... and in my opinion, it is not bad at all. Its a very chilled out version. I have no idea who Karen O is though.

Don't like the women her voice, they should've used some correction on her voice...

I think she sounded beautiful.
The whole arrangement was quite remarkable. Thank you for sharing.

Karen O., for those not in the know, is from the American indie band Yeah Yeah Yeahs. She put out a stunning album last year with the producer Danger Mouse called Lux Prima.
Incidentally, Willie's voice didn't do it for me at first, but I'm coming around to it.

Lovely take. The lyrics have a bit more time to simmer.
The only thing I would've done is lose the bass line. It just doesn't work at that tempo.

But to me it's just a distraction. I don't think it would've been any less without it.

He's a national treasure and, generally, I like him a lot. But if we're talking about the art of singing...eh...but the art of emotion, now that's his talent.

Personally, I want the bass line to be present. I'm sure it'd be fine without it, but it's so iconic that I kind of want it there. The way it pops in and out is tastefully done, and also true to the original.

Liking Karen O's vocals, but Willie....not so much. She's a wow, actually. This was an interesting listen, although I agree with Bob about the bassline - it's very odd at this tempo. I am now also looking into the Lux Prima stuff.

Itâs better than âYou is the Championsâ of whatever it was called. Nice version. I used to really like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. She has a great voice.

I love Willie Nelson, but when I first heard this I was surprised at how old he sounds (duh, he's an octogenarian) and how out of it he sounded compared to Karen O. Fortunately, it's grown on me, especially considering Karen takes the lion's share of the vocal work. I wonder how wasted Willie was recording this! Probably not as wasted as Freddie, Roger, and Bowie were when recording the original

Karen O did the soundtrack to the movie ' Where the wild things are ". I like this cover, it's different, which isn't a bad thing.

I wonder how wasted Willie was recording this! Willie Nelson is 87 years old. And still a strong marijuana advocate, though I believe he only has edibles these days, doesn't smoke.

Rather unique and quite lovely. It does tend to lose most of it's melodic value at such a slow tempo and that is one of favorite things about the song.

I agree with, Jo. The slower tempo creates a more atmospheric sound. It truly creates a feeling of warmth and makes it feel like time has stopped. It's calm and peaceful despite the heaviness of the lyrics. And frankly, right now this arrangement is perfect considering the state of affairs in the world.

Thanks for pointing this out! It's a great version. Very different but same spirit. I don't know that Willie ever sounded "good" (still love him) and I've never heard of Karen O but she's great too!
