Neat - so this is one of the 5.1 channels. Any chance you could post the whole show from the room mic? This was a fascinating listen - although a vocal overdub can still be heard in the third verse of Dust.

Cool! There's a way to do the same with the 2001 DVD to, however, halfway through the concert the guitar is mixed into the audience channel, making the vocals impossible to hear. But with this channel, one can hear the original live vocals to Play The Game, such as on the obvious overdubbed "inside" and "free world".

It's more an 'ambience channel' in the surround mix in the first video rather than a true audience mic, hence the additional overdubbed bits pointed out by Wizard and the audience loop faded up at points. I love stuff like this though, interesting to hear so thanks.

Thanks Bob, I'll post the whole perfomance from the 5.1 mix soon. Also this audience mic is from "Rock Montreal". "We will Rock you" 5.1 audience microphone does a better job at removing overdubs some of the overdubs, but this still great.

Feel free to post both then - curious to hear the differences.

The snare here sort of overpowers the hi-hat. also it sounds kinda like a trashcan being hit

It would make so much more sense to have two options of audio when it comes to live performances:
1. The polished version of the sound 2. The original sound
Let the fans decide what they want to listen to!

The original sound Let the fans decide what they want to listen to! I suppose they're embarassed of their mistakes. They've always been very perfectionist, to the point of overdubbing/editing Freddie's voice on new releases even after his death. More than once, after having a concert broadcasted live on TV Brian joked on his soapbox that the mistakes were there to show it was really live. I know he's joking, but I've always thought of those jokes as something like when we do something really embarassing and then quickly joke about it just to make it look like it's no big deal. Especially because whenever the concerts get an official release, the mistakes are suddenly gone...

It's a convenient defense that makes an artist look like they're fine with it, but like you said, they tend to overdub 98% of these little mistakes anyway, which reveals the truth about how they actually feel about it.

Luckily we have people here who can do it if the alternative source is available, e.g. Chief Mouse's Live Aid or Milton Keynes restorations.

We have people who really care about the material and know how to improve it for the fans. Obviously that should have been done by Queen Productions in the first place, but can't help it if they rather release another compilation after already 16 existing!
They have more compilation albums than studio albums ffs!!
