Hello everyone.
Today I post a short but nice interview by journalist Genevieve Hall with Roger Taylor and John Deacon: entitled Monarchy Business, it was published in the English music magazine Record Mirror on 23rd February 1974.
It's interesting to read how Roger and John describe Queen in their first years of recording activity; four guys with different academic backgrounds who found themselves in tune in music. John says he joined Freddie, Brian and Roger after meeting them at a party and that he took on the role of bassist after six others left the group and adds that Queen is a well-calibrated band and more musically structured than Led Zeppelin (he defines the band as "a hard heavy electric rock band with complex harmonies"); Roger instead talks about their stage outfits and the roles of composers within the group. The interview, which concludes by talking about Mott The Hoople and the UK tour that saw Queen as a support band, most likely took place in January 1974, shortly before Queen's departure for Australia, during the completion of the album ' Queen II'. Enjoy the reading!
