This is just a thought I had, and I was wondering how many people might find this interesting.
I know there are some amateur and pro musicians on this forum, as well as other people who take in interest in the more technical side of music. I was thinking we could open a new topic, say, once a week, to discuss some aspect of music theory in relation to Queen's music - to just randomly throw out a few examples: the chord progression of a given song, the way vocal harmonies in a given song were constructed (e.g. counterpoint), certain 'tricks' or stylistic devices one or more of the members used repeatedly, interesting/unusual chords found in Queen songs, the way a melodic phrase or the melody of an entire song is constructed. etc.
If at least a couple of people are interested, those of us who know something about music theory can exchange ideas and pick things up from each other, while those of us who aren't so familiar with it can discover a, hopefully interesting, new way to look at the music we already know and love.

It would be a great topic. I'm an amateur musician, more instinctual than professional, so I can't contribute much to the topic, but I could learn a lot. Too bad Sebastian doesn't have the website where he made those great song analysis. I'm sure The Real Wizard could contribute a lot.

About 10 years ago, I made a comparision of Father to Son (Studio vs Golders Green Hippodrome) and a litle bit of Son and Daughter. I posted it on Queenzone, back then. Im all for it too. I am one of those who can play music on guitar and just about get through a few songs on piano. So learning new stuff would greatly help indeed.

ThomasQuinn - go for it. there's plenty of musos here - both tech and keen music lovers. it's always refreshing (even after listening to music since the mid-60s) to learn new stuff about the tunes we love.

I'm afraid I have no musical ability or technical knowledge to be able to contribute anything at all to this, but would absolutely love to see this go forward. I love reading analysis and discussion by people (in any field) that know what they are talking about. Every day is a school day!
This is just a fantastic site!

Following a recent injury, I thought I might be off work for an extended period of time. So I downloaded a piano app, thinking I'd put some effort into learning it.
I learnt a few bits... Bits of Lean On Me, Stand By Me, and Imagine mainly. Then I realised I was learning it really badly - effectively I've learnt the left hand part right handed....

It will be a collaborative research. 1) Feel free to drop new files (.PDF, .DOC or whatever), in here or via PM. 2) I think a few of this books are 'semi official', or at least, licensed for publishing. However, it is not legal to reproduce or rearrange any other copyrighted musical work. If you are seeking to transcribe another writer’s work, you should first ensure that sheet music for the composition in question is not already available.
