Pretty much every recording labelled as "San Diego 77" is either a copy of the BBC sessions or Seattle 3/13/77.

Those are from the previous October's BBC session. is that the same source that circulated as LIVE IN MIDDLESEX 1978 - 2 decades ago? - the one with the fake crowd noise? |

It was meant to be broadcasted back in the day (1977), but it never happened. So it's fake. |

But this bit is nonetheless encouraging. If it's genuine, no doubt it sounds far better than anything we've heard so far aside from the snippets in documentaries.

If it's genuine, no doubt it sounds far better than anything we've heard so far aside from the snippets in documentaries. it's a difficult one to assess. it could well exist - and no doubting it. But back in the 80s, these kind of vinyl live LPs cropped up often. I remember buying a vinyl copy of a 1975 bootleg (can't recall if it was supposed to be Kimono or Geisha Boys) - either way, it wasn't what it claimed to be. Think it was a really crap quality recording from '73. |

It was meant to be broadcasted back in the day (1977), but it never happened. So it's fake. Just note that it's incredibly difficult to prove the non-existence of something.
Even if we gather all the internal paperwork from the station signed off by the program director, that still doesn't mean it was never broadcast.
