Suddenly, every post is accompanied by Frank's avatar rendered in various primary colours, Are we trying to create some sort of NOTW / Hot Space mash up?
How many is the maximum value? What does the colour scheme represent?
Plus, does a Tatterdemalion rank higher or lower than a Satyr?

Satyr requires 50 posts.
This is readily apparent if one looks at and sorts the Members list. The post count is also located at the left of every post.
The Members list is accessable by clicking on "Members" on the menu bar near the top of the page.
The Members list can be sorted by clicking on the "Posts" column.

I just noticed that the rank is also noted by the number of "robot heads" below ones username at the left of ones post.

Presumably because I use the The Dark Theme.

Plus, does a Tatterdemalion rank higher or lower than a Satyr? /grumpy old fart i was looking at the member post rankings and wondered how easy it would be to substitute the "Stars" for something else. did a few Franks as an experiment. but if people don;t like them, i can retrieve the boring stars. as for the numbers/colours - i think saintjiub has addressed that quite nicely I can't see any of this, I just see stars? Presumably because I use the The Dark Theme. it's present on all themes now. although i don;t know if these things will be visible on Mobile view. |

Thanks to all who entered into this in the right spirit - I've been reading old QZ threads today, which reminds me that the level of sarcasm allowed on the Internet these days is greatly reduced, lest one be termed a "troll", so accept that i have to tread carefully!
My genuine feedback is that the posting levels end up being nonsense as everyone gets to whatever top level (Oberon?) the software allows.
And replacing the stars with something Q specific isn't the worst idea, although the current iteration is too big on a mobile and the colour variation is distracting. Maybe small black crests (white for the dark theme)?

Stating the bleedin' obvious, I think in the beginning of forums, posting 'ranks' were designed to encourage members to post more. The more you posted the higher up the ranks you climbed, and I guess the format stuck as it's still present on the majority of forums I visit.
Not sure that there's much of an actual point to it, but it can give forum administrators a joyful experience in thinking up the names of the ranks. 😁

In other times, I'd quite enjoy an evening in a pub with the mods addressing the urgent issue of ranking the characters in FFMS hierarchically.

I liked the robots, but I rarely use mobile, so the robots were probably too big.

I liked the robots, but I rarely use mobile, so the robots were probably too big. They were, and while the stars are colorful, they also blend in subtly with the avatars, whereas Frank was too detailed for the eye to avoid. |
