I'm a fairly new Queen fan and I'm hoping that all of you who are so knowledgeable can answer some questions I have.
1. In the documentary video "Freddie Mercury: the King of Queen," one of the people featured who talks about Freddie is Mick Ross. Who is/was Mick Ross and what was his relationship to Queen? I am not able to find anything about him when I search.
2. In the song "Now I'm Here", who is Peaches?
3. I love the 1986 Wembley concert. I've watched it many times. I bought the DVD so I could see the Friday night concert. In the Friday concert, during the song "Love of My Life", something happens at 1:01:18 and the crowd reacts but whatever happened is not on screen. Does anyone know what happened?
Thanks so much!

Hi and welcome! 🙂 Question 1 - do you by any chance mean Mick Rock? He is a photographer who took lots of photos of Queen among other bands: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mick_RockQuestion 2 - somebody might correct me on this but I believe Peaches was a reference to a person who had an intimate encounter with one of the band. Question 3 - no idea!

2. Peaches was a groupie, from New Orleans. 3. Might it be some sort of gesture that Frddie does after "i still love you", which gets an appreciative cheer from the crowd?

Yes it's Mick Rock! Thank you. The YouTube posting of the video had the wrong name, and he wasn't identified in the film itself. But looking up a picture of Mick Rock, that's him. Yes someone above identified Peaches.

I guess this also begs the question, who or what was 'hoople'?

Yes it's probably something Freddie did. There was a pause between "I still love you" and whatever it was. Brian had started playing and the camera was on him. Thanks.

I guess this also begs the question, who or what was 'hoople'? Well, Queen fronted for a band called Mott the Hoople before they headlined, so I figured it was that band or someone from it.

"down in the dungeon just peaches and me" is a reference to the dungeon nightclub i believe, Peaches being either a worker here or someone he met there "down in the city just hoople and me" as you said is a reference to the touring aspect whilst supporting Mott the Hoople in the states. Baring in mind Brian wrote this whilst in hospital and was being reflective of the time spent touring hope this helps :-)

The Dungeon is a fairly famous rock nightclub/bar in New Orleans's French Quarter. Still going strong, been in operation since the late 1960's. It has a vampire type theme of course. There was a coffin there for a long time, but I think that's maybe been removed. I've been told the place has been cleaned up a bit, music changed from not being so heavy metal and not quite as loud. It's an interesting place, if you walked past it on Toulouse St. you may not even notice the entrance and it has the feel of entering a cave. The bathrooms entrances were built into the bookcases. Like New Orleans, it's a unique place.

That's the full name of that 'Peaches' girl. And, yes, of course 'Hoople' refers to the band 'Mott the Hoople', whose style they were deliberately honouring.

Not just possible, but it's pretty set in stone that Now I'm Here is about Queen's touring days with Mott the Hoople. Fred would often say in concert (particularly on the Jazz Tour) that it was written in dedication to Mott the Hoople.
