Wow, I never knew Princes of the Universe and One Vision were meant to be switched.
That being said... I wonder how easy it is to fake something like this?

"Wrong version" of the AKOM track and unknown running time for WWTLF? Interesting, but it may be nothing. AKOM may just be the Highlander mix and WWTLF may be exactly the same as usual. Wasn't AKOM recorded digitally? The album? They only did digital from "Innuendo" onwards, I think. TMLWKY was mastered analogically on MIH because it was completed during "The Miracle" sessions.

Wow, love stuff like this (unless it's a big fake, obviously). Swapping Princes and One Vision could have worked. Though why is the letter concerned about the wrong AKOM version, but not the running order?

Though why is the letter concerned about the wrong AKOM version, but not the running order? Princes opened the movie, so it would've made sense. however, commercially, opening with the pre-album single also made sense - as this made it more distinct as a Queen album rather than a soundtrack, while still retaining all of the obvious tie-ins to the movie.. For me, opening with One Vision followed by the remaining non-Highlander tracks. After those, Princes followed by all of the Highlander tunes in movie chronological order, feels like a better logical tracklist: Side 1: 18mins One Vision ♦ A Kind Of Magic (album version) ♦ Pain Is So Close To Pleasure ♦ Friends Will Be Friends Side 2: 24mins Princes of The Universe ♦ Gimme The Prize (Kurgan's theme) ♦ One Year Of Love ♦ Who Wants To Live Forever ♦ Don't Lose Your Head ♦ A Kind of A Kind of Magic

If I remember correctly, there was another or the same master tapes surfuced on ebay, AKOM had album version with different speed, this info came from a collector. I don't remember if that had been discussed on QZ or Qol forum.

The "unknown duration" for WWTLF is actually just an unknown running time for the second side of the album, the seller just put that info so it seems to line up with WWTLF but if you look at the track sheet you can see Side 1 has a duration of 20:21, and Side 2 doesn't have a duration written down.

Wasn't AKOM recorded digitally? They claimed it was at the time. The CD was labelled "DDD", signifying "digital tape recorder used during session recording" on the original UK CD. Do we think I can sue for misrepresentation?

Do we think I can sue for misrepresentation? I think it only indicates, what kind of tape was used, not what kind of mixing desk or other equipment.

Justin Shirley-Smith said on Brian's Soapbox many years ago that parts of The Works were mixed digitally...

If I recall it correctly, it was either a Mexican or Peruvian LP where AKOM ran quite a bit faster and faded out earlier. It was on YouTube for a while but can't find it now. I think it ran close to 3 mins 30 secs.

Yes, POTU and OV are swapped on the Peruvian LP and cassette releases. Though I think there are also some very obscure European (?) promotional cassettes which had these two songs swapped as well. Maybe this is how the album should have been until a very late decision changed it to how we know it today. And in Peru they never got this message....
