Hi everyone.
Today I share with you an article published in the American music magazine CashBox on 6th September 1980: written by journalist Michael Martinez, it is entitled New Queen Single Bites Into Black Radio And Retail.
Martnez talks about Queen's latest single 'Another One Bites The Dust' and the success it is enjoying among black radio stations; the enormous demand from nightclubs, from New York City to Chicago, pushed disc jockeys to request copies on 12" single format for distribution both on the radio and in nightclubs.
At the time of publication of this article, the song was being making its way into the US record market and was climbing the charts very rapidly; it reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box charts almost a month later on 4th October 1980. It also peaked at number 2 on the Hot Soul Singles chart and the Disco Top 100 chart, becoming Queen's best-selling single over the years (7 million copies worldwide). Enjoy!
