Hi everybody.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the album 'Queen II', released in the UK by EMI Records on 8th March 1974, I would like to share with you three reviews of it, published in different magazines. The first one is a review published in the English music magazine Record Mirror on 16th March 1974; titled Glam rock dregs, is a negative review of the new album. The journalist defines it as poor overall, as are the songs included in it ('The Loser In The End' in particular) and Freddie's voice; the article ends with the sentence "If this is our brightest hope for the future then we are committing rock and roll suicide".
The second review was published in the English music magazine Beat Instrumental in May 1974. The album was appreciated by the journalist and was reviewed well; the band, as already written in previous articles, was again compared to Led Zeppelin.
The third review was instead published in the American music magazine Billboard on 4th May 1974. The album, released in North America by Elektra Records on 9th April, is reviewed very well; again, the band is compared to Led Zeppelin, but also to other bands like Yes and even The Beatles. Among the songs included on the record, Billboard praises 'Father To Son' and 'Seven Seas Of Rhye' - the latter was a hit in England but it had not yet been released in the US (which happened on 20th June 1974).
