there are pieces of music that could be published.

I have that interview. I assume that the tracks sound very much like they were performed on stage, being for me "Rough Justice" the most interesting gem, since it was one of the only three Cross songs never performed in concert (along with 'Put It All Down To Love' and 'Heartland'). Unfortunately, I am 99% sure that such recordings will remain in the vaults indefinitely.

i'd give anything for a spec edition of FIS over Happiness any day of the week, but i doubt there'd be enough to warrant it With that in mind, it is incredible that artists such as XTC or King Crimson release their archives. I cannot imagine that they have such a huge following (and of those, only a certain percentage will buy this stuff) which would make those releases extremely profitable. So there might be a different reason to release such stuff. Maybe to have a steady flow of income which Roger obviously does not need anymore.
