Hi everyone.
Today I share with you an American review of the album 'News Of The World': this particular article, titled New 'News' no news, was published in The Michigan Daily magazine on 12th January 1978 and was signed by the pen of Tim Yagle (the same journalist who reviewed the concert at Cobo Detroit Arena on 18th November 1977: queenchat.boards.net/thread/5057/detroit-review-yagle-michigan-november).
Just like the concert review mentioned above, Yagle also writes words on the album that oscillate between positive and negative: the album is defined as good but not as exciting as the previous two. Some songs like 'We Will Rock You', 'We Are The Champions', 'Sheer Heart Attack' (compared to the sound of the Ramones) and 'It's Late' are praised, while others like 'Spread Your Wings' and 'Fight From The Inside' are criticized (the first for the boring guitar solo at the end, the second for the fact that it seems overmixed and filled with random elements). Yagle, describing 'Get Down Make Love', claims that in the central part there are "odd synthesizer sounds", but as we well know there are no traces of synths on the album. No words are spent on 'All Dead, All Dead', 'Sleeping On The Sidewalk', 'Who Needs You' and 'My Melancholy Blues'. Enjoy!
